I had been in a week-long meltdown- I am not a materialistic person, I am striving towards a minimalist lifestyle and was stressing over how I will pack "ALL THE STUFF" we own/ move it all / afford everything bla bla bla. The evening I was at the peak of my stress I took a shower, crawled into bed, and saw you had just posted your video -- about losing EVERYTHING. It immediately brought me back to earth. My heart has been with you since you posted the initial video, and I am so glad you provided an update today. Your attitude is beautiful, I thought I was strong and good at coping, but I clearly have much to learn. I felt compelled to donate to your GoFund even though you were already at 10x what you "needed" because I know you will share the "wealth" to your fellow Californians in need.
Regarding your videos/posts just do what you feel is right, if you are ready to work on and share videos, do so. Please make sure you take care of YOURSELF and your FAMILY first, it is easy to spread yourself too thin amongst the chaos- your fanbase will be here when you get back.

Hey Man, i know how you feel. My home was wreckes in Hurricane Harvey and its still in repairs. So, i know how it feels losing your home to a natural disaster and the festivities around the corner. You are doing an amazing job and if there were more people like you, this would be a better world. It's ok to break down man, but in a few months, you will look back and see how much you've sustained. I don't watch your videos, my girlfriend does and she loves them. She has a lot of respect for you and she loves how you are trying to be positive. I depart by saying that, as long as you remember what you lost, it can still come back. Try surviving a Hurricane Harvey, and the flood that followed.. Not sure what would be worse, watching my house burn to the ground or repairing massive water damage and no rescue for 3 days..
It did yes.. though not as bad as most in my area.. My entire first floor of my house was under 3-4 feet of water... We had to spend about 2 days in a upstairs crawl space, with very little food.. but it could of been worse.. My house is being renovated as I speak and of course my insurance does not cover floods..

*The states that are having wildfire problems should have people buying some kind of fireproof container to put their possessions in that they can’t really take. It would be good to have important documents and other valuables in there when you know a fire is getting close to your neighborhood.*
D E N V R problem with those are that the insides of these containers heat up to crazy temperatures. Most commonly fire proof gunsafes are examples of this. Guns will melt and ammo explodes. Nice idea but doesnt work.

It's called a safe, that's what they're made for lol. And no, usually guns don't melt and ammo doesn't explode, that's only if the rating of the safe is exceeded, and if that happens nothing in the safe will make it anyway. There are tons of excellent very fire resistant safes on the market, many with document sleeves and cool pouches to put important fragile (temperature sensitive) things like papers, photos, and hard drives, and being a safe, you get the added bonus of preventing theft after the fact in case of looting. Also, in the case of a wildfire, nothing is guaranteed safe, the temperatures are much higher than a regular building fire and for much longer duration too, but a safe is a very wise investment regardless, and there are tons of examples of safes making it through wildfires without any harm to the contents inside, the key is getting a quality one.

Watching this video I kept looking around my house thinking what I would save if I had 10 minutes to grab everything. My dog. My fish. Computers. Photo albums. It really makes you wonder what’s irreplaceable.
I'm lucky I don't have any physical photo albums or anything else like that I care about too much. I have everything stored on a Synology NAS. I take that one, place it inside my PC's case. Then throw all of me, my SO's and daughter's clothes in one of those big plastic bags (you know, the black ones?) and run outside. That's pretty much everything important imo. If the NAS burnt down I'd cry for years. We have 100k+ photos on it including every photo ever taken of our daughter. So many memories. It's irreplaceable. Actually, I'd probably only take the NAS with me because if my PC burnt down I'd get a better one with the insurance. It's worth a lot, I could afford 2x3090s with the money I'd get. Haha!
