    Racism against Indians is so normalized that people don't even feel that it's wrong. Yesterday I saw a video in Instagram about people from Maxico or Brazil, and someone commented they look like Indians. Suddenly the whole comment section turned into a India bashing competition out of nowhere. It's like you can't even mention the word India without expecting replies like dirty, smelly, curry etc.

      Not really. German, like any language, is subject to individual opinions. Saying that exposure to the language would necessarily change opinions about it is unrealistic as the language does have a lot of sounds which are deemed quite harsh and overall the language doesn't have the same "appeal" as some others.

    • @andrearace1168

      @@thevannmann I'll grant you that people might not like it even when it's spoken in a neutral way, but I think you as well as many others have most likely been influenced to think that way about it. I don't know how much German you know, but they don't even really pronounce their "R"'s, and they have many "ah"s instead of hard "A"s. I think English is just as "harsh" of a language, if not harsher by those metrics, but of course you are allowed to have your own opinion.

    • @caroskaffee3052
      @caroskaffee3052 5 месяцев назад +8

      @@thevannmann This makes absolutely zero sense. Of course does exposure to a language change your perception of it. Most people have only heard German being spoken at its absolute worst in American WW2 movies, most people would not recognize it being spoken in a normal way since they expect it to sound like a soldier screaming to kill people. German does not have any more harsh sounds than other languages, the R is not even rolled, the consonants do not sound harsher than let's say Italian. It's mostly about what you expect a language to sound like. If you already have a stereotype in your head, you will apply it to the smallest things. Before the war, German actually had pretty much the opposite reputation of what it has today. The most famous operas, fairytales and classical music pieces are written in german or by germans. it is the language of "poets and thinkers" and is still a very important language in science since so many famous contributors to physics, chemistry etc were germans. These things unfortunately often get overshadowed by the impact of WW2, but it's important that we all work on breaking down stereotypes and asking ourselves where they really come from and if they have any scientific foundation

    • @caroskaffee3052
      @caroskaffee3052 5 месяцев назад +5

      @@andrearace1168 I completely agree. It has mostly to do with what you expect a language to sound like and what you picture while listening to it. The stereotypes about Germany mostly still go back to WW2 propaganda. The not laughing one comes from the British and the thing with the language is actually a quite interesting one. On the one hand it definitely plays a role that most people get first introduced to it by English actors shouting it badly and aggressively in a platera of trash WW2 movies, however there is one aspect to it that may make it indeed sound more aggressive due to how that aspect is used in other languages.
    We always speak with full "hard attack", which means that before every single syllable we completely close our vocal chords before starting the pronunciation which also leads to the "staccato" in our speech. Other languages like English predominantly use that when they are scolding someone or giving them a stern talking to over accentuate their words. So a speaking style that in many other languages is reserved to express anger is actually used as the standard pronunciation in German which I guess contributes to people hearing it as aggressive as that style of speaking is linked to aggression within their own language

      It's obviously going to be biased since not everyone will experience it to the same degree but when people from so many countries have this stereotype and when so many people have negative personal experiences, it goes without saying that it's likely somewhat true. Furthermore, most people who visit France, visit Paris, and it's well documented that Parisians tend to be more arrogant than the rest while rural folk tend to be nicer. Therefore, when people associate arrogance with the French, it's likely to be due to negative experiences in Paris rather than all of France. The same type of arrogance is often associated with certain big cities of many other countries like Sydney (Australia), Beijing (China), NYC (USA) and Hanoi (Vietnam).

    Before this video, I thought that curry only means a seasoning so I was like "That's not very nutritious, is it, to just eat spicies" when saw that claim about 🇮🇳 India. 🤓
    As for 🇨🇵 France (and 🇮🇹 Italy), 🇫🇮 me and my dad had this kind of stereotype of them that they tend not to make functioning reliable electronics, so I was worried when the warranty repair of a certain 🇯🇵 Japanese brand's device required sending it to 🇫🇷 France (I even asked if 🇩🇪 Germany was an option).
    Unfortunately, that didn't pan out well and it was my worst experience regarding something I had purchased: it returned further broken when they sent it back.
    After the second "repair" it was still in the same state I sent it back to them, and the courier (a subcontractor for an 🇺🇸 American company) had left the package on the snowy ground during a snowfall/sleet.
    And with the third attempt they said "we don't have this special swatch (white) in store, so you have to accept a black one", which wasn't new but a secondhand one with a lot of dust and corrosion.
    Only at that point, over a year after initiating the repair process, its 🇫🇮 Finnish retailer eventually got involved and found me an unused one (still black) at their warehouse after I contacted the consumer authorities. They had refused to do so from the beginning, passing the responsibility over to its maker.
    As a result, I want to make sure that in the future the retailers take care of the issues from the get-go and not the manufacturers. If anything, it tells more about the culture within the company (including retailers and logistics) than that of any country.

    6:25 German people are the same!!! Same for Dutch people (they say it themselves). I think other people are just more immature and too sensible.... sometimes they take things too seriously or don't have any sense of irony.

    Lucie has several facets, she can be sweet, warm, cute, adorable, she knows how to piss, but she is very reciprocal if you fail her, she knows how to be distant and cold too.
    She is a charming, practical, strategist, kind and calculating person, fun at times and playful at times.
    She likes people who are exotic, sweet and not at all conventionally different from her.
    She is charming and interesting and cool 💋🌷🌹💋💋💋💋🍾🥂☺️❤

      It's English, who cares? Are you also upset that English speakers say "America" for the country? Also, she was reading what someone else wrote.

      @@thevannmannÉ óbvio que a gente fica com raiva disso, mas isso é tão comum de acontecer que às vezes a gente tá pouco se fudendo e cansado de explicar. A menina fala soccer porque provavelmente ela aprendeu o inglês norte-americano que são os únicos que falam essa pataquada

      people who are not much into soccer and general knowledge about such mainstream topics tend to use just the US-English word for that - not aware that there is a huge meme and discussion all the time about that US-Americans 'wrongly' use soccer instead of 'football' - while at the same time the term Football is wrongly used, because its not all about playing with the feet. like always, many people are not aware about such topics, especially not in such a channel ...

    There was a video of Backpacker Ben, I had seen called I investigated one of World's most polluted cities. He showed overflowing drains and piles of trash. Then he went to a fancy area in a car so I thought it was Dhaka and the fancy area is Gulshan.
    Then I saw a Mongoloid street vendor selling satay. Then a guy in an anime costume approached him and Ben handed out Indonesian Rupiyah. So I learnt it was Jakarta.
    Jakarta is an alpha city like Mumbai. Delhi, Bangkok and Bangalore are alpha minus cities. Even Bangalore has bad areas like Tannery Road, Neelasandra and Ejipura. Then there was an American woman who told Ben that she is grateful she lives in USA and not a third world country like Indonesia.
    Even USA has bad areas and you can see the vlogs of Nick Johnson, Peter Santanello and Charlie Bo 313. Some vloggers love to show negativity in order to create shock for views.
    Oh that video only has 68k views, if some Russian or Korean vlogger makes this video in Korean or Russian it will get more than 2 million views.

    O... french girl is really fun super active she diesnot seem rude but she is outspoken. I felt she agrees to the comments on french ppl and dislkes about being rude. And she wants to correct it if she has. She has high EQ. Good gal.
    German girl is very very sweet am against to the german comments.
    US gal seems very responsible individual probably she is in right direction with all the freedom she has and not parental support/pressure.
    Brazil gal is cooool and also have high EQ.
    Indian gals are good at IQ of course but they have to work on EQ i guess... because i feel they should be describing both north and south india together in positive way and aggree to their negatives and work on it and should be responsible to understand they represent india properly.
