Context on Jimmy Kudo (Detective Conan) being used in India: The name Jimmy Kudo was not used in any of the Indian dubs (Animax, Hangama, Disney XD and currently ETV Bal Bharat) they all used the original names.
The confusion of Jimmy being used is mainly because of the prevenance of piracy, so even though India never received the funimation dub, the English names stuck with English Dub watchers, but this has started to change with the release of the newer English dubs over the past few years and the newest Indian Dub in 12 different languages including English, Hindi, Tamil and more on ETV Bal Bharat which stick to the original names.

I remember calling Japanese characters name first name first last name last that whenever I mentioned the character name to my friends about it, it was always in that sequence. Like Ranma was Ranma Saotome, not Saotome Ranma. But now I can't use that sequence with Japanese names anymore, especailly with Japanese kpop idols. So when I see, for example, Sakura from lesserafim's name fully written out as Sakura Miyawaki, I feel something is off, unless it's been written as Miyawaki Sakura.

Yo... The English speaker was wrong when it came to Conan. When it came to the west it was called Case Closed; eventually referred to as Detective Conan. I think she watched it later on in life and so was introduced to it through the way Japanese people referred to it. On top of that the reason his name was Jimmy Kudo was because dubbing back then tried to make it easier for people to say it and because Jimmy was a common name in English. They kept the "last name" because it was easy to pronounce. Back then if the name in Japanese was easy for dubbing studios to say they would keep it and make a change on the first name mostly to make it easier for English audiences. Honestly it was dumb and that is just a few examples of how and what was changed when bringing anime to the USA between the 80's up to the mid 2000's. By then anime dubbing studios were progressing and getting better when it came to translations.

It is sad that there was not a Spanish speaker and French Speaker.
As for the legendary Pokemon: In the English version they represent, ("Arctic", "Zap" and "Molten") and the suffixes are all the Spanish words for “one” “two” and “three” (Uno, Dos, Tres). ArticUNO, ZapDOS, and MolTRES.
In French, each of them have suffixes that are inspired by deities. Articuno is called Artikodin (after Odin), Zapdos is called Électhor (after Thor) and Moltres is called Sulfura (after Ra the ancient Egyptian god of the Sun).
And in Japanese most people could have guessed by the sound, their names are translated to ‘Freezer,’ ‘Thunder’ and ‘Fire.’

As a daily watcher and a big fan of detective Conan in India we say
    Shinichi kudo or Kudo Shinichi...
Even we call Ai Haibara or Haibara Ai...
I don't why r they saying very differently

I guess the US-lady is a great reminder not to judge a book by its cover - she looks like a typical model-type, never would have guessed she'd be an otaku

I'm pretty sure in indian dub it's shinichi kudo and not jimmy. Also ai haibara appears really later on in the show, i don't even think we dubbed that show that far because it was canceled in india due to its violent nature and too mature content for kids. So i don't think we ever got to see what ai haibara would be called. Still i might be wrong so correct me👀 also I'm huge fan of the but i mostly followed it through its manga😍

Were they realize that Articuno = Artic (Arctic) + Uno (One), Zapdos = Zap (like electric zap) + Dos (Two), Moltres = Mol (fired glaze/glass) + Tres (Three)?

in India 50% call it mitsy and harry and the other 50% call them Misae and Hiroshi. The girl in the video may have been in the first half.

I am American, so I may know why those changes are mostly here. One, the other name for the "Detective Conan" series is "Case Closed!", Two: I watched the original Shin-Chan, so i'm genuinely SURPRISED they all watched it with how inappropriate it was.😂 Third: I think the reason why the American (or just western) audience have completely different names nonsensical to the Asian (eastern) ones, that being the majority of us don't understand the eastern counterpart's culture, language, or name origin, so the western side modifies it to be understandable for us (hence why "Conan" is "Jimmy" Kudo, not "Shinichi" because it's too Asian for westerners so they made it American.
But nowadays, we Westerners understand (or try to) learn how the Eastern side thinks and does things so we train ourselves to learn said names. (I pronounced Doraemon as Dor-RAY-mon, not Dor-RAI-mon until now oml.😅) Prolly 'cause anime is slowly but steadily getting more mainstream worldwide, so people wanna know. I'm hoping i helped out on the American side mostly!
