Growing is so much fun,and the end results can make you feel a little more independent on yourself than stores..You should definitely think about growing your own food. I can't believe there is anyone who don't want to. You can grow your own food anywhere.

As a writer living a very modern life, it's sometimes hard to imagine just how much food a person needs to survive winter, let alone most of a year, yet it can be useful to visualize it for storytelling purposes. So it's great to be able to see visually how much food you have for two people...and yes, I know that's not always counting all the things in that large chest freezer, either! What would be a rough percentage of food brought in from other sources (grocery, hunting, fishing) to supplement what you have? Things from outside your property, I mean, the things you don't have in your food storage.

If you want thinner pasta, oil that table and roll out in the oil, it'll allow your dough to slide along the surface of the table. You can also let your pasta dough rest for an hour or so to let the gluten develop. That'll allow the dough to stretch more.

Hard work but oh so nice to have a huge food storage, especially with no gardening for you next year! I don´t have the same amount as you guys but at least I have enough to keep us going "full out" for a couple of month. 10 yrs ago we got unemployed for a year and had no money and three kids to feed. I have always stocked up but after that my priority is to have full pantry and freezers, because me and hubby starved. Food is essential for life, giving us strength to work for surviving, the wheel of life.
Now it´s time to prepare todays dinner (and some for the freezer); meatloaf! Yesterday I made hamburger buns so we will fry slices of meatloaf as hamburgers, delicious! Stay safe and I wish you a terrific New Year! 💖

Hi! I have been in HVAC since 1979 and I have a lot of experience with propane (LPG) and you are definitely on a ticking time bomb! Having your propane tank inside your living space is dangerous. Propane is heavier than air and so if you have a leak, it will gather at the lowest place in the room and displace oxygen in your lungs and you will suffocate and pass out unless you are able to expel it. Just FYI... a insulated box with a heat bulb or thermal blanket around it plugged inside is recommended. regular fitting checks with bubble tests can save a life. All the best... love your vids... bang on!!

Very impressive you two! What a beautiful amount of home grown, caught, hunted, foraged amazing food! The meals you two create are restaurant quality and I must say those breakfast burritos looked amazing, as did the soup and the salmon and pasta. Truly sustainable and self sufficient is the way to go! Happy Holidays blessings and much Aloha from Oregon 🌲🙏💜🌎☮️🌎💜🙏🐾🐾🌲🐾🐾🌲

I opened my oldest canned jar this past week, apple juice from 2011!! It was delicious, my grand daughter was disappointed only one jar had escaped me. The juice was older than her, but she loved it!! Merry Christmas and Happy 2023 from Idaho.

I'm watching this and my daughter walked in and wanted me to invite you over to teach her to cook :). I explained that you have to take care of your animals and your home. SO she suggested we go there because she really wants to meet you, because I keep finding inspiration and reference you all the time!! :) Hope you have an awesome holiday season!!

All of the pumpkin variety soups do very well with a touch of curty or masala powder for taste. Changes it up.

    Everything looks so tasty!
Acorn (and butternut) squash skin is thin enough that it'll blend just fine with an immersion blender. Give them a good scrub before cooking, remove the stem and blossom ends and you're good to go.
