    great scene that makes so many people emotional. But strangely, I feel like the coolest character in this scene is Ubbe. Hvitserk definitely wanted to die, purely because he saw the light to Valhalla. He was on his way to his father and Sigurd, and to Bjorn, that was a no no. Kinda sad that he didn’t just let his brother die.

      His own brother killed his mother and betrayed him several times. ubbe is the only one not to betray Bjorn after the protection he tried setting for the brothers. He always made it clear that brothers must stay together yet hvitserk, Sigurd, and ivar did anything to tear them apart

    • @demidone
      @demidone Год назад +19

      @@SaltyCadoLagertha being killed by Hvitserk can be seen as rightful vengeance given the woman killed his Mother. Something Bjorn ignored and passed off, and with that, it’s beyond hypocritical regardless of who the women were to not do the very same. That’s the only thing that bothered me about this. Whilst Hvitserk struggled choosing his own path, following one brother to the other, Lagertha did kill his Mother and when her back was turned nevertheless, so it annoyed me how Bjorn acted like Lagertha had never wronged Hvitserk. And beyond that, Hvitserk did not even mean to kill Lagertha (who was told this was fate anyhow).

    Lagertha forgave her killer by saying it was a fate that neither of them could escape. She understood there was no malice or planning/malignant intent in her killing. I also think she loved all children of Ragnar since she so loved Ragnar. Because of this, Bjorn could have shown his half brother some mercy. He could have spared him death and just banished the man to live away from his own folk forever. Because his half brother felt so much guilt, this would have been a more potent punishment...and life-long.
