    I like the BBQ boat being towed, not much room to sit down and eat your burger on it though 😉 Lovely scenery up there. Beautifully lush and green. Great work as always Alan, what a lovely lady you have by your side, and treating you to a wonderful gift. Looking forward to the second instalment

      Thank you Chris. My birthday present from Sally was so unexpected and a real treat, one we could share and enjoy together. We had a great time, the weather was glorious and we definitely chose the right week, as things have changed since we were there. There is a breach causing low water levels and real issues for boaters.

    Hello Alan, I've watched a few of your videos and can't remember if I have commented before so forgive me if I am repeating myself but, I really enjoy your videos. You have a very relaxing and calming demeaner that I enjoy watching and listening to. Anyway, I also wanted to say I hope you had a very happy birthday. I think this is the first I have seen of Sally, and she seems like a very lovely lady. Looking forward to more videos and maybe perusing through your previous ones. Oh, I am from across the pond as they say, in America (southern US) and am very enamored with the narrowboat lifestyle so sorry if I ask too many questions or ones you've answered many times before.... or type long-winded comments like this one. 😄 Thanks for sharing. My birthday was in May and the narrowboat trip was my present from Sally, totally unexpected and a wonderful surprise, we had a great time. I hope you find time to look through my back catalogue, I tend to cover cruising, DIY, walks and talks, canal related repairs, other water related and heritage subjects. I also arrange some topics in playlists, especially the longer cruises, to assist the viewer. I hope you enjoy watching my channel, all the best Alan.

    Hi Alan and Sally. This is such a great present for Alan Sally, you’re a really generous lady. I bet it was a bit strange listening to the owner when he was giving you instructions 😂. Does he know you live on a narrowboat? It has a nice layout and everything you would need to be comfortable for your week away. Good to hear the weather report was good, hope it stayed true for you. I hope you got the camera setup sorted without too much trouble. That was a very promising first cruise, looks like the Lancaster canal has a lot to offer

      Hi Paul, it was a wonderful unexpected surprise that we both enjoyed very much. The owner knew I was a boat-tuber but it was a requirement of the marina that hirers do not take boats out themselves. We had a great time, probably the best week to go, as there are issues now with water levels due to a breach. My boat has more internal space. The advantage I have with a low deck is that with my canopy up, I can fit under the local bridges, which is good in winter/rain. There’s no doubt the sunny weather made this very special. Give it a go, if you have the opportunity. Best wishes Alan💙

    • @MyNarrowboatVenture
      @MyNarrowboatVenture  25 дней назад +1

      Hi Stuart, the countryside is very different, as my local stretch of canal is very rural, often enclosed both sides by hedges whilst the Lanky is much more open and passes through several towns and the centre of Lancaster, you'll see more as the series progresses, next episode is published tomorrow.

    Oh he was going under the bridge I thought he was in a bike lane on top of the bridge.
    Perhaps there should be signage warning of risk to people walking or riding under bridges .
    A dedicated shareway would be good but considering the age of the canal network that probably is not viable.

    • @MyNarrowboatVenture
      @MyNarrowboatVenture  Месяц назад +1

      Cycling on towpaths is very popular, as of course they are level and can be a good way to get from one place to another. They can though be very narrow, slippy and awkward. I noted the towpaths tended to be wide under bridges on the 'Lanky' and firm underfoot, so generally not a problem. I still feel it's wiser to dismount but generally, cyclists will get to know where it's safe to ride under and where it isn't. Cheers

    What? Not allow you to take it out yourself? O.K., so it is a hired boat and I suppose that they get a lot of "yahoo, hold my beer" types wanting to hire them but piloting you, of all people, safely out of the marina is just a tad ludicrous. Rules is rules, I suppose. Let them do the work then! Robert is only doing his job and I hope he is not too embarrassed when and if he finds out who one of his customers was. It looks a right nice boat though.

    • @MyNarrowboatVenture
      @MyNarrowboatVenture  29 дней назад

      Hi Stephen. It’s a requirement of the Marina not the hire company that the hirer cannot take the boat out. In fact, having thought about it many of the hire companies in my area are waterside and not in marinas, so the issue doesn’t arise. Robert was aware that I was a Boat-Tuber. The boat was ideal for us, we had a great time. I can certainly recommend Crabtree Narrowboats.
