Some people just have a natural gift for teaching. You are one of those people! So insightful and you always manage to find such simple ways to explain complicated things. It makes learning about soap making so much less daunting. Thank you Elly!
Thank you so much
I've been making soap for years and you are the first person who I've come across that has explained it well enough to understand correctly. I'll be referring people to this video and your channel. Awesome job, be blessed and thank you sweet lady.
Thank you so much Margaret, I appreciate that very much.
Excellent description! I'm very relieved to finally get this. Your other video will fill in the gap about how to decide how much water I should have in my recipes. Thank you!!!
When I first bumped into this video, I was really confused. But, after I made my first bars; thanks to your videos that have made me a lot more confident,- and want to move on making the liquid ones using your guide videos, too; I find this video very useful. I can't thank you enough, Elly! Stay safe and warm greetings from always warm Indonesia.
Your explanation makes it clear! Thank you!
Elly, thanks for your practical and informative video. As always, you have been extra generous in sharing your wonderful knowledge - it is appreciated. Im looking forward to your upcoming videos.
Thanks Nicole, me too!
So sweet of You, My Teacher ! The effort you have taken to explain lye concentration is outstanding. Hope someday you will be able to clear the remaining confusion (as you say ). I really have become your fan.❤
Thank you so much!! This was so extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to explain this, and explain it so thoroughly!!
Makes complete sense, thank you. I think the white board is perfect for this.
I really struggled with this when I first started soaping but after your first video it finally clicked. Thanks for being so informative.
That's great to hear Dana, you're very welcome :)
Dana Phillips she’s the reason I’m making soap I couldn’t understand anybody’s videos 🥴but I came across her older video and it wasn’t until then 🤫there was a light 💡 came on in my head ...I got it I understand what she’s saying 😂 and formulated my recipe and I have been making soap every since.. she’s a blessing ❤️
Hi Elly i’m one of those people that struggle when I hear people giving instructions on RUclips saying water discount. My confusion is for example I want to use coconut milk instead of replacement of distilled water ... I would use milk not water right, the same amount that’s indicated in the Column under water, in Soapcalc? I’ve seen your video 4 times, comprehend a bit? Could you give other examples like if you are following a recipe from scratch? Thanks Odalys

Thank a lot, Elly. You're the best teacher and guider
Thank you so much! I was literally scratching my head about this yesterday.
You're so welcome!
Have you considered publishing a book? Btw, you have become my first go to on youtube, I am a fan.
Thank you so much, yes if all goes to plan I hope to take a year off work next year to write my books (sourdough bread and soap making), develop a website and make more videos! It has been hard to do much this year with my day job, but hopefully next year there will be a lot more time for 'Elly's Everyday' - thanks for asking! :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS!
I would soooooooo buy your soap book!!!
Khati Kathi I also agree 💗
I was going to ask the same thing! So exciting!
i have being listening to everyone as possible getting hints and tips , but i always remember to come home to mama , because she speaks the truth with open understanding.
Yes it makes total sense. You are a great teacher. Thank you
You and your whiteboard 😂👍! Love it! Simple technology always works best. Great explanation - this is the first video that I’ve watched on this subject and not felt my eyes rolling into the back of my head. Bravo 👏
Haha I love your comments Trisha! Thanks. Glad you liked it. I felt like my brain may have exploded at a few points - but I made it!
Thank you! You couldn’t have been more clear, or helpful. I had to play the video twice, but that was my brain, not your clarity. You are so generous with your knowledge and skills. Again, thank you for taking your time to share with us newbies. I cannot thank you enough.
You're very welcome. I had to film this three times, so I get where you're coming from! :)
I absolutely understood this Elly! Thank you. My new favourite Teacher :)
So well explained, thank you so much! Must be a nice feeling knowing that thousands of people are learning from you (and very appreciative)!
Thank you Joan, it's quite strange actually! But I'm very honoured by all the lovely feedback.
Thank you for this great tutorial Elly! I learned how to make sourdough bread from you, and now I am learning how to make soap! I started watching you back in March, the soap making tutorials, and started making soap in July! It’s very addictive. And I do formulate my own recipes, couldn’t have done it without you!
That's so great Terry, I'm happy for you! Thanks for your feedback :)
Yes... I want thank you too to Elly for this great tutorial. Because of you, now i can make my soap with my own recipes. You make it easy for me to learned how to make soap. Although i not good in English but i understand what u talk about. I'm from Indonesia. Thank you so much 😘🤗

this is such a clear explanation! and I love your accent!!
Thank you for going into these details!
I think you explained this so well I wish I had these videos when I first started soap making! Haha thank you
Elly, you are a star. Just love how you explain things in such simple way and make it all so simple. If you have knowledge then your smart, But if you share you knowlege then you are intelligent. thanks

Thanks Chetta, that's lovely!
Oh my gosh, you explain everything so well and so understandably. Thank you so much. And, by the way, I love your white board. I don't know if it's just me, but it was so much easier to understand your explanation with the use of a white board

Oh thank you Candice! That's very kind. I do feel quite a connection to the community of viewers on my channel. You're all so nice to me! :)

Thank you, that's a great compliment. I agree 100%!
I now finally understand this! 🤦🏽 Thank you so much @Elly! 💐🙏🏼😁
You're welcome :)
Super clear explanation as always! Thank you Elly!

Fabulous video! I keep coming back to this and you really have helped me understand the water and the lye.
You're welcome!
Your channel is very helpful... Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge and info...
Omg your are an awesome teacher! Best instructional videos ever! You should consider publishing a book with some of your recipes, I would totally buy as a great soap making reference. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Maggie, yes I will be publishing some soap making guides in 2021 :)
Elly's Everyday That's fantastic! Best of luck & let us know so we can support 🤗
Wonderful! Thanks Maggie, I'll definitely be posting updates as things develop. Got some exciting news to share soon!
Elly, this was fantastic! Yes, I have heard all of these terms, interchanged, and my eyes would glaze over my head. I finally got the "how to lower my water percentage" but you explained this brilliantly! Thank you, so much. I have learned so much with your videos and enjoy them immensely!
Thank you Gwen, that's lovely feedback :)
You r the best and I have watched hours on hours of random videos
I’m so happy that I found your page you are a good teacher on soap making
Thank you Britz
So so appreciated! You explain so well 🌟
Hey Elly! Hope you’re doing well. Thank you so much for this video which I finally got around to watching in full. You’re such a clever duck! I have to get a lot more educated to fully understand this soap tech challenge, but it’ll be good for me. I can understand why you worry a bit about us all, but remember, you are off the hook! We are all big kids and you’ve made it super clear to us throughout that soap making has its risks and is something we all have to take seriously. God knows I am so careful and meticulous with that lye! Wish I could hang with you in real life and get a thorough education in soap making from you - your friends and family are so lucky to have you - but in lieu of that thank you so much for your videos. Take care, Elly and all the best. Xoxoxo
Thanks Jill, that is so good to hear. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Yes it would be good to meet people face to face! Maybe one day... Take care x
You’re videos are extremely informative, you are the reason I calculate everything in grams , I also only use lye concentration in soap calc because of you . I have made a few batches at 1000g and it’s working .
Omg i also calculate in grams and it's weird i just recorded a soap making video for my channel... not uploaded yet. It's not a soap making channel but thought to show my friends I make my own soap. If you could check it out I'd be grateful ❤
That's great Patrice, thanks!
Thanks Stephanie. Good for you!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking thank you so so much Elly. I learnt a lot from you!
You're welcome! I'm really glad to have helped :)
Had no confusion at all! Thank you. I just subscribed 👍❤️
Excellent! Welcome :)
This truly was so easy to understand, thanks So much
Love your tutorial on the technicalities of soap making in layman's language. Loved your honesty on struggling to explain the "lye concentration", though the subject still confuses me 😄 will have to watch your video again & again 😀
Thank you so much 💕
Yes, this one can take a few tries!
Thank you very much Elly! I am just a beginner in soap making and I think I will learn alot from you 😊 Oh ! Btw you are a great teacher ,you explain it clearly but I'm still kinda confuse but don't worry it's just me being me haha I'll just watch it again to understand it very well
Thank you, and don't worry - this is still confusing to me too! It's quite a tricky topic, takes a few watches :)
Thank you soo much. With love from Tanzania. Very informative.
This is the video youtube needed.. Thank you for explaining soapcalc / these 3 methods
Aww elly.. Thank u so much for explaining the other two methods too.. And also thank u for that cute smile.. just made my day 😊❤
Ah thank you Shamila!
Can you make a wood ash soap recipe? It is really good for removing odors!
I would if I knew how! That may be something for me to research into the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
This was so easy to understand. Thank you so much
you are sooo great !!! thank you for all your accurate information
I was thinking the same as Khati. You should write a book. You have the gift of explaining the soap process very easy and in a way that makes senses. Thank you so much .
Thanks so much, I will be writing some guides this year :)
What is High Lye C means to the soap? How does it affect to the final soaps when the lye C is 30% vs 40%? More leather or less to the soap? Obviously when it's a 30% lye concentration has more water so it takes longer to cure but I am curious about leather to the soap? besides using certain kind of oils. Perfect timing for your video to show up.....Thanks so much Elly!! Especially, for the salt soaps...
Thank you Kristie, the water amount doesn't have any impact on the lather of the soap, it just takes longer to dry out :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking hi Elly,, lovely to see you! what about the Lye? High amount of Lye gives better leather?
No - this video has nothing to do with the amount of lye in a soap recipe - the amount of lye completely depends on the oils used, and the superfat amount in the soap recipe. You don't get to choose the amount of lye for your recipe - the calculator does that for you! :)
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking I completely understand what you are saying now. Thanks!!
I have been making sea salt soaps only nowwadays. Soooo soothing to the skin, 30% lye C, 20% super fat and 50% sea salt. Better suggestions?
@@mindasmind leather is a preserved animal skin, you may make boots, shoes or jackets from it. LAther is the suds and bubbles from using soap. Spelling counts! As does pronunciation. So keep it in mind that saying LAther vs. Leather is actually a HUGE difference!
Thank you so much for explaining this. I learned something new today that I needed to learn, Cheers!
Your explanations were very helpful for me. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you for clarifying this concept . I love your videos
Thanks so much Edgar, glad the video was helpful for you :)
Hi Elly, watched this last night, and felt slightly confused, I had a very long day yesterday and was tired. I watched it again this morning, and it makes perfect sense. I enjoy watching your videos, and you explain things very well. Thank you for your on going help. It is very much appreciated. I do hope you and yours are well. Take care.
Thanks Nancy, you're welcome! It's hard stuff to explain, I'm glad you gave it another go after some sleep :)

Wonderful! Thanks Frith, glad to help :)
Very helpful thank you, Elly.
Makes total sense to me. Thank you.
I am happy that you made this video. It is appreciated. Hands down the best.
Thank you Kelly!
You're welcome. I've doing 33%-38% water. I'm going to try 30% to see if my bar is harder faster.
Do you mean water as percentage of oil amount? Depending on which method you're using this could make a softer or harder soap!
@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking Yes, that's what I mean. Water as % of Oils. I do cold processed. Everything at room temperature. Never used the Lye concentration or the Water: Lye Ratio on soap calc.
You are such an amazing teacher, thank you so much
Thank you! You're welcome :)
Thank you Elly! Great Explanation!!!!
This is a good and helpful video. I am new and I feel so much more informed.
