I read Kate's biography. For someone so talented and eccentric, she had quite a normal childhood and a wonderfully loving family. I believe she was so sure of herself because she came along when her two brothers were quite a lot older than she was. Her family absolutely nurtured her brilliant talent. One of her brothers took most of her photographs, doing the artwork for her albums, while her other brother, Paddy, along with boyfriend ( Del Palmer) played in her band and on her albums.

I did figure it wasn't sexual, but that she was so sheltered that it stunted her social interactions to where her brothers were her most constant companions, taking the place of a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship she could have found at school. that was my experience with Kate too. I liked "This Woman's Work" and went searching for more from her and hated everything I heard, especially "Babushka." But for some reason I came back and tried again (unusual for me, with music), and i read lyrics and understood the meanings and watched her interpretive dances and now I'm of the opinion that Kate Bush is one of the greatest singer songwriters of the modern era. I guess the moral is that sometimes art isn't immediately digestible or accessible. Sometimes you have to work a little to get into a mindset where you can understand the value of what you're experiencing! 😊

In my opinion, a great song occurs when you strike a perfect balance between 'the known' and 'a surprise'. (OK, maybe the production value adds to it). When it strikes the balance the tow, the song never gets old. This is one of them. And Kate being the queen that she is, is just a bonus.

yeah this song is a masterpiece from head to feet . she wrote all by herself at 18. she designed the coreography by herself, and the video was made in just one shot . She was a real angel and an incredible talent.. BTW; Maybe you don't know that back in the 1970s, the country where this song sold more outside UK was indeed....Italy...hundreds of thousands of copies. 2nd in the world only behind UK.

Kate was so beautiful she had no problem looking weird. She was so talented in so many ways, it's almost unfair. And to top it all, a truly lovely person.
When I first heard this song, I couldn't stand it, but now much appreciation for the composition and Kate's lyrics/voice I now know it's a masterpiece!
that was my experience with Kate too. I liked "This Woman's Work" and went searching for more from her and hated everything I heard, especially "Babushka."
But for some reason I came back and tried again (unusual for me, with music), and i read lyrics and understood the meanings and watched her interpretive dances and now I'm of the opinion that Kate Bush is one of the greatest singer songwriters of the modern era.
I guess the moral is that sometimes art isn't immediately digestible or accessible. Sometimes you have to work a little to get into a mindset where you can understand the value of what you're experiencing! 😊

Com isso, fica mais fácil pra nós, que não tem o inglês como língua oficial, entender, e compreender melhor a dicção perfeita. Isso é um ótimo laboratório pra que estuda, ou como eu, estudou técnica vocal com canções em inglês. Perfeita. Grande mulher. Kate Bush. Essa canção é uma aula, em especial nessa gravação. É isso.

In my opinion, a great song occurs when you strike a perfect balance between 'the known' and 'a surprise'. (OK, maybe the production value adds to it). When it strikes the balance the tow, the song never gets old. This is one of them. And Kate being the queen that she is, is just a bonus.
