Having said a few posts ago that there is no canal in Suffolk - I just Google checked it - before someone out there corrects me. There is a short ‘canalised’ (whatever this means) section of the river Gipping on the outskirts of Ipswich and forms part of a 1.6 hectare nature reserve. It’s no good to narrow boat owners (unless airlifted in) since it’s land locked!!! THORT you absolutely needed to know this! 😂 Phil, Suffolk.

As you go down the canals only the trees and bushes on the tow path side are the responsibility of the CRT. The opposite side belongs to the landowners.
Thanks Sue, yes you’re right, but they do deal with overhanging boughs of trees when they obstruct navigation, to keep the channels open. We actually passed a C&RT boat doing just that the other day, all retired volunteers, doing a fantastic job, clearing both sides of overhanging foliage. They do a great job! Thank you! xx
Thought I'd binge watch some of your videos as I been following narrowboat life unlocked for a just over a year now. Those curtains made the boat list along with that silly bird who was tipsy and fell in 😂. Lovely boat by the way

Hi Julie and Martin! I'm sorry you had to work so hard to get past that bridge when you were feeling rotten, Julie, only to find out they cancelled the project the very next day. Oh, well. I guess at least you could then relax and take it easy for a bit and hopefully recover well from your cold. It was a truly lovely few days of cruising in the golden Autumn.
Hi Chris, yes, that bridge closure was really annoying, all I wanted to do was wrap up warm and stay in bed lol, but it was a lovely cruise and it was nice to get moored up knowing we could relax for a while. Feeling a lot better now, Martin did come down with it unfortunately, but all ok 🥰 The Autumn colours made it all worthwhile, if we hadn’t have cruised we wouldn’t have seen them. Thanks Chris xx
Hi Julie and Martin. If your listing experience occured on or around the 24th October then the cause was a failed pump at Stoke Hammond Lock Pump House. We had just refueled at Grove Lock Marina but could not get through Grove Lock because CRT were flowing water down from Church Lock all the way down to the pound you overnighted. It took ages.
Hi Robert, yes, it was 23rd October! We moored up the night before and it was fine, but by the morning the water was right down! Thanks you, we now have an explanation! Thanks Robert! xx
We used to live in Aylesbury the canals all along to MK are very pretty in the summer we quiet often drove over to the three locks pub to sit outside have a drink & a meal. Very much enjoy watching your videos take care

Mr D a big favourite in our house ( I was given one for my 70th birthday by the family -just wish I'd had one when I was still working).I use it so often and just this week I made a full pot of pea and ham soup from scratch. First one of your videos I have come across, so iTunes aficionado's like myself I see. I have loads of movie editing software but iTunes is so easy. Where are you heading next on your travels if you don't mind me asking? My boat is constantly on the lean on my mooring spot so had to move right out and use a gangplank, all fine till someone goes past to fast and nearly dislodged my gangplank now so many times. I am quite some distance from the bank, great trying to get coal aboard, plus it's a little nerve-racking when it's wet and slippery. I am all hunkered down and not moving for winter.
Hi, yes I use iMovie as it’s so easy and I love the music on there too. It’s awful when your boat lists at a mooring, makes it really uncomfortable inside! Pushing the boat out and using the gangplank is a good idea, although like you say, people go too fast past moored boats nowadays and it’ll end up in the drink 🤦♀️ Thanks so much! xx
I might be ruining your future vlogs here, but did you moor down at Seabrook Mooring (I think, near the Brownlow hotel between Horton and Ivinghoe) or maybe Slapton? Im an angler and I think, I may be wrong, that I walked passed your boat in the last couple of months. Your boat looked fantastic compared to some of the others on the canal and I think it stuck out in my mind! I only recently started watching canal boat vlogs starting with Foxes Afloat, then Cruising the Cut and ended up here, what are the chances?! I hope I'm correct or I've waffled for no reason and made absolutely no sense!

Hi Margaret, listing is a term used for when a boat is leaning to one side. Boats should always float level, so if a boat is listing(leaning over) then something is not right. In our case, we had come aground in the night as the water level had dropped. Hope that makes sense. Thank you so much xx

I use to live near Fenny locks we saw the people move in to the cottage and all he belonging went over that swing bridge the red lion was very busy

My boat is constantly on the lean on my mooring spot so had to move right out and use a gangplank, all fine till someone goes past to fast and nearly dislodged my gangplank now so many times. I am quite some distance from the bank, great trying to get coal aboard, plus it's a little nerve-racking when it's wet and slippery. I am all hunkered down and not moving for winter.
Hi, yes I use iMovie as it’s so easy and I love the music on there too. It’s awful when your boat lists at a mooring, makes it really uncomfortable inside! Pushing the boat out and using the gangplank is a good idea, although like you say, people go too fast past moored boats nowadays and it’ll end up in the drink 🤦♀️ Thanks so much! xx
I might be ruining your future vlogs here, but did you moor down at Seabrook Mooring (I think, near the Brownlow hotel between Horton and Ivinghoe) or maybe Slapton? Im an angler and I think, I may be wrong, that I walked passed your boat in the last couple of months. Your boat looked fantastic compared to some of the others on the canal and I think it stuck out in my mind!
I only recently started watching canal boat vlogs starting with Foxes Afloat, then Cruising the Cut and ended up here, what are the chances?! I hope I'm correct or I've waffled for no reason and made absolutely no sense!

What is listing
Hi Margaret, listing is a term used for when a boat is leaning to one side. Boats should always float level, so if a boat is listing(leaning over) then something is not right. In our case, we had come aground in the night as the water level had dropped. Hope that makes sense. Thank you so much xx
