exactly how I was taught at LAPD and LA Sheriff. Tap, Rack, Chamber check before going 10-8.
Wow, I'm astounded by something so simple, makes so much sense, and I never would have thought of that on my own. Thanks for that solid advice 🤛
Thank you for this information. I will train to this example. I was doing it wrong.
I hope people take this to heart. I load the same away. Similar with rifles (I’ll be looking for the Rumble video). I can’t get through to a lot of people though.
Very helpful. Have not seen this before. Appreciate it. Thank you.
Great video and training tip.
Great video! Do it right every time so it becomes natural.
Great explanation and insight.
Another great vid brother! Thanks for keeping us high and tight. By the way, the stormtrooper has landed...picking it up tomorrow. I may have sold another one for you, I'll let you know.
Great video as always
Thanks! This is gold
Great video and advice. I pretty much do waht you described already but I still learned more from this video.
Hells yeah... That was some Real Meat there!
Another great video. Thanks
Thank you for a great educational video. I learned something important today.
Agreed.
Awesome instruction, thank you!
Great points Gary. What would you add on accomplishing a “mag plus one” load?
I thought these were some great steps definitely makes sense. My only question is rather than locking slide back before administrative load what's your opinion on "tap rack" or "tap and tug" methods ?
Can you talk about your tactical belt lay out? How do you have your mags double stacked like that?
They’re HSGI Polymer Double Decker Tacos. The best and everything else on it is also HSGI. All on our site.

@@paramounttactical I just would need to get the R2 clips from g code looks like. I have a low viz belt from them. But the mag pouches are not stacked like yours.
Great advice Gary. I could easily release the slide emergency reloading with the Beretta I carried on duty for years and did it this way. However, with both my M&P shield and M&P subcompact it would take 4 guys your size and a hydraulic press to use the slide stop / release lever to release the slide. So I've had to learn to pull the slide back and let it rack the round into the chamber that way. Slight modification but I'm not a fan of it. I prefer your method and was faster with my Beretta. Just don't want to carry a full size as EDC. Frustrating how stiff the spring is on the M&P's but I do love how they fit me ergonomically and how they shoot.
LMAO! I enjoyed that visual.
Yeah, I have 3 M&P shields and all of them had the same issue. The recoil spring in those is way too stiff. That along with everything else having tight tolerances result in ridiculous tension on the slide release. Not sure how many rounds you have through it but after about 1000rds even my wife was able to use after that.
I’ve since switched over to the P365 & P365XL which I do think are better guns. Being someone who loves S&W and hates Sig it almost pains me to say that but it is what it is. I think the XL is just about the perfect EDC. I had a video up about it on YT but I took it down when YT went on a 2A rampage. I need to reupload to Rumble. Anyways… let me know if after a 1000rds or so if that release becomes usable.
Thanks for watching!

@@paramounttactical Sounds like I need to shoot them both some more. I'm probably 1/2 to 2/3rds there on both on the round count. Yeah, it's crazy how stiff they are but man they shoot nice. I'm super comfortable with my Beretta 96F too because of how much training I've done with it. But it's just too big for EDC. I always figured if I ran out of ammo I could just use it as a hammer or throw it at a bad guy and knock them out for a week. Things a brick. Lol.
I am not a fan of using the slide release button to chamber a round into battery . I am by no means an expert or even very experienced, But I was trained by an highly trained and 3 letter agency firearms instructor and precision shooter who also believes that there is more of a chance for a round to not go into battery and more wear and tear on the slide notch and button when using the slide release button then there is if you do the full pull release . Not saying that your way is wrong or that it's not easier for some ,But I prefere the full force of the spring ( since not all springs are created alike ) and the tactile feel and security of knowing a round has properly chambered and into full battery.
Just my .02 cents
I have bad habits to break
100%!

Since I have short thumbs I hit the slide release with my support hand thumb when doing a reload, anyone else do this?
We teach that as an option to our students with carnie hands.
