Theory: The "tenth" is the girl that became pregnant out of wedlock. The town ridiculed and shamed her for it which led to her suicide. She then haunted the English teacher in an attempt to communicate, only able to say hello. The rest of the cheer squad was likely haunted either by the girl herself or the idea that the whole town shamed her to suicide. In a small town like Salvation they were likely very close friends. This led to the whole cheer squad either committing suicide or being consumed by the unreality under the school. The school itself manifested underneath the school in impossible geometry because the girl couldn't believe or accept the reality in which her community would shun her so completely. The effects of the anomaly seem to have started before the girl was pregnant, but they were typically benign. It is possible that the girl was a reality bender that affected the town in small innocuous ways until she was shunned by the town, the resulting psychological trauma led to the sudden shift in paranormal events and the gradual build up to the Foundation getting involved. So I’m guessing the cheerleaders are the 10 undead girls, 9 of which like to float around, and I’m guessing the one that doesn’t was the one that got pregnant and the kid that likes hanging out on ceilings and saying hello to people is her child. Can’t quite work out what caused the whole thing or why but that’s the fun of SCPs.
I think the Baby was a reality Bender so when she got pregnant things start to go out of wack and now the baby kind of floats around looking for friends but is also kind of insane since its a baby reality bender. It keeps its Mom down in the ground safe and the cheerleaders were probably the mom's only friends so thats why they have "special privilage" or whatever. Also the suicide note said "wet" which is the only thing a baby in the womb would feel? Lots to digest in this one
Pretty sure the other 9 cheerleaders hung the one that got pregnant out of wedlock and her ghost took advantage of a non-euclidian SCP to get revenge. And doing so fucked up the SCP permanently.
I like how volgun incorporates accents to evoke a sense of how large the foundation is. Also how he tends to fit the right accents to the proper areas. And grandma volgun did a spot on impression of an older American reminiscing over lost memory.
Anybody have a theory on what's happening here? Is it tied to the teacher's dementia? The pregnant cheerleader? It seems to be something "bigger than reality," but that final scene throws that into question for me. Like is there a chance this whole reality distortion is the fallout of some small town highschool drama?
The teacher's dementia is likely linked to early amnestics. Before the SCP foundation found the serpent under the sea, early amnestics were dangerous and unreliable, hence her ability to remember anything at all.
There are definitely at least 2 main entities at work here. One larger madness inducing entity concentrated below the pool and another being the 10th cheerleader that was bullied into committing suicide. Really interesting SCP and I love how Lovecraftian it felt.
@@mattylewin1684 I feel like the 9 Cheerleaders aren't main entities themselves and more of an extension or under the control of the 10th. Like the 10th definitely has their souls and is eternally tormenting them so the 9 Cheerleaders aren't acting on their own.

For those confused, this has ties to the Class of '76 timeline. A series of unexplainable events all correlating around Highschool, and a group of hostile Reality Benders called the Syncope Symphony.
Actually, it doesn't. The syncope thing was a passing reference, and the syncope symphony article, 4833, was written years later by an entirely different person as that author's own take on the group. The original '76 story, Rememberence, doesn't mention Reality Benders anywhere. The Symphony, especially the version of the Symphony in 4833, had nothing to do with this

I like how the elderly teacher keeps saying "Hello" - just like the disembodied voice in the school. It's like the being is attempting to force her to stop talking about it by trying to "talk over her". It's probably been inside their heads for so long manipulating their thought perceptions and that's why a lot of things "didn't worry them", but THIS teacher is able to fight it at her old age and actually keep talking about it. Or at least that's my take on it.

This puts me in mind of something my grandfather told me from his home town, a poverty stricken dot on the map (his term) in Minnesota. A string of disappearances, all kids, all from the same high school. Long story short, it turned out that a large group were playing Russian Roulette together, and hiding the the bodies. They blackmailed new members by paying them to "join the party", and telling the that they'd all go to prison if they told. I think someone did tell in the end, and the police put a stop to it. I don't know if this story is true, and I don't think my grandfather father was involved, but it scared me. I never went to parties with people I didn't know.
Something I always think about is how scary it would be to live in a universe like this, especially for SCP agents. You never know what a paranormal entity could do, and because there are things that can warp reality, they could totally disable any equipment you have and there's no real way to prevent it.
NO. As a QA tester I can tell you our nightmares are not bad behavior in the software. Instead our nightmares are devs making changes and not documenting them for us to test, devs making changes that do not follow agreed upon specifications, and completely overhauling major systems right before a deadline. @@Anjiruu that's the scariest thing about this SCP. If the girl that gave birth to it hadn't drowned it and contained it, it would have been unstoppable.
I've seen an entire thread going about how this SCP came into being, and thought I'd throw my two cents in as a possible explanation. The one that makes the most sense to me. I believe the story is centered around a cheerleader who became pregnant through some means the community considered "scandalous." Likely something that happened with another classmate, as evidenced by the teacher saying "she didnt want the boys to see," suggesting she didnt want the child's father to find out. At this time, she likely caught a ton of flak from the community what woth its stringent religious doctrines and its tight knit nature. There is also the possibility that something terrible occurred with the janitorial staff as well, given that she found the janitorial closet closest to the gateway. Perhaps she was raped? Perhaps she went to them for an abortion? Either option is truly horrific. In either event, this is where the anomaly comes into affect. It seems she encountered the gateway at this time, which provided undo stress on her psyche and body. She lost the child at some point, though this seems intentional and contributed to her fracturing psyche. I suspect a source of particular trauma was the other cheerleaders. Regardless, I think what happened is that her broken psyche reflected onto this anomaly in some way, either by her having latent reality bending abilities, an anomaly latched onto her or perhaps even more bizarre, her unborn child possessing those abilities. I think the second option is more likely though. She wanted to disappear and ultimately, this anomaly granted her wish; a monkey's paw ordeal that drove her to a vengeful suicide. Once dead after losing the unborn child, the madness of the circumstance took hold and manifested. Her presence was erased from the minds of everyone there, which is why there are so many "unknown students" and loss of memories of a specific person, an effect that echoed on the ones that tormented her the most. This vengeance also seems especially pronounced against the other cheerleaders who have been made to be "ugly," "unremarkable," and "faceless." The "black humanoid figure" also seems to be either the girls unborn child, supporting two further theories. That either the child is the source of the anomaly or that the child is a host for the anomaly. The first, as I write this, seems likely as its immature, undeveloped understanding of circumstances became a sort of fulfillment of its mother's wishes. It sought to do for her as a dutiful child might do for their parent, erasing her presence and being driven mad by the circumstances, "falling forever" into the grave of the school that was made his home, the thing this quiet madness made. While the details are vague, this seems to be the best explanation one can gleam so far. A tale of vengeance, misunderstanding, immaturity and what trauma can do to afflict the mind and will of one given power beyond their control. C²R

I’m pretty sure the mother drowned the child which is why the anomaly is right by the pool
Pretty sure the other 9 cheerleaders hung the one that got pregnant out of wedlock and her ghost took advantage of a non-euclidian SCP to get revenge. And doing so fucked up the SCP permanently.
It was an extra dimensional abomination that found it's way into this one. The girl contained it by drowning it in the pool.
Under cheerleaders for undead football players.
Then they jump in the line and rock their body in time.
OK! I believe you.

Anybody have a theory on what's happening here? Is it tied to the teacher's dementia? The pregnant cheerleader? It seems to be something "bigger than reality," but that final scene throws that into question for me. Like is there a chance this whole reality distortion is the fallout of some small town highschool drama?
its not the first time an SCP cames to be because a reality bender goes through some traumatic experience.
@@Koakimeiruvalafar this is a good point.
Maybe a reality bender questioned their own existence and it threw everything out of whack?

I think you hit the nail on the head, although maybe the 10th cheerleader was pregnant with the entity? Reminds me a little bit of the Silent Hill movie

For those confused, this has ties to the Class of '76 timeline.
A series of unexplainable events all correlating around Highschool, and a group of hostile Reality Benders called the Syncope Symphony.
Is that what drove the nine cheerleaders to suicide? I’m trying to piece it all together. Lol
Actually, it doesn't. The syncope thing was a passing reference, and the syncope symphony article, 4833, was written years later by an entirely different person as that author's own take on the group. The original '76 story, Rememberence, doesn't mention Reality Benders anywhere. The Symphony, especially the version of the Symphony in 4833, had nothing to do with this
And this children is why you never mess with a Reality Bender.
Everything changed when the Reality Nation attacked.

It's probably been inside their heads for so long manipulating their thought perceptions and that's why a lot of things "didn't worry them", but THIS teacher is able to fight it at her old age and actually keep talking about it.
Or at least that's my take on it.
Maybe some sort of dementia changed her brain so it was harder to mess with her

My thought was that she still hears the voice and keeps trying to answer it, but cant remember that it keeps happening

Jesus Christ.
Something I always think about is how scary it would be to live in a universe like this, especially for SCP agents. You never know what a paranormal entity could do, and because there are things that can warp reality, they could totally disable any equipment you have and there's no real way to prevent it.

b e t h e s a
NO. As a QA tester I can tell you our nightmares are not bad behavior in the software. Instead our nightmares are devs making changes and not documenting them for us to test, devs making changes that do not follow agreed upon specifications, and completely overhauling major systems right before a deadline. Those are nightmares.
Behaviors in a virtual world as described in this SCP is simply an interesting software puzzle to solve.

The same thing happened at my high school, man Jenny was such a ◾️
This is one of my favourite SCP stories. The recording of the agent as he falls into madness always gives me chills.
This vengeance also seems especially pronounced against the other cheerleaders who have been made to be "ugly," "unremarkable," and "faceless."
The "black humanoid figure" also seems to be either the girls unborn child, supporting two further theories.

The amount of detail in this one is incredible. Netflix or HBO could make a miniseries on this event alone.
