Hi Dean. I can't thank you enough for this. You are creating serious content here. I recommend everyone of your subscribers to read your "about" section to realise how many years of your life you have dedicated learning bmw coding/programing/diagnostics etc. It takes a special person for this as it is bloody hard to learn. I have a rare E38 740i with ACC (active cruise control) which is not working. Not sure why and not sure how to fix it. There is absolutely no content there as it is such a rare option on the old E series. I believe it was available on e38 first in the end of year 2000 and only installed on 7 series e38 Would love if you can help mate. I genuinely can't think of anyone else that can help? Thanks once again for this video Dean
I just got done fixing my 2014 F30 328dxdrive. I rebuilt the t-case from a output flange and main shaft failure.
I decided to get the ISTA+ from Dean, and with the help from this video I was able to re calibrate the t-case.

hi doctor dean I have an issue with my BMW m235i where I attempted to use the Carly tool to program a digital speedo to my cluster however it appears to have broken the KOMBI device and I cannot restore it. I have had this issue before and costed me £200 to get re-coded or whatever the garage done. I was wondering if learning this software might fix my problem and will hopefully cost a-lot less than what I had to pay before. If this is something you can assist me with in what software I will need and cables etc will be much obliged.
Trying to connect my '03 540iT but ISTA will not transfer data. Shows last 7 of VIN with zeros after letters. No problem with handheld scanner Launch Creader VIII. is it because I have swapped my OE cluster for an M5 cluster? I have learned a great deal from your channel. thanks.
Hey bro outstanding video, when I try to clear fault codes with isda d with kdcan cable, half way through deleting the faults I get a pop up message saying something like turn off ignition and take key out and no button except cancel icon which cancels the process. Any light on this plz

Thanks....the way I understand it ISTA-+ would work like ISTA-D for me but wouldn't be able to program since I'm e90 and not newer....
that is all correct mate ista+ can register battery and read codes and test all features of the car ista p is programming for e series only now but can do all other cars but ista + can program f series and g series and diagnose all in one
Hey man, love your vids, got a quick question though, i'm about to buy an e46 330d and i would like to know which software i should get to use on it, whether it's the Ista that you are showing or something else, because from what i have seen from your videos is that you recommend this on an e60 and e90 but i am not sure what to get for the e46, so if you have any recommendation, please let me know. I have been using a Delphi diagnostic for a while that is more generic for pretty much all cars but has its limitations, i want something more bmw specific and more e46 and e36 specific
Hi Dean, having a no crank no start on E60 525 d LCI, had a weak battery, renewed that but didn't register to the car, now I'm wondering , is it an ews/ DME sync , crankshaft sensor or what. I have bought a laptop with BMW software installed., BUT I'm useless with computers. Put a new starter in,--- no difference, all fuses o.k. PLEASE HELP.
Hey, im still having problems with ista not being able to read the VIN on my car and when i type it in manually it does not work. I have an e91 and am using k+dcan cable. I have set the cable to com1 with latency 1ms, switch to the left on the cable, std:obd on the ediabas.ini file and com1 set in the obd.ini file. I have version 4.32.15 if that makes a difference.
Any tips would be appreciated.
06/2000 330d E46: i already have the obd2 plug in the footrest (no more plug in the engine bay) and i can communicate with the OBD Plug, but i cant communicate with the ECU. I tried a BT adapter as well (and different apps) - same result: communication to the OBD2 adapter is fine, but no word from the ECU. (ISTA/Rheingold and ADIBIAS SW with all ports checked in the config files does not work either).
I checked OBD2 voltages and fuses and i also tried connecting Pin 7 and Pin 8 to no avail. I also tried to unplug everything from the ecu and reconnect one by one, unplugging the steering angle sensor and both xenon drivers did not help either.
I am out of ideas - any suggestions?

S 0204 No Communication possible with: Transfer Box . VTG module is red in module list tree. 4×4 abs lights on..
To add more details. When I first saw 4×4 aws lights and errors 52d1 vtg transducer server motor, 52d4 vtg incremental transducer 5f3a dsc transfer case internal .. after that took to dealer. He said need to replace transfer case actuator costing 2500$. Now when I scan seeing the above errors s0204 no communication with transfer case.. Not sure if dealer disabled the system to protect. There were no repairs done

Ista can read e36 obd1 and 2 so does inpa but Inpa IS SHIT everyone always says about inpa Inpa is crappy made up software the only thing I use that for is read out of the modules that’s it Inpa is useless apart from that

ista p ????? ista p is for programming and I think your confused to run ista p you NEED A ICOM you cannot run ista p without one and a voltage stabiliser and I do not mean A BATTERY CHARGER I MEAN STABILISER
Sorry I meant ISTA-D can I get a good version from you? Some of these places to download it look shady. Do I need anything but a laptop? And is an ICOM worth spending the money on?
Ista vs inpa which is better and which is easier to use ?
Hi, really usefull video! I would like to do a dynamic drive test on my 2004 e63, but i'm a bit confused. I have a k-dcan cable and was successfully using inpa and ncs expert for diag and coding, but in inpa whenever I take live data from the car after a minute or so it pops up a warning that the operation stopped. So i'm pretty scared to start the test from there. Using ISTA on another computer it works fine with live data, but it does not recognize battery voltage/ignition on/off status so i'm not confident it can run the test either. Do you have any advice for me, or what i'm missing? :) Thanks!
You cannot do that using them programs you need way way more advanced programs for that which are only exclusive for us as bmw dealers I would if I was you bring it to us at one of our local dealers and we can help you the charge is £350 for us to do that

Good afternoon all,
Unfortunately during an ISTA D & DCAN silver cable fault code delete on my 2007 E92 330D, the laptop i use for diagnostics died.
This has now caused all modules in the control unit tree to become red and unresponsive.
The new 21 fault codes all show 'yes' in existent and a milage of -1.
It must be because the laptop switched off during the communication to the ECU.
Has anyone experienced this?
Any help from ISTA gurus would be greatly appretiated.

any chance you can give a canadian link that i can trust? i got a e36 M52b28 and e46 M3 this will work for both? or are these problems not with the older gen BMW's one you have there are newer then ones i have and i live in canada, both cars hesitate very bad at lower rpm's m3 have bran new coild and spark plugs, no engine codes what so ever on both, so i dono if its a sofware bug or something

I just want to start by saying a big thank you to BMW DOCTOR DEAN you are the software King you stepped up to the plate after i screwed up and tried to take on the battle of the diagnostic software and went the cheap route which I can tell you was a stupid move. we had to get rid of the crap programs from the other guy who thankfully is no longer around selling crap programs > Long story longer Dean helped me with my software and then due to unforeseen circumstances my computer crashed i lost everything But Dean helped to reinstall to another computer dedicated to diagnostics I highly recommend after all that and a short break to restore my brain cells Dean got on and helped me with my CAS system and interlock code issues so check out his videos on ISTA D ISTA P

I have a e93 with the engine n43b20a . Since I bought the car I had the error "30EA DeNox catalytic converter", I replaced the sensor 11787587130, due to my research, I found that this was the piece that should be replaced. But after I replaced the sensor, the error still pop-up after a few minutes from clear the error. As I checked, there need to be activated/encoded the new sensor with the ISTA D , but I don't know exactly how to do that. I assume that should be something related with the DME . I really appreciate if you can provide me a "step by step" procedure for this or in case you know any other method to fix this issue please let me know. I really appreciate your videos.

You definitely know a lot about this. I just ordered a hard drive with all the ista software hoping to diagnose my car. 2013 328i x drive. Has a code for terminal 15N_2 No Voltage. And I cant figure it out. Dealer told me everything that could be wrong and said start the the integrated supply module. If its not that try the Dme. 167 later plus another 160 for the integrated supply module no answers and just replaced and registered battery last night still codes. Any help would be appreciated.

Where can I get the latest version of ista+ D and P?
I want to run a vanos test on the ista plus but i cant figure out how. I can get to vanos tests but it wont let me run a test because there is no fault pattern.

It depends on what your trying to do and the car if you have a e60 or e90 the cas always has power even with ignition off but if you want to read out all modules ignition has to be on

X5 E70 2010 I reset the Gearbox & Engine Reset Adaptions. what was different was when i went to the last step learn valvetronic limit postions the switch 15 on/off option was there but underneath that it said check battery voltage, proceed and reset to next. so I dont know if they ever learned/reset?

Hi BMW Doctor, I recently found out about ista-d that's how I found your channel, I went through some videos and decided to give it a try myself, this morning I ran ista-d to find the fault code since I got the engine light on on my dash a couple of days ago, it was running fine scanning the car, since this was the first time I used istad I was curious and started poking around, making sure I not to click on anything that might indicate would program/code the car, so I am not sure where I clicked, last thing I remember clicking was about service plan/ measurement plan something like that, suddenly the dash in the car start showing all these lights, messages, making sounds and whatnot so I freaked out and unplugged my laptop, long story short my car does not start anymore it shows some messages, like powertrain fault, parking light fault, etc.., what I can do to fix this? My car is a BMW 15 M4, any help is really appreciated it, thanks.
You have bricked your modules during programming mode you should not have pulled the cable this is why you shouldn’t use Ista d unless you know what your doing your car was in the middle of updating your modules and you have now learnt a lesson bricked modules you should of had a icom and been using a voltage stabilizer there is nothing you can do now it’s a hard job to get all the modules back online

why do you need to realign the dme with the cas you have no need to do that where have you heard you have to do that with a battery change do not listen to that crap

I could but I don’t have cars that have them modules anymore then modules were only fitted to cars before 2006 after that they got rid of them modules and were to sgm on its own

@@BMWDoctor Actually I went for update my E60 523i through winKFP after that it is showing Airbag light though INPA can read codes but cant delete them there are 10 Errors but module is ok I thought to update my car as you said for idling issue which I had in E60

My car is 07 E60 525i US model and I installed 3 stage intake manifold from 530i so I would need the DME flashed with 330i software.
I can do that as i have same car i can use my m sport mapping for your car but did you do a new harness with the disa flaps connectors for the 3 stage aswell
BMW DOCTOR DEAN Yes. I have installed the manifold already on the car and have been driving it for a few weeks it runs fine. All the DISA valves are connected and working, it’s just and I am not getting the benefit of this intake because here in US we got N52 3.0 but Bmw installed single stage manifold and different software so they can sell it as 525i even though car has 3.0 motor in it.

I swapped my f32 seats with m4 ones and I don't have my old seats anymore so now I have the restrain malfunction code at the dashboard and is really annoying so at this point I don't have my original air bags or seat module. Can someone tell me what can I do now or put me in contact with a good coder please
And some told me that I need to register the seat air bags and seat module to the ECU using ista
Gilberto Diaz May be you just need to the reset SRS error code? You don't need ISTA to do so.
