My settings
I have mixed in some left and right vibration into the pedals.
Wheel lock for the brake pedal, acceleration and wheel slide in the throttle pedal.
Expandable to 12 Motors
Each motor shield can support 4 motors and these are stackable.
The video shows how to add 2 motors to give the basics.
Additional force feed back motors can be added on your rig or seat.
Supported Games
Assetto Corsa
Project Cars
Codemasters games
Dirt Rally
Iracing
Automobilista/ RF1
RF2
Raceroom
ETS2 ATS
SIMBIN
LFS/RBR
Tested and gameplay in Assetto Corsa
Note: The 12V power supply is adjusted in the sketch to output 5V. It is possible to run more voltage through your motors but this may shorten their life. I have shown the "safe" base setting.
It is recommended to wire power directly to the motor shield as shown in the video.
Thank you for watching, all questions and feedback are welcome.

This is by far the best channel for all racing simulator mod fans..
i support your answer
100% I just brought the inverted pedal guide and template for like $5 made the job amazing.
@@shawnforbes6495 heck yeah, even for truck simulator games.
And non expensive one at that
Absolutely agree!🙌🏼
I actually wrote to Logitech a few years back and suggested this to them. They told me they didn't see the advantage.
Logitech people are massive tools lmao
@@lewisheaven2365 yeah seriously. Consoles have been putting feedback into their control pads for years. It stands to reason that adding feed back to a $300+ dollar peripheral like a throttle or pedals would make sense.
What is the advantage? pedals in racecars dont shake? isnt it supposed to be realistic
@@Impetuss they dont shake...but you can feel the rev of the engine through your feet. You can feel the throttle to the engine. In simtools you can set the telemetry to have it kind of kick when you change gears and kind of low rumble when you are braking so Its also an indicator of tire grip , think about it your braking and your tires lose grip and suddenly that slight rumble goes smooth. It's not really just about realism it's about feedback.
Henrik sure about that
Completed this last weekend. Feedback when your wheels slide on the corresponding pedal is very informative. Makes it easy to feather the gas right on the line of traction and burning out.
Tip: put the lighter weighted motor on the accelerator for quicker response. My brake has 4 weights and the gas has 2 weights (I have the same kind of stacked weights on my motors and removed some to make it just 2 weights. I didnt like the feel of the heavy vibe on the gas pedal). I also set the max motor output to 200.
THANKS FOR THE TUTORIAL!!
What you mean 4 weight and gas 2 weight
@@diamondjing2746 I presume he meant how on each motor spindle you have a few plates and that he has four such plates on one and two on the other
So its to give feedback? For example shaking if you start to spin out and stuff?
What pedals do you have
I just completed this pedal mod on my T3PA Pro pedals. Your video was the inspiration for doing this, and thanks to your excellent guidance, everything worked first time perfectly. A huge thanks to you amstudio! Before this, I had never touched a soldering iron, or messed around with circuit boards. I feel like I have really accomplished something.
Awesome!
how did you mount the motors? on the back of the pedals or on the base?
@@S41t4r4 directly on the back of the pedals. I used 50mm bolts to give me the length to attach the p clips.
@@grahamcremer4956 That sounds great. Thanks. I have the t500rs pedals and I basically found only examples that mounted the Motors on the base/frame of the pedalset.
@@grahamcremer4956hey mate any chance you could show us what you’ve done? Would love to do it on mine. How is it going too?
your videos are super peaceful to watch. I sold my g920 and still watch all your videos haha
Awesome mod, easy to do and worked flawlessly. This is a complete game changer, thank you.
I love your channel, quality vids, innovative, informative.... just perfect.
If you could just post more often
this is really satisfying, ngl absolutely binge watching your channel for ages
Stop being so fricken awesome man!!!
My misses tried my Sim today and she said it would be great if the pedals gave some feedback lol
You are amazing friend! I love your projects!
That is awesome work! Think I will be making use of this great video/idea thanks for this!
I am blown away by the quality of this channel.
Incredible work and simple showing! Thanks a lot!!!!
Had to subscribe for this,
great video and editing 👍
I love your channel man I have been subbed for quiet some time and I love the mods you engineer thank you very much your a wizard
Very clean and functional solution, nice!
Hi. You appear to have missed installing.the Adafruit Motor Shieldl v2 library. I wondered why I got an error compiling the sketch. Once I installed the matching library it uploaded and worked perfectly :)
you just gained your self a new subscriber :D
wow .... you and your amazing upgrades..... love it.... thanks
Video on point as always!
Damn bro you are the most innovative sim racer. I wish I had the same gear and knowledge you had bout electronics. I did fix the brake on my g920. Now I need a handbrake. Nice video!
I use a joystick which i have for flight simming. What you can do is take and old controler and just make a handbrake and then just make a switch which when you press the handbrake it has a contact point and the switch is pressed. Now from that just wire 2 cables that will make the switch be pressed. Now just set it up in game and your done. I will try this but as of now my g920 is broken and im sending it back
Meu Deus, Você Manda Muito Bem Nesse Mod Parabéns Seu Canal é TOP :D
Love your videos, man!
Mad Professor is back! Wait it says AMSTUDIO on that PCB :) nice edit top job once again...
he does that alot. sneaky branding
Another great video! Thanks!
Wow man , awesome , no need to ditch my CSR Elites for the CSPv3's anymore !
You Sir are a genius!!
Thanks for sharing.
I shouldn't watch your video anymore! I'm spending too much money xD
Good video, I was looking for a mod like this since I can't afford some nice pedals (like the fanatec one)
Exactly what i am looking for. Thanks a lot !
where did you find the software? Do you just need simhub or also firmware updates like in the video?
@@alvise120 i don't know yet as i still have to make the build, but il will post a video once i have done it !
Amazing, keep it up!
Thank you so much. I completed my project today and this video is super clean. The music is not so bad either . Awesome!!
Very nice! I was just musing about pedal FFB with a friend the other day. The G25 pedal connector has two unused pins, it would make a super neat installation to include the microcontroller into the pedal base, upgrading the cable to include the two pins as USB lines and just having to use an extra power supply cable. And since no G25 today will have any warranty whatsoever anyway...
Great idea!
you sir, are my HERO!!!!
You must be ridiculously clever to be able to make this and every video amazes me Great work
Great tutorial.I made this, couple months ago and then the the arduino display and last sunday i finished the button box. Next project will be Audi DTM steering wheel for G25 with magnetic gear paddle.
Thank you Amstudio.
Your welcome. Awesome work!
I can't get the motors to work in game(Project Cars 2) it works in the Shakeit software when running the tests, but none of the sims games any tips to get this working?
REPLY
doing this tonight thank you for the guide
Woow another great idea, sadly I only play on consoles so I have to settle with a bass shaker installed on my pedal set for know.
just did it and this is fantastic! And it can be done with the wind simulator on the same motor shield.
But how to you simulate acceleration slide with simhub, i just see wheel slide...?
You are the best, thank you for the video
Is it possible to put a rumble on a shifter without getting in the way?
Sir, you are awesome!
I followed this video to do this ffb mod. Got all the parts of a local store. Managed to do everything, download the software, test the motors, but can't get it to work with raceroom or with F1 2017
Great video mate, I have shared it on my twitter and facebook pages :-) Cheers, AussieStig
Thanks AussieStig! Appreciate the support!
My pleasure mate, keep up the good work :-)
i just bought everything to make this !!!! you are awesome
did you have a link for the box you used?
It was from a local electronics shop so no link. But search online for plastic enclosure.
did u have de sizes? alreafy bought one 10x6x2.5 and 11x6.5x4.5.. thanks for whis tutorial. one month till everything arrives and work on it. u awesome
Yeah parts take a while to collect!! Box is approx 3.5"x2.5"x1.5"
yes, i will do this mod and a handbrake with the arduino pro micro you make with one g29 pedal, i send my g29 to warranty and have the old one for spare parts. i also have the velcro mode in the old one..keep modding bro
fucking amazing video! inspirational. very well done and a pleasure to watch. thank you.
really nice bro new sub
Hey! Noob question here.
If I may ask, why use the ext pwr of the shield and not the arduino output? Does it have to do with power limitations? (since the motors are working fine while using arduino dc)
Excellent mod and a must have!!!!
Thank you for this, may I ask where I could find a plastic box in your video?
excellent tutorial video. so, it doesn't feel strange that the pedals vibrate? i mean, real car pedals dont vibrate unless abs is activated. i've always been skeptical about vibrating pedals but u r saying must do, so maybe must do since u have shown us how. :) thanks!
Hi! I followed you tuto and everything is working great. Thank you to you and Wotever... ;-) . Question : Can I use the inputs of this arduino to map a buttonbox or is it locked by the motor shield card? I'm noob in arduino... ;-)
thanks man!nice video
thanks so much for giving me a kick into sim DIY. I'm building a bunch of these. ORSM channel!!!
Great work,
Thanks for tutor.
waiting for PS4 :)
another great video...i may try ths project to.lol. looks fun to do....thanks again..
this would work with teensy? very cool man, I love your projects
Hey @amstudio, I always wanted to simulate all the vibrations inside the car, like the engine, brake lock, the kerbs, and so on, but with bigger rumble motors...
It would be a good idea, wouldn't?
Excellent!!, I made the mod on DR 2.0, and works perfectly, only thing, dont use shakeit, use simhub, than use 20777 port for telemetry not 20778 like say the instruction, thanks amstudio.
What to do with the Arduino Motor Shield L293d Bridge Driver H? I did not find the Motor shield V2
Clean job
Cool modd! 😎
at the 6:00 minute mark its shows you installing the power socket but you make not mention of it in the parts used section. Can you simply purchase one or do you need to make one?
I just ordered my first wheel for sim racing and this was my biggest concern. Not being able to feel when the brake was starting to grab.
My accelerator nut on my Logitech G27 literally can't be turned, So I can't remove the plate on my accelerator, so frustrating.
Now that's what i'm talking about. I'm about to Macgyver the fuck outta my setup!
I'm guessing it's possible to remove the entire internals from dual shock controller and make this?
O melhor canal do tipo! The best os category!
brilliant! even more info for the driver :)
does anyone know how to make this work with version 3 of motor shield? got everything assembled here when i get the error, Error compiling for board. Thanks
Thanks for this great project I will check if it works with ets2 and do it
? :)
Why do you need pedal feedback for ets2?
So what's with the left/ right vibration? also can you have the same motor vibrating for multiple FFB outputs? or is it better to have multiple motors on the same pedals for each of those FFB outputs?
Is this also possible to use for the clutch pedal, where it vibrates when slipping the clutch? Right now the clutch is a limp pedal without vibration to tell you when you're actually slipping.
Dude! Awesome work, could you please tell me how do i recognize my "max motor rumble output" as I'm approaching this kind of thing right now and I'm a bit confused.
Keep up the work :D
Definitely DOES work with iRacing! I just got it to work. Feels better than before. More immersion. Every project amstudio throws up on the channel is straight brilliant.
Can I upload the sketch together with the e-break ate the same arduino pro mini? In the same ide.
2.5 years old but how did you step the 12 PS down to 5v? I was wanting to run 3 rumblers and a fan off this but no way to control separate voltage that I see
This is a great application to receive alot of tactile DETAIL return on monetary investment albeit with a larger labor and knowledge base requirement for bringing the system together... I'd have to say that, due to time constraints, I'll stick w/ the overall performance level range of tactile feel from some bass shakers / tactile transducers mounted to the seat, wheel and pedal assemblies driven from a steeply cross-overed / filtered low-frequency signal to a subwoofer amp for the amount of time and labor required to mount some kind of tactile feedback not to mention a single amp used to give all sensations with enough power to blur my vision through my seat back.
Great all around how-to vid nonetheless! Keeping track of this build application for potential in a suitable future application!
Tip on tactile transducer mount near / to wheel assembly : damage / wear can occur to wheel housing, internals especially if turned up high and shakes the thing to bits.
Hands, joints also get sore when holding on to the vibrations... still need to assess wheel tactile feedback...
I know that you can help me.My logitech g920 pedals have a problem when i got into the game the car starts revving and the game says my gas clutch and brake are 100% pressed while they arent at all
I am using an Arduino Uno and Motor Shield to control 2 PWM fans in a wind sim using pins 9 and 10 on the board with the fans being connected to constant 12v. This uses outputs 5 and 6 (I'm using SimHub). It seems like I could use the motor outputs on the motor shield which currently aren't being used to control these vibration motors. Is it possible to output 12v to the fans and also 5v to the vibration motors at the same time using one Arduino Uno or should I just use one for the wind sim and one for the shake it weights?
awesome, my diy pedals must have this one, hehehe,
where is
the script the race deparment down load does have an scripts the examples are empty
how do you down load the firmwire onto the arduino
Dude, that's great ! a question, did you printed the box or bought anywhere ? can I find in aliexpress for example?
Hi, it's possible to add a motor for the Handbrake lever and the clutch pedal? they can shake when you lock the rear wheels and when you push the clutch.
Do you have to open up shake it everytime before opening up project cars?
Hi there, if i have a 12v rated large rumble motor. Would the motor shield be needed for this project? thanks for making this guide! Where in the sketch can I change it back to 5v?
Very good tutorial my friend. There is something like this for rFactor?? pls answer me if is possible.
Hi, I have the case 3D printed and the Arduino and motor shield installed.
Daft question, so please forgive me. Is the maxMotorRumbleOutput value of 106 the setting that reduces the output to 5 volts? Many thanks. I am in the process of carting my PC etc to a different room. My granddaughter moved back in, so she now requires my room. Once that is complete, I will finally get around to stripping down my pedals and attaching the motors! I modified the case I printed to support a power switch, to kill power to the Arduino. But so far, the Arduino and shield are powering up! Thanks once-again.
Late comment I know, but I wonder if you could do what I did for my clubsport shifter. I don't race, but do truck in ATS, and I have a large bass transducer on my chair. It's good, but the shifter was basically dead, and who wants to watch a tac for shift points?
I mounted a small transducer to the underside of the club sport, and now I have more than enough feedback coming through the shaft.
Great video i'm search for all parts now what i'm wondering do I need to get the part at 5:14 if my Uno has one already? If I do need it where can I find it or what is it called i'm a noob to ardunio, and the wiring where can I get that or any wires will do?
There is several versions of motor shield: v2.0,v2.1,etc... All will be compatible with the shakeit package?
How does it work on Raceroom Race Experience, is there somthing I have to set in game ?
HI bro, i have this error: no matching function for call to 'min(float&, int) .....when i try verify. Can u help me pls?
Would it work if I used 2 of the motor ports on the motor shield for the rumble and 2 for wind sim? I don't want to have to buy 2 Arduinos and 2 motor shields. Do you think it will work?
so i ripped apart a controller to get the motors and noticed that on is big and on is small, in this video you have borh big. what pedal do you recommend i put the small one one. (Edit) Just use 2 big ones the small one feels terrible.
Hello, GREAT WORK!
Is the motor shield linked on ebay the SAME as an Adafruit Motor Shield v2?
Thanks,
-David
If I combined this runmle motor mod with inverted pedals, should the motors stay on the same end? Attached to the same M6x1 mounting bolt or go on the opposite mount so they stay at the top when pedals are mounted upside down
You are truly a man among boys...
I hope you still respond to comments on old videos, I am looking into doing this mod myself. My question is since its stackable and uses shakeit. will it interfere with my shake kit transducers from srs? Im already running a bunch of srs but i like this version for the pedals rather than their pad design. not sure what they were thinking with that. But i want to make sure that im not going to cause conflicts with their software when i start adding my own that i downloaded from Arduino
Can you still wire up buttons to the remaining pins? Like for example making a button box and this with one aduino
