I cannot put words on how much u have inspired me, and you still do. Even tho u don't have daily uploads, or a god-like setup. You still make quality videos that i personally love.

I know it's a matter of taste after all and everybody's list is personal but Chalayan alongside Kawakubo, Gaultier or Miyake is kinda wild...
We need another list with Azzedine Alaia, Gianni Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, YSL, Thierry Mugler and even Miuccia Prada. But I think you need a real deep dive into their work to really have an opinion...
Yea I was kind of unsure about putting him in, I more put him to rival Miyake but I didn't rate him in the end. I think I know a decent amount about those designers you mentioned however I personally don't find them the most interesting (outside Mugler) so I probably won't do a list on them. Just my personal taste!
you have inspired me to use fashion as way of expressing myself, my dressing reflects how i'm feeling at that time, i'm learning new things from you all the time, fashion really isn't a thing in my country, i come from Nigeria, most people are into that hype culture, so people like you are really educative man.

Hello Cactus kid, nice meeting a fellow Nigerian here...but fashion really is a big thing in Nigeria we don't just have good curators like this to educate people like this...you have to do the hard work finding/learning about fashion houses and brands.
There's an African Fashion Week Nigeria happening in September and Lagos Fashion Week sometime in October/November

Hey, you should check out Fashion roadman aka Ayo Ojo if you havent already. He is a Nigerian fashion journalist with awesome educational fashion videos. He has even made a couple videos covering the Nigerian fashion scene, I think you would enjoy it!

To note on your point about Rick and his lack of color. I actually think with his most recent shoes, and you can hear him discuss this in Loic's behind the scenes for recent seasons, that Rick has taken a liking to color(After recent acid trips lmao) and even attempting to make collections that evoke more pleasant emotions. Also Rick's use of various materials and persistence on using whatever material in his own way is very striking.
Glad to see you back, hope your moving goes well. You should do a video on where you see the future of fashion going. What new designers you think will be considered as greats in the future.

I found interesting your comments re the designers hating the industry and that often their clothes were a reaction against it, also enjoyed your comments re Issey Miyake being a genius technician. Having studied fashion and made clothes myself it makes me - all the more - marvel at the amazing technical skill and ingenious solutions found to make many of these garments, all designers listed here. It's akin to sculpture, especially Rae and Lee's work, however a sculpture is static whereas these need to move as they have a purpose plus be washed etc and you're working with a material which largely has no structure. It's a very over used expression but many of these garments really are works of art.
Rick being in the low tier is controversial only in regards to trends - which ultimately don't matter - and I'm with you on that.

I think Karl Lagerfeld would be a great fit for the list, just because he was held as the GOAT when he was alive but the fashion community never saw him like that so I think it's a debate worth having.
Please make a part 2 on the new designers such as raf Simons, pierpaolo piccaoli, Simon Rocha, Oliver rouisteng etc

I always enjoyed Raf Simons' surveillance of the punk subculture without faking being a member of it - this balance is rarely talked about. He has long surprised in his shows both for his eponymous line and bigger groups like Dior.
Abloh? Don't waste your breath unless you want to do a thought piece on marketing.

Laughing when speaking about tragedies is a normal human response. When we're suddenly dealing with deep trauma, even if it's exterior to yourself, in particular if you haven't prepared to talk about it, your brain is overwhelmed, and the release is a sad laugh. Don't feel ashamed about it, when you work in the context of tragedies, you learn to react in a more appropriate way. But we should never forget that heavy triggers don't necessarily have the effect we expect.

One thing I don’t understand about fashion is how exactly to become successful. What specifically caused these people get to this level. It’s like one day they woke to headlines and runway fashion. Idk what makes a designer good enough to become this big after seer so many fail.

gonna politely disagree on the colour aspect of ricks work, yes for the most part it isn’t extremely colourful but in the current tyrone era, since like 2020 rick has been super colourful and eccentric, very exciting and exotic materials and finishes
True, recently he has been using more colour but it's still mostly looks that are all one colour not interesting combinations of colour. Personally I just don't like how he uses it or the colours in particular that he uses. Still a favourite designer of mine overall though!

Amazing work but literally for the reasons I said in the video is why I don't see him as interesting as these other designers. Maybe he doesn't even belong in this tier list, he's pretty different to all of these designers

Love this video but I don't know if it's particularly your place (as a Jewsih person myself) to say that you forgive somone for something you're not a part of. I believe Galiano has created some amazing work, and I will forever appreciate that, but as a general rule of thumb I don't think we should go out of our way to pay our forgiveness to any great artist who has proved themselves to be a harmful person when their actions aren't problematic to your own personal experience. I say this in relation to any minority not just my own ethnicity/culture/religion. Working to forgive someone of this status is also just redundant, I believe, as forgiveness and appreciation don't need to go hand in hand
