Creativity has always been essential for our cultural growth, but there are still many misconceptions about this elusive process. Not the left-brain/right-brain binary that we've come to believe, being creative is considerably more complex, and requires a nuanced
understanding of ourself and others. Being a powerful creative person involves letting go of preconceived notions of what an artist is, and discovering and inventing new processes that yield great ideas. Most importantly, creators must push forward, whether the light bulb illuminates or not.

I really like what Kirby Ferguson said. I call it like many others, "standing on the shoulders of giants." My music, drawing, writing, etc. is all a result of the others before me. I couldn't have done it without them.

Totally true! I've always said that and still threre's something I don't get about "originality". Maybe we should call what it is considered "new" or "original" as "combined" or "transformed". But there's where creativy is involved, by combining or transform things. I think, hehe.

@@patriciamiranda8575 Thank you so much. I am still here producing music. As a matter of fact a remastered version of "Lucid Butterfly" recently got released as of last week. It is part of my first album "Simulacra" under my new alias "Uhi". It contains similar type of experimental atmospheric music, with some harmonic beat-less ambient as well. I was just about to upload the album montage for the album here on my RUclips channel. By searching "Uhi Simulacra" on Spotify the album will pop up. The album art is a dimensional portal in a desert temple. Again, thank you so much for your kind words. I wish you the very best :)

My own creativity stems from an attitude that there's always a better way to do certain activities & processes. I found expression for impulses to create unusual graphics & new devices by becoming an engineer. I often wonder how many people know that engineering is not just about mathematically determinant logic, but that it's largely about creative processes in problem-solving.

With creativity, I have the education, training, knowledge and experience to dramatically reverse and prevent disease and end much human suffering. I can eradicate many cancers, wipe out heart disease and end diabetes. I can improve and save lives. My problem is I need a new and creative way to engage and motivate people. There are others like me, and I see how they have met with some success. I have close friends that have reached millions of people, save thousands of lives each year, and yes, they also earn a great living doing it. My sole purpose is to help, and if I truly do, then to profit. We all need to make a living, but money is secondary. So how can I do it differently? What can I do that will get people to notice, acknowledge and embrace my message? What can I create that industry folks will say 'why didn't I think of that'?!? Or, 'did you see what that guy does to get people to understand their health better, it's fucking brilliant'?! Or, 'did you hear about or see that guy who does that thing about eating better? He's crazy but something about what he's saying makes me want to stop eating french fries'! Imagine if you knew you had the ability to end heart attacks and spare someone the pain of losing the love of their life but didn't have the creativity to reach them. That's my life. How can I get people to want to know the life saving information I provide and then want to use it to effect positive change in their lives, and make some money doing it? I guess I'm all science and no art. The big thing right now is to write edgy and profane diet books. It's a thing. It's a gimmick but it worked. There's the tame "Skinny Bitch" all the way to ''You're a fucking fat pig so here's a diet" (yes, that's an actual diet book). I don't just want to write another diet book. A book can be part of a bigger model but I still need that something special. Something that is sustaining too. I could make a really nice broccoli costume and show up at a bunch of events and get on the news but that's more of a stunt; I need an on-going messaging method. Something fresh, something innovative, something creative, something that makes you better off having been exposed to it. And yes, some money would be nice.
If you are the creative type please tell me what to do so I can save mankind from continuing to be the architects of their own demise. And please remember this: everything you swallow determines the fate of your health and wellbeing. Remember how euphoric you felt as a kid? That feeling of immense, unbridled wellness you knew as a ten year old? I can get that feeling back for you. And you'll never have to worry about most diseases again. Cool? Please just tell me how to reach the people of earth.

For a good way to get a perspective of "everything being a remix", take a look at the Renaissance. Then take a look at the reinvention of Biblical scenes, like the Annunciation, Crucifixion, Nativity. All of these works of art are the exact same story, however-the context in which they were created (i.e. culture, time, patron) influence the very different approach. Taking that into account, one of the best ways to be creative is to simply be as diverse as possible. (also Dexter Britain. Nice.)

3:40 "Some of the greatest creative ideas of all time can easily be lost because they're not packaged in the right way or not consumable." I wouldn't say that. Some of the greatest creative ideas transcend whatever genre they're in but they are never, ever so complicated as is implied in that quote. What makes these ideas transcend said genre or category is how they can be stripped of their details and remain relevant and influential. That's what minimalism is.

Washington University psychologist R. Keith Sawyer says: “Many people believe creativity comes in a sudden moment of insight and that this ‘magical’ burst of an idea is a different mental process from our everyday thinking. But extensive research has shown that when you’re creative, your brain is using the same mental building blocks you use every day-like when you figure out a way around a traffic jam."

To me, many references to meta-fiction primitivecool writing techniques first addresses the fact that so many fiction writers, may easily or not so easily, take existing ideas within your works of fiction, then inject them with some ideas that are yours or theirs, but they are truthful matters that get merged in the works of fiction. So, with meta-fiction primitivecool writing, does indeed incorporate meta-speak, because you will never know, unless the writer expands and allows you inside them.

Interesting video, but I'm really curious how this documentary was made. There are many clips of well known animation and graphic artwork rapidly cut throughout the piece, and these are credited in the RUclips notes here. But do the producers of this video ask permission or pay for the clips they use? As a video-maker who has had my work 'lifted' before, I'm really curious about this. I'd assume that PBS would ensure all rights are cleared for this use, but as all these sources are stuff 'found' elsewhere on the internet, I'm left wondering about the logistics of this.
I'd love to hear from the producers / editor how this is handled please? many thanks.

I saw a commercial on tv for some drug.
Complying with law, the voice listed quite a few rather horrific possible side effects of the drug.
But cleverly, the makers of the commercial showed attractive and distractive images of grandparents playing with children and puppies that drew one’s attention away from the ugly facts being spoken.
Now, about this video.....there are too many rapid fire images being thrown at us while we are trying to absorb the text.
Maybe the videographer was trying too hard to appear “creative”.
