Since I got into trout spey about 6 months ago I've been using a Reddington hydrogen trout spey in 4 weight. Primarily I've been using streamers In my area it's mostly small mouth bass and it works quite well. I would love to get the new sage trout's spey in my hands to see how it feels. It seems like we like the same kind of load in the rod. I would say try out the rio Skagit trout spey versatip in 325gr or for a lighter presentation for drys go for they scandi short in 270gr for a 4w rod I've had awesome results with both heads. nice video keep them coming
Could the 3wt be used in the Rockies? My home water is the S. Platte River and I'd love to swing more. River is about 25-50 ft wide depending on the section.
Thanks for a thoughtful review with comparisons which help me understand what distinguishes this rod. I'm swinging wet flies one or two on a cast half the time and swinging small streamers the other half on my 4wt trout spey (another brand). How does the Sage Trout Spey HD compare to a Winston Microspey, another premium stick which costs more than the Sage Trout Spey HD?
Excellent honest review. Thank you

Would love to use one on colorado tailwaters... can I throw a weighted sculpin pattern on the 10'3" 3 weight with a skagit line?

Perfect for the Platte

@bo - Trout Spey HD is a much faster rod with a lot more power. Very different feels for different casting styles.
It's a totally different rod - HD is much faster
