Remember the days when Low settings was actually low?
My low settings was 240p
Lol. I was so obsessed to run this on max and never realized what little difference there is especially between high and ultra, but even between medium and ultra. Not to mention that this game seams to look good even on low :)) Good video, useful info.

***** Do you remember how ugly the games were 10 years ago, in Low mode ?? Maybe you were too young ... Now, all those differences are tiny .. and that's cool ! I am glad I can keep my good old hardware for that game, and play it with medium settings: great graphics and good framerate :)

yeah, i remember those days, when if you put all settings on low, you just saw big pixels ^^
And when you were setting textures quality to Low ... in fact it was the "remove textures and replace with crappy colors" mode :)
Like Quake 3 Arena .. in Low it's super fast, but so ugly that my eyes burn and my nose bleed ..

This is a great resource to determine the video settings and what's best for you. +awesome!
Awesome video man.. Just one little SMALL suggestion. Rener Frames Ahead works backwards. 1 is intended for high power GPU and the more you increase that is for less powerfull/more smoothness. Although neither change would affect visual quality, only performance. :) cheers!

Tolles Video! Du solltest mehr von diesen detaillierten Vergleichen machen. Also wo die einzelnen Grafik Einstellungen miteinander verglichen werden. So ein Video hätte ich mir auch für GTA V gewünscht. Also Low vs- Ultra und nicht PC vs. PS4. Oder kommt das noch? :)

The car detail seemed to stay the same on low medium and high and only changed once it was ultra.
***** I think the card detail changes are extremely subtle. I noticed changes on the car emblem, too. I think the texture maps are better with each higher setting.

it changed from low to med
and as far as i know the PS4 doesnt have those effects
***** the player car uses the same 50K-polygon model for low to high but a 200k poly model for ultra. The biggest difference the setting has is on the distance at which other cars change detail levels

Wow awesome video, just what I was looking for! I run everything on ultra besides track detail and even then it runs perfect(I just use Nvidia auto optimize) I haven't messed with the "run frames ahead" settings. Does it make that big of a difference in frame smoothing?

Can somebody tell me what setting causes the "see lights trough cars and walls" glitch? First i played on medium and i didnt have it but now i changed to ultra and i do see it

from what i can tell compared to games in the 2000's is all this high & ultra settings is for ppl that like to take screen shots, rpg's & stuff.
For racing this game does well for most low settings, there are settings i would still do ultra like distance, others peoples cars...etc.
PC looks awesome even on a low settings, it's amazing, the biggest difference are effects when u have rain, reflections and stuff, I couldn't notice anything in shadow settings, textures are better only when u set them on ultra, but I think we can't see it's true way in yt comparision .
Nice video. Just too bad you didn't try nvidia's DSR, comparing it with the other antialiasing settings.

Which Sun flare setting is better? Chroma or full?
Even on "low" it still looks pretty damn nice :o
Shadow detail is how accurate the outline of the shape of the shadow is ie. whether just a random dark blob or a fully raytrace-like car outline.
Your example zoomed in and showed just a bottom area so you couldn't see the entire outline changing to be more accurate of car outline.
still so much room for improvement

are the fps droping at 4:06 in ultra?
I loled at the comparison on ultra settings in the rain scene, the frame rate was so stuttery, the least they could do is run the comparison with a capable pc...
Roy Wright I am sorry that my 2x 970 GTX SLI, 6-Core CPU, 16 GB DDR4 RAM wasn't capable to do so. I should really buy Quad-SLI GTX Titan X, you are totally right. I start saving money right now, maybe I can afford this in 10 years. The whole video is ruined.

reflection is one of those things where the highest doesnt necessarily means more realistic. in the case on the video, Low seems too be more realistic, while ultra does look "better" with very high reflections.
Ill be waiting for the comparassion of ps4 and pc :D

As many games today project cars also use consoles for the base hardware.in a lot of games we see this happen, option low, some effects are off like bloom and reflections aside of those effects the texture quality remain the same along with polygons,as a result you can crank up your res on what level you want but you will get the same texture with better edges,the overall number of pixels will remain the same.To be more straightforward take a look at crysis the old one at low and compare to ultra,you will see a different game compare to low,unlike today games limitations.

Didn't know that this game is out already....
I personally play this game on Ultra. But for people with less of a PC than me this game is still appealing. It still looks decent on low settings.
Also wenn das Low ist und performant läuft, dann ist das eine wahnsinnig gute Engine. Die Unterschiede liegen hier scheinbar mehr bei den Effekten und paar mehr oder weniger sind wahrlich zu verschmerzen.

You need 2 gtx 970 to play it on 4k mostly ultra settings to get around 60 fps most of the time.
CTC - Car Technology Club Just tried it. 4k works but only on normal and i get about 40 fps
the only difference between low and ultra are less fps
Is it me or did the frame rate take a big hit on ultra with the rain. Which should be expected, but it looked like it fell by more than half

Man merkt meiner meinung nach fast keinen Unterschied zwischen Low und Ultra! Außer, dass die Kanten halt geglättet sind. Aber es lohnt sich eher Medium auf 4k zu spielen als Ultra auf fullHD.. :D

minimaler unterschied zwischen low und ultra man merkt es kaum vor allem bei 7:57.
da ist es besser auf medium in 4k zu spielen als auf ultra in full hd

Hmmm. I don't see a hugely compelling reason to try to push things to ultra based on the evidence presented in this vid. Even low wasn't exactly terrible.....in fact, it didn't look too bad at all, IMO.
So the difference on ultra is that the Sun blinds you... :D
