I was not born in Bristol but it is my home, I would not choose to live anywhere else in this Country, It has culture, diversity, tolerance and is an amazing central hub for the most amazing countryside in the whole of the U.K, Miles and miles of fantastic walks filled with history, close to the Mendips and Cheddar, A short hop to Weston, A great cycle route to bath and woods to die for,The people are genuine, kind and loving and after ten years here i proudly refer to my self as Bristolian. In half an hour I can be in rural Gloucestershire, In 15 minutes in South Wales and in a couple of hours in North Devon and beyond. I can fly around the world within a half hour drive and we have the best cider on the planet...yup..I am never leaving this beautiful spot in the west of England
There can't be another city roughly the same in population that matches anything near, Bristol, Patrick. The harbour looks a fantastic place to walk around with the old cranes and warehouses, and there's the famous ship, the SS Great Britain which I hadn't a clue that it had been towed back from the Falklands back in 1970! The council building does look really impressive, so large and of a very grand design. Park Street seems very steep, but a lovely thoroughfare, and the cathedral is a really grand uniquely designed structure. The Cabot Tower, that is such a fantastic building, with the views from it. Well, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, that is like a lovely dream in itself, spanning over the valley. I can understand how you loved the city altogether when you dwelt there for sixteen years, Patrick. This video is a masterpiece, and thank you so much for presenting it to us all.
Thanks for watching this Ffranc. When I was 18 it was exciting to move to the big city. However, after my years of living there, I found it wasn't somewhere I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Nothing wrong with Bristol, but it wasn't for me. Hence the reason I eventually moved to where I am now. It's certainly a great place to visit though, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from going there as there are lots of interesting things to see. Clifton Suspension Bridge in itself is worth visiting. Thanks again Ffranc, all the best 👍
Loved this tour around Bristol , its funny I born only 40 miles away its a city I have never been around only went there to go to the zoo as a child and then later in life to the airport I really enjoyed the video thank you Patrick.
Thanks for watching Shaun. This was a whistle-stop walk around parts of Bristol as I was trying to capture what I felt were the more interesting places 👍
Well if anyone can find a bit of greenery and a tower in the middle of a city centre it's you Patrick ! I knew nothing at all of Bristol and really enjoyed this, parts of it reminded me of Liverpool where my Daughter lives, with the cafes lining the harbour, and even the university building looks exactly like the Anglican Cathedral which occupies exactly the same sort of spot on Bold Street. I'v always been a great admirer of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, what a Great Briton he was,its worth a trip to Bristol just to see the bridge and ship. Always learn something new in your films,I'm now eagerly anticipating someone saying Ship shape and Bristol fashion to me,I will be straight on them 😊 Great film as always Patrick, thankyou. Pete.
Well I think I filmed Bristol's best spots here Pete. I didn't want to film the suburbs where I had lived as that would have been pretty dull, so I wanted to show the places I remember liking best in the city. There was a pub called the Bristol Fashion actually, don't know if it's still there. Thanks again Pete. Cheers, Patrick :)
Really enjoyed this Patrick , Its many years since i ve stood on temple meads station , Train spotting , Also been a couple of time s , to watch Preston Play , Bristol Ciity and Rovers ...over the years .....Ive Travelled below the Bridge but never been Over it , maybe put it on my list of things to do mate... Thank you once agaiin for sharing , these films Patrick ...Frank and Lee ...
I was never into footie I'm afraid so I never went to watch it whilst living in Bristol. I did live right beside Ashton Gate for a while, the Bristol City ground. Thanks Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)
Hi Patrick - that was great. I had a visit in mind and this one felt right. I like Bristol and this was the last big City I visited with Paul. We went to a concert at the Colston Hall. With an afternoon walkabout it was brilliant. I enjoyed hearing about your life and the SS Great Britain as well as your favorite Park Brandon Hill. I'll have to try a visit there next time I'm in the city. I do agree it;s a fabulous place to be - no wonder you stayed for so long. Well, a real joy to watch again, Have a great weekend. Mark
Hi again Mark, thanks for watching this one. I wondered if you might have visited Bristol in your time, nice to hear you went to a concert with Paul at the Colston Hall. I went to several there back in the late 80s and early 90s. Yeah Brandon Hill was a lovely park right in the middle of the city, so it was a great spot to enjoy my packed lunches when I was working in the city centre. Been a long time since I've lived there now, but I still have my closest friends there. Well thank again Mark, you have a great weekend too. All the best. Cheers, Patrick :)
@@solitaryrambler Yeah it was a good concert Patrick. You know the venue then. Top rate! And it sounds like the city produced top rate friends to. A pleasure to watch....looking forward to your next installments.
A lovely video, thanks Patrick! I've visited Bristol a couple of times and found it a vibrant and interesting city. The SS Great Britain is a fantastic attraction, I strongly recommend it.
Enjoyed the accompanying music on this informative video. The chord changes reminded me a little of The Alan Parsons Project' whom I have been a fan of for some time! atb snack
That was fascinating, I have never been to Bristol but it looks a great place to live. I particularly liked Cabot tower, those views looked superb and of course the bridge is known the world over. What was it like as a place to live?
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff, thanks for watching. Bristol was a great place if you like cities, but it wasn't somewhere I wanted to stay. Nothing wrong with the place, just not for me.

@@solitaryrambler I don't mind cities to visit occasionally, but as I'm from North Yorkshire, near the moors I am a country boy at heart!
