It must have been a real joy living in Portishead, when you did Patrick. I bet it's great to see the Severn Estuary from some of the houses a little higher up and looking right across to the South Wales coast. The two battery points look quite unique, in fact I've never seen anything like these lights before. The marina looks a real good place to visit. It's interesting to see your development into music by the photographs of you a few years ago. The music to this video is brilliant, by the way. Many thanks, Patrick, it's a real good film, indeed.

I remember being very excited as a 15 year old moving from my old childhood town to a new place. Revisiting Portishead back in 2017 after so many years to film this made me realise it's a nice enough town, but there is no soul. Today I gather it's more of a commuter town. Nothing wrong with it and it's pleasant enough, but it's not somewhere I would want to be living now. The music for this film was a piece I composed whilst living in Portishead, so it was right to record it for this. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks Ffranc as always for watching and for your support 👍

Feeling under the weather today, so watching your film of Portishead and hearing one of my favorite songs Perfidia in your film has made me feel so much better. Love the song and all the music and the beauty of Norther Somerset makes this film so wonderful. Thank you Patrick

Thanks for watching this Sofia. The music is all mine, the main theme sounds a bit like Perfidia in places, but it is all my own music 👍

This was really interesting,I love seeing films of new places that I know absolutely nothing about,I bet it was lovely going back to a place where you once lived,it was great to reminisce with you, thanks for sharing the photos and stories Pat,btw that is exactly how I thought about leaving school in 1976,it must have been something about schools in those days.
I could literally go to those benches next to the first lighthouse, and spend the whole day, alone, sat on one looking out to sea and not speaking to a soul, what a gorgeous little spot.
No one deserves a break more than you,the effort you have put in to film after film, and the number of hours work you have to put in once filming is complete, let alone like you say the travelling expended and accommodation.
Enjoy your rest, and thanks for all the wonderful films you've already shared with us.
    Pete.

During 2017 I decided I needed to visit Mum more as she lives in North Somerset, and I was conscious that I only saw her probably on average about 3 times a year. Therefore, I opted to start making films in the south west so that I could visit her at the same time, so that worked out really well. I thought it would be good to film the towns in the south west I had lived in before I moved to Derbyshire, hence this one in Portishead and the next two films. I was actually quite pleased myself with this film as I find Portishead itself rather a dull place, nothing wrong with it at all, but it's more of a commuter town for people who work in Bristol. Anyway as always Pete thank you for commenting and for watching :)

Loved your video with it's home made way and so full of character complete with iconic key board synth music (John Shuttleworth would agree) I did my own about the town here on my channel but made it more of a musical journey for emotional impact. It's great to find another amateur video maker such as myself. Keep up the good work and stay original 🙂
