@@Javicandraw I've followed this advice and so far ive made more sketches/ concept doodles in the past week than i had done in months. i can't believe how useful that phrase is. THANK YOU.
@@Javicandraw ive been using it to explore Monster Hunter-like designs! I'm looking at the little critters you can catch and trying to make them into the apex monsters you normally fight. its really fun. i didn't have much success before because i kept stopping mid way - I'm not really educated on actual body plans for animals but Monster Hunter rules let you blend mammalian, reptilian, piscine, and avian features with no regard to how they'd work in our world. it's so much fun splatting different creatures together and I'm learning actual info about real creatures while i do it. i think i really just needed to let myself noodle around for awhile, instead of expecting every piece to look good. i think that's what I'm getting at. i got to remember the fun part of art again 😁
im so glad i found this video. ive been focusing a lot on bodies, proportions, and how bodies move a lot more than how to draw faces. usually when i draw, i end up drawing a face of a character at the front angle and drawing a bunch of bodies. this helped me so much and made me realize that i should start drawing faces a lot more 😅
Every line of the painter seems to be infused with life, accurately outlining the contours of the character's face, the details of their facial features, and the texture of their hair. This smoothness and precision not only demonstrate the painter's profound mastery of line control, but also endow the painting with vividness and vitality.
I was told a lot throughout high school that I should do something with my art and I really want to get into animation. Making characters CONSISTENTLY is one of my biggest struggles so this helps me out A LOT. I've written out how my characters are going to be, I've done maybe a few different pictures, but I have never actually put in the time to get to know them through the drawing process. This is all a bit new for me, since I've only been drawing one picture at a time typically, and hopefully this will be something that'll help get me started on my animation learning process. Thanks for the help!
It makes me a bad person but nothing boosts my confidence like seeing masters of animation (like Don Bluth or Glen Keane) making mistakes in proportions, consistency and anatomy. =P To err is human. Although, truth be told, the masters may make like 1% mistakes while a noob would have 99%. And a pro might settle for 30-50%.
I feel the same way! In fact part of the reason why I made this video is because I was watching The Iron Giant and in one shot where Hogarth is looking up, his face looks so weird it made me wonder why it is so hard to make a character look consistent at any angle.
@@Javicandraw Because in the end it's all about feeling the mistakes. We may fix something only when we know there's something to fix. I don't know how to get good eye measurement without drawing for 16 hours each day. I'll have health issues if I do. And probably burn out for good. I mirror my art and I see it's awfully distorted. So... That explains why I wouldn't be able to draw a character from any angle. Maybe it's just me.
@@RedGallardo take it easy, not only do animators draw 10 hours a day but they also have each other to share tips and techniques that are not widely available. Most of the time, those tips are the ones that make the difference.

I’ve always wondered this. I find that turning the head is straightforward, but keeping it looking like the same character when the head is tilted up or down and the features are warped is a difficulty for me. It’s especially hard for me when the actual shape of the head is unique to the character, whether they have a very round face or a very long and thin one, I find it difficult to rotate that in space along with all the features

The feeling thing is good advice. Sometimes, you could draw a character with perfect proportions, but it still feels off. Sometimes you gotta fudge some things around to keep the feeling right
