Here's my instructions for English lavender: 1) Put the plant in a hole. 2) Water over the next 3 weeks-- daily, or whenever you get the chance. That's it. No need to do any of the other steps. It takes care of itself.
So I noticed in the beginning of the video that does all kinds of varieties of lavender. Therefore are any of the seeds or the plant itself have any dye to them such as the yellow lavender a white lavender as where everybody knows that Lavender is that purple bluish kind of color. I've never seen a yellow lavender and by Mighty God I would love to see and smell a yellow lavender but yes I'm just wondering if the plant or seeds have been dyed with color
i bought a lavender, english lavender as i was told and it did smelled lavender but i still cant see its resemblance in any that i tried to google.. i like to post its picture here but where and how can i post the picture. My lavender plant died already but i will go back and buy again when i get to go back to the store. The plant i bought have only 2 petals. and different kind of leaves. where can i post the picture for you to identify it? thanks
To me a lavender is not lavender because of color but because of aroma. What is the most aromatic lavender. I purchased lavender at a Loews and returned it as it had absolutely not aroma AT ALL. Please be specific with the name as I want to go to a nursery. Thanks
Hidcote (Lavandula angustifolia Hidcote) is fragrant, as is Munstead (lavandula angustifolia Munstead). You might also want to try a hybrid like Grosso (lavandula x intermedia Grosso) which is cultivated for its oil, or Provence (lavandula x intermedia Provence). Quick question: were these small plants that were throwing up the first buds? The initial bloom might not have a strong fragrance, but lavender is a plant that rewards patience; note that the floral spikes that you find at a florist are harvested from plants that are at least two years old.
I purchased lavender, if you can believe it, from Qvc called phenominol, it is great, grew huge, really dark purple flowers, dries well, smells super strong and blooms first year and tripled in size in the first year. Ordered more this year love them and I've planted all kinds of lavender. I live in West Virginia, have horrible winters and very humid summers and these lavender are the best ever for my part of the country. I plant on a slope or make the bed raised up a bit for extra good drainage.
Garden Time TV, what can you tell me about the lavender called elegance? I bought some and it it the first that I have been able to keep alive but barely keeping it alive as it is too hot here. I have it in a container. I bought it when it was only 5 inches tall and in a 2 inch pot and repotted it into a gallon pot and now it is 13-14 inches tall. It is not root bound but I was wondering if I need to transplant it into the ground here in southern Tennessee. How often should I water it? How tall and wide does it get? What uses? Medicinal or culinary or both? Anything you could tell me about it? I love the plant and want to see it survive and thrive like my sage is doing. My sage has survive for 4 years and did not even die back during winter even though it got frost on it.
I bought an "english" lavender at a local store... To be honest it is a terrible little plant. It does not look like the english lavenders you show. It has tiny flowers that bloom on top of eachother up. the blooms are so tiny that my local hummingbirds are totally ignoring it. I just dont get it. What lavender would you recomend for Las Vegas Nv?
Lavender is like gold to me. So versatile and beneficial
Thank you Sarah. I refer to and recommend your book when I give my lavender classes at our Garden Center here in the Denver area.

Depends on where you live.. Plants that "cannot be killed" die in my yard all the time in colorado.

I don’t see the Cyrus lavender there. The leaves are large and smells stronger than its flowers. Do you know it?
Can any be potted in the house ?
How often do you water the English lavender Seeds?
I buy English lavender seeds but don't know how often to water them.
to get them to germinate just keep the soil moist and put some sort of plastic over it to keep it humid

Plants needs more water when you have them in pots,in the ground you still have to water but it doesn't dry out so easily
My favorite lavender is Goodwin Grey, because the foliage is so pretty and ornate.
Where is your farm?
