Another good video! We use SA Skagit lines and love them! Try Rio 10 ft replacement tips 6-7ips. I also carry a 1.5-2 ips for skinny water. We trout spey until bugs start popping!
@@FlyingTies 3 weight Trout Spey Rods seem to like 60-70 grain tips! I fish a 3 weight 4 weight and 5 weight! The 5 weight is a good summer steelhead Rod too
What trout spey rod are you using? I just picked up an Orvis Clearwater 3wt this year and have used it a couple of times. It's a ton of fun, even though my spey casting skills are non existent.
Nice! I'm using a Sage Pulse 3wt. Just think of the cast as a large roll cast, that made things easier in my mind when starting out. I'm not that great of a caster myself lol.
Good stuff! Do you put your nice camera on a tripod in the water? or have it sitting on a rock? I'm nervous to take my new Sony a6100 on the water, but need to get that good vid quality like you have going on... Congrats on hitting 1000 subs!
Not really, I actually have airflo heads for my rods and they are pretty great. I just really like a fully integrated line for my trout spey rod. It slides through the guides better on shorter casts.
I been fly fishing for 6 years got a 4 wt spey rod got a reel for it.. but havent got any line as i dont know what to get or the set up to use to unfortunately the rod an reel have been sitting there.. if anyone could give me some tips would be very grateful
My advice would be to hit a local fly shop with your rod and reel, they should be able to get you setup and ready to go. If you don't have a shop close to where you are I would check out Rio's line guide on their website. They have most rods listed and you can find their recs for your rod. Hope that helps!
Sweet video! Beautiful day and area. Decent fish to go with it. Thanks Zach for bringing us along as always!!
It really was a nice day out on the water :)
Definitely more trout Spey videos! Picked up the OPST 10 foot four weight with a Lamson speedster S HD 7+ and can’t wait to get out and use it!
Keep the trout spey coming✌🏻
Will do :)
Good stuff. Happy to see all the methods you use to catch those bad boys. Thanks for sharing.
You bet!
Thats the set up I use. Works great. Thanks for vid.
No problem 👍
Love fishing Oregon waters as well as the Yakima! PNW has great waters!
Sure does!
Really fish I was into contact nymphing and trout spey when I was living close to the D... enjoyed the video!
It’s a great river for it!
You do great work ;) nice video for sure.....
Thank you very much!

yeah I have like 5 different tips I use on that line but the 5ft float/5ft sink is kinda my go to for most situations, at least for the summer months.

Yes more trout spey
Sounds good!
I use that same line. I like it too. Be heading out there in a few weeks to do the same thing. Well, def gonna bring a dry fly rod 😉
Awesome!
Awesome video. What’s your net setup?
It's a net I picked up from www.tacticalflyfisher.com/nets-accessories/ but it looks like it's sold out currently...
Try using a wet fly with the spey, the takes are amazing.

haha, thanks man. I have a small gorilla pod thing and I mostly just live on the edge and place it where I can.
Is that the Sage Trout Spey Reel?
You are correct
have you ever eaten a white fish if yes they any good I live on Vancouver Island there aren't any here.
nope, I release everything I catch
Are SA heads better then the OPST commando heads?

@@FlyingTies You can always do a tube weld for head to run line with having to buy the whole integrated.
@@johnkenny694 yeah for sure, I have extra spools so I can swap out if needed. I just always kinda end up using the integrated one lol
Love the links to the gear...but dude the Shades are sweet! What are they?
Haha they are Smith glasses
Dude, I love whitefish so much. I wish they weren’t just a bycatch to so many.
They really are. I still dig em though
