Sorry about your disappointment, hope things are looking up now, but kudos for telling them what you think. Haven't watched many of your Peak District episodes until now for some reason, did a walk along Derwent Edge the other week, stunning views, should visit the area more often.

Thanks for your kind words, things at work now are still not great, but I am thankful to have a job and work with people I like as there are many people much worse off than I am, so I keep telling myself that.

Good heavens, does nothing count for loyalty and experience these days? It is another heartache for you to deal with along with the lack of support and love from your father. I wish you good fortune in the future which you surely deserve mate.

Only just come across this one. I was in education for 40 years. I've witnessed or been involved in numerous interviews where the outcome has bordered on the ludicrous. The reasons given for such choices are always bollocks and I'm being polite ! Just remember , what you do for a living doesn't define you as a person. Hold your head up !

Thank you for you very kind words, that is much appreciated. Please note that this film was made 9 years ago now though. All the best 👍

Thanks for sharing your story. I came across a similar situations on many occasions in my life. I felt let down. Struggled on. Eventually left that work and started my own business. Never been better. Great video too. Thanks Patrick.

Many thanks Adrian for your kind words. A little heavy for my usual type of video, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍

Just revisiting this Pat as I did exactly this walk yesterday, even though I'v watched them all I'm always rewatching one or two, loved this period of your films, when I thought Bob Morgan and Martin Roy were two guys who came along on the walk with you, when you would tell us about your work, and your Dad with the organ, and the blind dates with the dates mates sitting at another table,by the end we felt we knew you as a mate, the latest films are just as enjoyable and always something to look forward to,all the best,Pete.

Looking back I wish I hadn't created those pseudonyms, but at the time I wanted to *not* have my own name against every credit, i.e, written by Patrick Leach, edited by Patrick Leach, camera by Patrick Leach, etc. as I felt that would make the titles at the end of each film look ridiculous. However, a couple of years ago I did something i wish I'd done earlier and that was just to have fewer titles along with one single title at the end of each film listing all the work with my name against it. Many thanks for watching again Pete and for your continued support 😀

A heavy story hence making sure it was reflected in the title of the video. I would make this one differently today. Glad you enjoyed it all the same and thanks as always for watching 👍

Lovely video here Patrick. I've just checked where the location is and it's near Sheffield. It would be nice if I was to get there with my old school friend when I'm in Liverpool sometime.

Thanks David. Bradfield does actually fall within the boundaries of Sheffield City, despite being so rural 👍

    Yes,Cheers Patrick.
I'm so glad your very special inn was the Strines,I live in South Yorkshire and this is my neck of the woods and I often call at the Strines when I'm on my way to or from a walk, they do great meals too,I was hoping you were going to tell us about the tower opposite the reservoir that you also see in the opening scene,I often sit outside with a pint and the peacocks for company looking over at it,I think it's a Victorian folly,so good to see you somewhere that I also visit.
Going for a walk, especially a solitary one,has a habit of making you contemplate and work out your troubles,I'm glad you felt you could share your story.
A great film that I thoroughly enjoyed, thanks Patrick.
    Pete.

The Strines Inn is lovely isn't it. Never had any food these as yet though, must try it sometime. If I was making this film today I would drop the deep storyline and concentrate more on the walk itself and the places I visit, so Boots Folly, the tower, would have been mentioned now. Thanks again Pete. Cheers, Patrick :)

Wow my mate that was heavy .... I don't know if I could use any film I made in such a way but I do respect you for feeling so strongly about not only the job but your position within the company where you work ... But I do believe you should speak out , like you said wether they took any of it onboard , maybe you, ll never know... But no one can deny your passion , I must admit I didn't pay as much attention to the film as I was trying to take on board what you were trying to get across .... But I have to say the church at higher Bradfield , is set in the most wonderful of settings with landscapes that just fall away behind it .... stunning in deed but I do love my churches lol ... Thank you Patrick for your honesty and for once again sharing your journies with us .... Respect my friend ..... Frank and Lee

I decided to tell that story just a few days before I went out to film this as the events were very recent at the time. My problem was I would go home from work to an empty house, I had no partner or anyone else to talk to so this was a good way of getting issues off my chest otherwise I just had to bottle it up. The story was told very diplomatically so I was careful what was said, but I'm very glad I did it. Glad you liked the church at High Bradfield, it is one of my favourites because of its wonderful setting. Thanks as always for watching Frank and Lee. Cheers, Patrick :-)

Lovely professional video…unfortunately quite often politics is involved in the workplace as to who moves ahead & who doesn’t despite a good track record…the interviewers may have been given some influence above them…it happens…I am sure you earned that job…

great video, and hope you've moved on somewhat after that interview - a similar thing happened to me 18 months ago - was 3 vacancies for people to get promoted to a higher pay band (tho, 2 managers had retired, but we weren't informed it was to replace them) and 5 of us applied...
i thought my interview was great - 1 colleagues was poor, and not sure about the other one, but the 2 youngest guys got 2 posts and we were told (after keep asking) why the 3rd post wasn't taken and we were informed that they didn't have to fill it...that was a proper kick in the teeth for us, and as a result (even now) our motivation has waned somewhat...

Many thanks for watching and for all your comments. I won't go into details now as this was 9 years ago, but I'm just biding my time now as there are worse jobs I could be doing. All the best 👍

Trust me on the job front I know EXACTLY how you feel. As for the video, I really enjoyed it. South Yorkshire is great and Bradfield looks really lovely. What can you tell me about the nearby Tower Patrick please?

Cheers Jeff, Bradfield is a spot I love to visit. The tower is called Boots Folly. Maybe someday I'll return here and feature it more prominently 😃
