I am in the same boat Oscar. I think the new one looks more elegant, but the overal design language is a bit too round for my taste. This one looks a bit more dynamic.
The newer benz models are the best hands down imo. But the problem I have with it is they look to similar to each other. From a distance you think it's a S-Class until you get closer.
@Gas Pedal Subscribe landrover are used as police cars... Bmw too, mustangs, chargers, they have a Lamborghini in England, so your point is??? The car is doing their purpose moving people around, may I ask again your point is?
I've owned one for about 3 years now (Performance package as well) and I can say this review is dead on accurate. Only ugly I can add is if you own a 2008-2011 model and don't know if the head bolts have been changed, go on ahead and get your head bolts swapped to the updated ones. Other than that the car is relatively easy to maintain as well (if you do your own oil changes make sure you have a large enough reservoir or your garage floor is going to be a mess).
Yes, the facelifted models look a little better but i do like the pre facelift models a lot too. Maybe im a bit bias since i own one myself, not the amg but the regular model 😄
Yes I love my facelift too. I think this is the best shape and I wouldnt wanna change it ever if possible. dont like newer shapes one bit. facelift is from 2011 for the record.
I don’t think you have a C63 with the P31 AMG development package which has the SLS pistons, rods and crankshaft because it doesn’t have the dark intake manifold or the red brake calipers. You may have an earlier C63 with the P30 performance package which did not have any difference in the engine from a regular C63.
Indeed it is! The transmission might be the biggest "flaw" when you compare it to a more modern cars, but those modern cars don´t have that sweet M156 :)
The Extra Mile so these engines dont have Common problems Like The e92 M3 Rod bearing, throttle actuator, etc etc? What mileage is the best to look for and what. Year?
I got a Eurocharged Tune on my 2010 C63 and it makes a huge difference in the shifting. It’s not that expensive either and adds a supposed 90 crank hp. In the US it only costs around $1200 and has a warranty. If you use the auxiliary input you have to have your phone volume down by a few clicks and it gets rid of the distortion. I had the Harmon/Kardon system however
Thank you for the reply and congrats on the sweet ride! I will get a full exhaust and tune this summer, can’t wait to unlock the true potential of the M156! :)
Great review! I've had my 2013 W205 C63 Coupe for 2 years now. Zero regrets. in my opinion, I wish the rear tires were significantly wider to handle all that power the engine puts out. But I do like the fact that the infotainment system supports AM/FM radio, satellite radio, 6 CDs, bluetooth, auxiliary, SD card, music register (hard drive), and more.
Oh man congrats on the sweet ride!! What size tires do you run on yours? The widest I can fit at the moment are 265s at the rear, and I also wish that I could go wider still. 285s would be ideal I think, anything wider and the car might start to understeer a bit.
@@TheExtraMile Thanks. I run the stock 235/40ZR18 in the front, and 255/35ZR18 in the rear because, believe it or not, I only have 21k miles on it and still have the ORIGINAL tires from 2013 (it came with 14k miles)! But they are just about shot, no tread or grip left. So I'll be putting some Conti "DWS 06" on them in the next few months. Same size. I posted a few pics of mine here: photos.app.goo.gl/4ZV6syWsstutGTPr5
W204 is the best model, i like it's shape, I'm having exactly the same model, same colour but is C200 , manual gearbox . It's a very reliable vehicle have been driving it for some year's now without any mayor problems. It's fuel consumption is affordable, but would like to own the same model but C350 when my pocket allows me. Thanks for your video it was very excellent, showing the beats what he's capable off...
Yeah your description is pretty much right on the money. The only real downside is that it´s pretty thirsty, but you will get lots of smiles in return :)
Fun video and thank you. I've rented a couple C63's in the U.S. and both times I came away from that (fantastic) experience thinking- "If I buy one of these, there will be trouble. Big trouble." Very few cars make you want to misbehave like a C63. Could be its most endearing attribute. I love C63's!
Haha, yeah I know what you mean Neil. The car definitely wants you to floor and rev it to enjoy the sound of that sweet engine :) Just got front and rear strut bars delivered and will install them on Monday!
I drove a C63 , compared to my CLS55 it feels smaller and easier to place in corners , much more direct steering input compared to my car , but the CLS power delivery is much more aggressive .. im considering an upgrade but im confused between C63 or E63 2009-2012 ..
Very good summary!! I think that makes total sense. The CLS is just a bit heavier and more focussed on elegance and ride quality, where the C63 is more for cornering and sacrifices a bit of comfort. Both the C63 and E63 are great cars!! If you usually love cornering and driving at the limit, then I would go for the C63. If you more like cruising and driving fast in a straight line then you probably should go with the E63. To me the only advantadges of the E63 are a bit more Interieur space, probably a bit more comfortable and probably slightly faster in a straight line (when you compare stock performance).
The Extra Mile true .. but i consider the c63 from this era as a much more nicer looking vehicle compared to the E63 , the only problem is that its difficult to find one that is kept in a decent condition here in Dubai , i need to look more and wait for the right one to buy .. All the best wishes to you mate .
I have a 2014 507 Edition. I daily drive it lol. I also have a 991.1 Turbo S (that I was using as a daily) and decided I needed to stop putting miles on it but I didn’t want to sacrifice performance. The 507 has been the best purchase for the money I’ve made buying a car.
Joe M I had no problems mechanically with mine. I only owned it for about a year though before I sold it and it only had 45,000 miles. I really enjoyed the car and would recommend picking one up if you can afford it.
I love the way you provided details on the function of the paddles. It's a feature that gets overlooked so often and has a major impact on the performance and fun factor!
Good review. For the w204 facelift model (2012/13 onwards), there is bluetooth connectivity for music etc from your phone, also has DAB digital radio. The deadbolt issue mentioned in other comments isn't a problem in 2012+ cars. Wonderful car in general.
Actually in 2008 other cars audio system didn't supported the Bluetooth music playing very often, so it isn't a real bad point, but the range of the car really is. When me and a friend of mine went from Budapest to Germany we had to stop every 250km to fill up the tank. I have a E63 which has almost double the c63s range.
Haha yeah the range is indeed a weak point of the car. But you probably enjoyed the car quite a bit on that drive since 250 is really the lower limit of what is possible, especially on the Autobahn.
Interesting, I have just googled that. Never had heard of a pedal commander. Just to clarify though, the pedal commander affects shift times as well? Not just the linearity of the throttle?
@@TheExtraMile I purchased a Sprint Booster for my 2008 C350, its a night and day difference and makes it very responsive. When I turn it off now, I don't know how I use to bare driving it with the throttle booster.
grooviminatora I have a GLC43 AMG suv. I have always been curious to drag race the 6.3 C63 and wow how luck I was to see one approaching from behind. He passed me and no car up front until we stopped at a red light. I switched to sport plus and off traction with A/C off. Light turn green and he was a full car ahead (probably used launch control) and behold I floored it and his car screams braaahhhhh. At 45 mph I caught up and passed him. I was pulling ahead a car and half ahead where I shut down at 70 mph in a 45 mph speed zone. He was right behind and I am sure he must have been thinking how in the world did I beat him with his higher power and torque. I was thinking of getting the C63 but I have changed my mind. The V6 biturbo pulls really hard. He was off quickly due to his launch control and I experienced little bit of turbo lag. Once I get moving, I was pinned down to my seat. I think the 9gtronic transmission help me beat him also.
John Paul im a little bit old fashioned and like to go wild with the v8. Turbocharged engines are really agile and can be modded till rocket launchers, but that’s probably the last modern funmaker. Its neither this or m5 e39. 😈
I just bought an E63 W211 with the same engine that has 180 kilometers . I have never loved a car more in my life. But the camshaft problems scare me even though I take very good care of it with maintenance. It uses a lot of oil and gas but I don’t mind as long as it’s running well. I will try to enjoy the car and those lovely exhaust notes as much as i can and cross my fingers🤞🏻 that nothing happens. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience these cars because i know they won’t stay for long. Great video by the way, i get the same exact smile every-time i put the car in manual mode 😁
Scarz 7:33 it’s not bad if you get one that’s well sorted. I was one of the bmw m5 e39 fan boys and am weak for the 6 speed manual transmission they have but considering how much more reliable the AMG’s are it was an easy choice for me.
@@blackwersus Haha go ahead, you won´t regret it :) The only downside of the car is fuel consumption, she´s thirsty! But that shouldn´t matter too much unless you plan to DD the car.
@@TheExtraMile I do plan to DD it but I think about it this way that some of the fuel will come from my monthly entertainment budget because driving a fast V8 do be entertainment : D Currently DD-ing a tuned Corvette C4 but the comfort is a bit lacking lol.
@@blackwersus Niiice, I do really like the C4! And the C5 or C6 to be honest. Actually all the Cs except for the C7 and the last one. Either way, you will have fun with your new ride :)
I have the latest facelift model C63s - and I also had the exact same as you - 204 pre facelift C63... and I can confirm the newer C63 handles amazing even compared to the 204 (which I tracked too)... But I love the classic AMG look of the 204 and want to buy another now after watching your Nurburgring lap videos with this car!!!
Hi guys.. nice car very instructive video thanks for sharing. I have 2009 C350 Sport. Of course almost 200hp less but really good in gas and still very fun to drive. Between C350 and C63 is really big difference considering the price and the gas economy?
@@CTE-6000EagleVeryHeavyFighter That is an awesome pick! In my opinion the W212 is the best looking E-class so far. It has the right mix of curves and straight lines and just Looks classy and slightly aggressive from every angle. The 350 probably could sound pretty sweet with a few exhaust mods?
I love this car! Very charming and stealthy. Future classic. Looks much less sporty, than current common car, but as you will see in this case be fascinated by car isn't only about supersport design. It is and it looks like also. But not in the cheap way. Thank you for your review. Hope, It will be mine once.:)
@@TheExtraMile I guess its cheap to revert to the original. It would explain if the previous owner wanted a "sleeper" but its not possible to hide all the other visual differences.
What about cheap plastics inside the car like the knob which controls the radio. Inside it there is plastic part which breaks easily. Then the control buttons on the radio, ac, locks, etc it all fades away like it is reno and not mercedes. Not to mention tail lights and weak isolation for the ground wires. Etc etc. I really liked this model and bought c200 but I sold it after two months due to numerous problems I mentioned above but the biggest problem was that the car was shutting down itself randomly and after changing crankshaft sensor (which diagnostics showed) it was still shutting down so I didn't wanted to waste more money and sold it and lost any further wish for the mercedes.
Good point! The buttons in the Center console do indeed look a bit cheap, but they´re still okay-ish. They don´t show any wear in my case luckily. Too bad you had so many issues with your car, the crank sensor is weird. Don´t let that deter you from buying another merc though, they can make pretty cool cars occasionally :)
@@TheExtraMile my model was 2008 so maybe I give it a try with a newer model but I was really disappointed since when you mention mercedes the quality comes on the first place but it seems like they compromised on their biggest strength and selling point.
the looks and the power of this car are the greatest i think.. old stuff is usually better including the steering and the V8, i do prefer the facelift?.. the not the 2015-16 one but the different headlights and front fascia which this had.. the same gen E63 is also one of the greats! Liked the video!
I’m sorry but I’m a huge BMW guy and I love the E9x M3 I just see pure disgust when I see this car, it’s prob a great car but I can’t like it for many reasons other than just being biased the main ones are: bmw was into v10s for the M5 while Benz was still in v8s for the e class amg, I don’t like the pre facelift version of this car, never did, no manual gearbox available and the auto that was the only option is very sluggish, while the M3 had the lighting fast dct+ a manual option, I like the M3 sound more, looks more, it had a better 0-60 and track times with lower displacement and power figures, + so many other reasons, I’m sure it’s a great car though even though I would never want it
Oh the E92 M3 is definitely a great car too! Love the looks and if you compare stock vs stock it will definitey outhandle my car. The main reason why I chose this one is the engine. You don´t get big n/a engines anymore and I personally just love the 6.2 in this car. I also really, really like the styling of the W204. But in the end this is very subjective. If you´re a BMW guy, then that is perfectly fine :)
So you are just a BMW fan boy? No car is perfect and as a BMW owner that's not a car I would recommend as it relates to reliable. This car is a better drive train when it comes on to reliable engine.
I have a GLC43 AMG suv. I have always been curious to drag race the 6.3 C63 and wow how luck I was to see one approaching from behind. Hmm, that is interesting. That is actually the opposite of what should happen. You should have the launch advantage because of AWD and then the C63 should slowly start to overtake. Who knows, maybe he didn´t really floor it towards the end or he had some car issues. There is no way that the GLC43 accelerates faster at medium or high speeds due to the higher drag and lower power. Still an awesome car, don´t get me wrong, but it shouldn´t work this way.
The Extra Mile his reaction time was really quick because my car hesistated (lag) a bit before I got pinned to my seat. At 45 mph his car was screaming and he was shocked and looking at me passing him. He floored it and as soon as I let go at 70mph he just accelerated passed me and got in front of me hahah. His car was screaming braaaahhhh until I shut off. I don’t even have a tune. I have done 0 to 60 time in as little as 4.1 to 4.2 seconds. Check out my video under the name ayod orgu. Type GLC43 AMG 0 to 60.
@@topo520 You must have a really special car or maybe it has a tune from the previous owner or something? Just looked on RUclips and the stock car here made 5.0 secs from 0 to 100 km/h and 15 secs from 100-200 km/h (the stock C63 does it in a bit under 10), so something is a bit weird here. Anyway, it´s awesome how quickly your GLC can move man! And it´s a lot more practical than the C63 especially when it comes to fuel economy.
The Extra Mile I bought it brand new 2017. People keep asking if it has a mode which it does not. When I bought it, it was a showroom demo. First year of the GLC43
The Extra Mile just today a Mercedes SL550 2 door pulled up next to me at a light. He was car and a half in front at the light next to me. Light turns green I floored it while he was almost a car in front I passed him at 40 mph putting full car length in him and I stopped at 50. He drove by and waved lol. At least he’s not like the guy in the C63 who pulled right in front of me. I researched and found out the SL550 has 4.2L V8 with 428 hp and 518 torque with 0 to 60 time of 4.1 seconds!! I need to buy a cam so I can upload some videos as well. This is quiet interesting.
Definitely nothing bad per se, but the speed of the gearbox is quite a bit slower than what you would find in a 2019 car. Still, it does a great job for a classic automatic!
Is this car worth to get? I will eventualy look for a facelift version maybe 2011 ish year model. Besides healdbolt issue, what else should one future c63 buyer look for? And maybe try to replace (myself) or in a workshop? Been a lot on mbworld forums but cant really get a straight answer.
I am obviously biased, but I would say yes this car is definitely worth to get. Not only as something to drive and appreciate, but it should also hold its value pretty well. The headbolt issue you mentioned is the biggest issue that people talk about. Other than that it´s a pretty reliable car. That being said, I just had a faulty electronic steering lock replaced, which was pretty pricey (1200 EUR) so you will have a general risk of driving a 10 year old car where some parts might fail. Generally speaking these are pretty reliable though. The good news about fixing things yourself is that there are plenty of tutorials online, and you also could get a workshop manual for about 20 bucks. The only real downside to this car is the fuel consumption. So if you have to drive a lot of miles, then this might not be the best car for that.
@@TheExtraMile I will be able to fix this kind of issues myself later on. Even the electrical issues. And it maybe will be cheap if i would work for mercedes. I am prepared for the fuel consumption and tires :) Thank you for answering so fast! Liked ur video a lot.
Great video Alex! Have to admit I haven't always been the biggest Mercedes fan but that starting to change. My buddy recently got a AMG A45 with performance pack. He launched it a couple of times and Jezus christ that thing pulls! I really love the way yours sounds, probably wouldn't turn on the radio too much myself 😉 Cheers 👊🏼
Thank you!! I am very sure that the A45 from you buddy would leave me for dead from a standstill! I might catch and overtake slowly after a while but that A45 is fast! Sounds pretty great for a 4 banger too.
Shouldnt the brakes be red with the performance package? Did you or the previous owners change the color? Also I could be wrong but performance package should already include everything in drivers package so you can't have both at the same time?
I asked the dealer about the brake calipers and they said that the first owner ordered it with silver brake calipers. I am actually quite happy about that since I prefer the color. The drivers package just ups the speed limiter to 280 km/h instead of 250, it was sold seperately to the performance package.
@@TheExtraMile Thanks for your reply, I do like the silver brakes better myself. Currently I'm looking to buy a facelift W204 AMG but all the package options seem so confusing. Some cars without performance package but with the drivers package they have raised speed limit and LSD I think, or do you only get LSD with the Performance one?
@@CarlizWang As far as I know the LSD is only included in the performance pack. If you like to drive sporty then you definitely should get that pack. The drivers package is not important since you can just let pretty much any tuner erase the electronic limiter. But the LSD is really, really important to get the power to the ground and make it more controllable during oversteer.
@@TheExtraMile Alright, that clears up some of my confusions. Really like your video and seeing your expressions when driving the car even puts a smile on my face. Keep up the good work!👌
You have the possibilty to upload mp3s to an internal harddrive. There is also an aux channel that you can plug into through the glove box. No bluetooth audio though.
Thank you Luuk! And I agree about the price. These are not that expensive at the moment depending on the mileage and equipment. And you certainly get a lot of bang for you buck :)
Haha good to hear Steliano! The W205 is certainly a great car as well, but there is just something about the looks and the engine of the W204 that is hard to beat :)
Few things on the bad side: - m156 engine may have head bolt and camshaft issues. Unlike the previous supercharged engine which was rock solid, m156 is not. I am not saying all cars will be affected, but it is possible. As an E63 owner I am just hoping I will be lucky and my engine will be strong - LSD is optional. Who in the world decided to make LSD optional when the engine has so many horsepower? 90% of buyers want to go sideways in these cars -
Agreed! According to the seller (got it from a dealership) the headbolt issue has been taken care of. Also completely agree about the LSD. Should have been standard for all models.
Great video Alex, exactly what I was hoping for! Looks like a very fun car to drive and it looks really cool too. Any change you will take it to the Nordschleife? Have a great 2019!
Thank you Bart! And YES the Nordschleife is planned for this year, along with many other racetracks. You are not allowed to film on the Nordschleife so I will contact them and try to make some kind of deal, but I will find a way to drive there and film the experience.
This is excellent. Looking at picking up my first AMG in the next couple of months and I'm trying to do as much research as possible. Thank you very much for this video.
I just love your car, im planing to go to Germany to buy one, looking for one that has the factory faullt fixed, must say you are sooooo luckey to have one with full leather on the dash, can not find one in the years 08-09. I have to stay in those years because of cartax here in Denmark... i have to pay about 25000 euro in car tax for this car... And 1600 euro in road tax for driving it on danish roads...
I’m a Bmw guy through and through but I absolutely love the c63 Amg . And Mercedes is a tuff 2nd fav to me. Can anyone tell me the common issues or forums for the c63? I’m debating between buying this c63 Amg or a e92 m3. Love both but I’m curious what issues the Amg has. The m3 rod bearings biggest issue and common. How about the Amg?
Hey there! Love BMW too and was debating the exact same question. I think the E92 will handle and feel better out of the box, but that sweet 6.2 n/a V8 made the decision for me. I just couldn´t resist that and I am now working on the car to make it ride and feel a bit better. This is a great forum about all things W204 C63: mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w204-93/
The Extra Mile I completely understand that engine is classic for the euro muscle sound it’s 2nd to none. Only other engine sound I enjoy as much is a e60 m5 sound. Thank you I’ll be doing some research . 👍🏽
I guess you never heard about the head bolt issue that effects all 2008-2011 63 (meaning if your 63 engine M156 was made between 2008 - June 2010 it has the defective head bolts and will need to have them replaced sooner or later. Some cars have 20k miles when they break some have 60k miles on it before they go but rest assure they will go and when they do you will get the dreaded low coolant light. To add when you do the head bolts you will need to change out the lifters and head gasket and valve cover gasket - cha Ching!
Oh yeah I have heard about that but thank you anyway for mentioning it! You never know haha. The headbolts had already been replaced by the previous owner.
Hey there Jake! They are pretty reliable overall. The drivetrain is pretty bulletproof, you can get some "regular" car maintenance things. The central locks on the passenger door failed on mine, small stuff like that. What can be a money pit is modding the car, but that goes for all cars I guess.
Your car may have the P30 performance package but it does not have everything you mentioned. Your car would have the P30 package which includes different suspension, LSD, 2 piece rotors and does not have the internals from the sls nor the increase of power. That would be the P31 package which did not come with lsd as standard and can be told by red calipers , and dark graphite intake manifold unlike yours or standard c63 with the lighter color. i am not putting your car down in anyway it is a beautiful car either way. P30 - stiffer suspension/2 piece rotors/ lsd P31 (2010 +) Internals from sls/ power increase/ 2 piece rotors (can identify these cars by red calipers/ dark graphite intake manifold. )
You are absolutely correct Bradley! I was under the impression that my car had the engine parts as well, but as you said the P30 doesn´t have that. While that is a bit sad, it does leave more tuning potential on the table :)
@@TheExtraMile No question and with the LSD as standard in that package it is certainly a monster. Beautiful car man. I my self just got one last march a 2010 with the P31 same black on black as yours. I enjoyed your video, great work. Did you join the AMG private lounge group?
I want a 2012 C63. They are such good deals in the US, there is a one owner, 40,000 mile red coupe near me for gorilla very good price. All the maintenance scares me though and I’m not sure I can properly handle 500 HP to the rear wheels, the fastest car I’ve driven outside of my rig is my dads lexus ; ((
If you can afford it, and don´t drive too many miles per year then I would say go for it. The power might sound a bit intimidating, but it really is quite manageable.
Definitely go for it!! It´s overall very reliable, super fun to drive and in my opinion it has timeless looks. Only be warned that it drinks fuels with a passion, but other than that I would go for it.
Alex, the kinda Guy that drifts away from Fantasy! AHAHA, save your money, the Car is 99% good enough to put You in a Cell Dude. Beauty TEM, Sick Stuff, Oh YeahH!
Haha thank you Jono! And indeed you gotta watch the speedometer in this one, it´s very easy to suddenly find yourself at jail speeds. Or at least "license is gone for a long time" speeds :)
I always was told to stay away from Mercedes Benz due to maintenance cost. My question is, how reliable are these? I really like this model only and I want to buy one so bad..
They are pretty reliable. I have a facelifted C63 and they fixed the headbolt issue from 2012 onwards. Only issue I had was a minor oil leak that was a $1500 fix. If you read the forums, the engine is bulletproof.
I read the video title "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly"...…………………………. but your not ugly, Alex ;P Welcome to 2019 - and I can't wait to see which direction you decide take your Channel this year?
Thank you so much Michael! Can you believe that another year has flown past us already? The general plan for this year is to go full throttle with the channel in every sense of the word. I plan to do more real life car content, roughly two videos per week with the C63. And more refined gaming/vr content. I have big plans which will probably suffice for medium small results, but we will see :)
Great characterful cars if you can live with the fuel consumption and horrendous maintenance costs. Like the RS4 of that era, just look at the cost of replacing brake disks and pads and you'll get a shock and come back down to reality.
Haha funny that you mentioned brakes since that is what I need to do now. I hope to get slightly upgraded ones to reduce a bit of weight. We´ll see how much that will run me.
@@TheExtraMile Its the problem when manufacturers turn ordinary cars into performance ones. BMW single piston floating brakes get bad press but they have the merit of being affordable. Still I'd love one of these C63s in wagon form just to transport my dog very fast!
Hi there, I stumbled upon your video today and wow, what an amazing car. Today marks 2 months since I got my w204 (2013) c180 coupe. It’s been really great... until last Saturday. I was traveling on the highway and the gearbox decided to dump its oil onto the hot exhaust making me think it had caught fire, which it fortunately had not. The car had to be towed and I’m curious to see what Mercedes Benz says is wrong with it. Regards, Dylan.
Thank you Dylan!! And man, sorry to hear about the gearbox issue on your coupe!! I really hope that it´s "just" a seal that needs replacement and not something more expensive. I too stumbled into some bad luck a few weeks ago when my electronic steering lock failed and had to be replaced. That was quite costly (1200 EUR). Fingers crossed that you get away cheaper :)
The Extra Mile wow, thank you, it’s so rare for content creators to actually reply, it’s greatly appreciated. About 6 years ago, the steering lock failed on my fathers GL 500 but luckily it was covered under warranty. I’ll let you know when Mercedes gives me some feedback. Regards, Dylan.
The Extra Mile Hello Again, I have news! Mercedes Benz called me today to tell me that upon looking at the gearbox, they noticed that the leak had been caused by a failing seal that was not reinstalled correctly when the previous owner took the car for a service (I’ve only had the car two months). Because it was serviced at a Mercedes Benz dealership, they are covering the cost. While I’m relieved that I won’t be paying for the repair, I’m quite angry they would be negligent enough for this to happen. Being that I live in South Africa, being stranded on the side of the road can be dangerous (in terms of crime) not to mention that I was about 5 km away from driving through a “ghetto” before the breakdown. Nevertheless, I’m fine and the car will be fine. Hopefully that’s the last time she has to be towed!
I forgot to ask in my previous comment. How do you afford to own this car? What do you do for living? The service alone are expensive. I just heard about the brake replacement. Oof. But I'm almost done with my technician studies so can replace everything myself. But still I'm curious. Can I afford this car? Can I afford having the issues? I don't wanna drive a Toyota xD
Hey there Jaro! I am currently working in sales and make a decent living I guess, but nothing huge. These cars are relatively cheap to buy at the moment and if you don´t drive that much per year it´s affordable.
@@TheExtraMile Those cars are pretty expencive in EU haha. I dont know how i can afford it. I really want to. I can do all the work myself, just need a garage. If the replacement of something in/On the car needs to be done then i cant cheap out lol. + the fuel here is awefuly pricy. 100+ € for full tank^^ Maybe i should stick to the plan and build up an 190E with evo2 body and interiour.
Amazing engine, and very balanced looks. A very well made car. The downside is its interior, especially the ones built before 2011. I find my A3 interior looks much better.
Thank you Duncan! And I agree about the interieur, at least in part. Audi made much, much nicer intereurs back then, and the stock Mercedes one (without the AMG leather package) has a bit too much plastic. Then again, most of that is forgotten when you hit the engine start button :)
@@trcs3079 i couldn’t afford the maintenance on that model. I had a C350 and C250 and they were quiet brilliant. But still BMW is probably the funnest car out there. At least in the achievable segment. Cheers !
@@TheExtraMile How is the throttle response off the line though? My 2007 Tiptronic Audi takes at least one full second before it gives it any power when you floor it. Very annoying when having to turn out into a busy street or roundabout.
I definitely prefer the look of this model to the current generation C63, it's so much more stylish.
I am in the same boat Oscar. I think the new one looks more elegant, but the overal design language is a bit too round for my taste. This one looks a bit more dynamic.
Totally agree the new one looks like an egg
The newer benz models are the best hands down imo. But the problem I have with it is they look to similar to each other. From a distance you think it's a S-Class until you get closer.
@@rclru that what I meant and they look like an egg no as aggressive as the one in this video.... The C63 amg looks badass last gen

Your smile after the exhaust cracks are us all
Haha thank you! The smile will be even bigger when the new exhaust is on the car :)
Thank you so much Byron!! And congrats on your sweet ride!! :)
Did you do any mods or did you keep it stock?

You have the pre facelift, The facelift 2012-2014 is the best. The front of the car & inside console look way better
Yes, the facelifted models look a little better but i do like the pre facelift models a lot too. Maybe im a bit bias since i own one myself, not the amg but the regular model 😄
Love my facelift 🙌🏼
the bluetooth music also exists on the face lift model too. Well mine does
Yes I love my facelift too. I think this is the best shape and I wouldnt wanna change it ever if possible. dont like newer shapes one bit. facelift is from 2011 for the record.
Mercedes interiors always look good any way 🤷🏽♂️
I don’t think you have a C63 with the P31 AMG development package which has the SLS pistons, rods and crankshaft because it doesn’t have the dark intake manifold or the red brake calipers. You may have an earlier C63 with the P30 performance package which did not have any difference in the engine from a regular C63.
I have a 2014 507 edition of the c63 and I love it. its hard to say anything bad about it
Indeed it is! The transmission might be the biggest "flaw" when you compare it to a more modern cars, but those modern cars don´t have that sweet M156 :)

Same here :) Should be even better when the new exhaust is installed!
I would never look at that guy and assume he could whip a car like that. Subbed.
The best thing about this car is the palpable evidence that you love it so much, well done, great purchase!
Thank you so much Jamie! And you are right, I really do love that thing :)
Oh man I loooooove the colour! What a beautiful car!
You will love the new tires, the difference in grip should be quite massive!
That would ruin the fun can always go much wider if u want. I went wider and switched back to a narrower size.
Will always love the w204 shape, it’s simply just is an amg, the look, engine and just merc
Truly a work of art.
Art in motion :)
You pretty much got me sold on this car. It sounds, looks, and plays the part of an amazing everyday performer with good luxury quality.
Yeah your description is pretty much right on the money. The only real downside is that it´s pretty thirsty, but you will get lots of smiles in return :)
@@TheExtraMile Haha that's the price for premium performance. I'd gladly pay it for such an amazing car though.
The car definitely wants you to floor and rev it to enjoy the sound of that sweet engine :)
Just got front and rear strut bars delivered and will install them on Monday!
I'm with you on the looks, I absolutely love it!
In some model years they just got it right :)
I'm jealous of your car... Can't wait when I will buy one of that beasts! :D
That’s the spirit Nenad! You will love it when you get it :)
Hope that you will find a good one soon! :)

Good review.
For the w204 facelift model (2012/13 onwards), there is bluetooth connectivity for music etc from your phone, also has DAB digital radio. The deadbolt issue mentioned in other comments isn't a problem in 2012+ cars. Wonderful car in general.
Thank you for watching! And also thank you for clarifying the DAB availability in later models. That is a small detail that I really miss in my car.
I thought the Performance package "P31" also came with red calipers and alacantra inserts in the steering wheel. Also the carbon fiber deck spoiler.
This is the P30 pack which was a bit different. Sadly didn´t come with the engine parts.
Absolutely great video. I like the way how enthusiastic you explained the car ;-)
Thank you!! Much more C63 content to come :)
To reduce the lag for the gear box get a pedal commander it helps a lot it makes the peddle so much more responsive

grooviminatora yes you are right. The sound and look of the C63 is awesome as we. Naturally aspirated V8 is bulletproof.
I just bought an E63 W211 with the same engine that has 180 kilometers . I have never loved a car more in my life. But the camshaft problems scare me even though I take very good care of it with maintenance. It uses a lot of oil and gas but I don’t mind as long as it’s running well. I did buy the car like that, so I guess the original owner ordered it that way.
I would have left it chrome if it were my choice :)

Haha, indeed! :)
Why are you even watching RUclips videos about Mercedes then??? Go watch BMW videos instead.
I have the Edition 507 sedan and absolutely love it! Great video!
5:17 that giggle im so jealous.
U not alone
I personally really like the look of the pre-facelift, so muscular and aggressive. 😍
Couldn´t agree more! I think the W205 is more elegant, but as a sportscar the W204 works better.

So the gearbox is comfortable in comfort mode and sporty on sport/manual mode... What is bad about that?
Definitely nothing bad per se, but the speed of the gearbox is quite a bit slower than what you would find in a 2019 car.
Still, it does a great job for a classic automatic!
Can I ask which Michelin you have for this car? Original tires size? Thanks.

Have to admit I haven't always been the biggest Mercedes fan but that starting to change. My buddy recently got a AMG A45 with performance pack. He launched it a couple of times and Jezus christ that thing pulls!
I really love the way yours sounds, probably wouldn't turn on the radio too much myself 😉
Cheers 👊🏼

Thank you Luuk! And I agree about the price. These are not that expensive at the moment depending on the mileage and equipment. And you certainly get a lot of bang for you buck :)
I have both a w204 507 wagon and c63S coupe but I like the w204 the most 👍😊
Haha good to hear Steliano! The W205 is certainly a great car as well, but there is just something about the looks and the engine of the W204 that is hard to beat :)
5:13 Floor it! Pure joy.
More coming up in the next couple of days! Some sweet, sweet mods have been installed :)
Few things on the bad side:
- m156 engine may have head bolt and camshaft issues. Unlike the previous supercharged engine which was rock solid, m156 is not. I am not saying all cars will be affected, but it is possible. As an E63 owner I am just hoping I will be lucky and my engine will be strong
- LSD is optional. Who in the world decided to make LSD optional when the engine has so many horsepower? 90% of buyers want to go sideways in these cars
-
Thank you Joseph! I hope that you find a good car soon! You won´t regret the purchase, I can already promise you that :)
For the negative Parts: get the Mopf!! Quicker Shifting, Bluetooth Streaming...
nice ride Alex , i cant hear my radio ether . and its a shaker 1000w . you wouldn't know that though . The exhaust is unreal loud
Loud exhausts are generally a nice thing! At least for car guys, not so much for the normal people :)
@@TheExtraMile ruclips.net/video/FCs5JY9HctA/видео.html
The current C63 looks like a melted jelly bean. However, the interior is to die for.
Hehe I kind of agree. I think the new one is more elegant, but doesn´t work as well as a sportscar.
The interieur is indeed excellent though!
Wonderful video, i’m planning to buy one
I just love your car, im planing to go to Germany to buy one, looking for one that has the factory faullt fixed, must say you are sooooo luckey to have one with full leather on the dash, can not find one in the years 08-09. I have to stay in those years because of cartax here in Denmark... i have to pay about 25000 euro in car tax for this car... And 1600 euro in road tax for driving it on danish roads...
Thank you . What was the last year of this engine ??
According to the internet the last ones were built in June 2015, so not that long ago.
Im looking into getting a 2010 C 63 AMG... are they somewhat reliable? Or will this car be an endless money pit?
Hey there Jake! They are pretty reliable overall. The drivetrain is pretty bulletproof, you can get some "regular" car maintenance things. The central locks on the passenger door failed on mine, small stuff like that.
What can be a money pit is modding the car, but that goes for all cars I guess.
Why is it most C63 pre facelift I see in Europe have no sidemarker lamps?
Good question! From what I have heard the sidemarkers were mostly a US thing, but I am not 100% on that.
Did you have any issues with the head bolts on the car?
I have just purchased a 08 model with 67,000klms....I'm in love!!
Oh man Vincenzo congratulations on that sweet ride!!! :)
Reliable?
You have silver engine, which suggests standard internals, sls internals are inside titanium coloured engine
You are absolutely correct! I was mistaken about that when I recorded the video. Upgraded internals are now part of the modification plan :)
What to look out for if.. If close to buying a used one.. Specific things to check?

Dude, great, great review. Love it mate.
Congrats on the sweet new ride Bradley!! Had not heard about the AMG private lounge yet, I will google that!
What happen to the passenger air bag? Mine doesn’t look like that....has it been replaced?
@@mikelin7 Has not been replaced, it always looked like this. What are you referring to?
I have on end love it!
@@TheExtraMile Thank you! I will try to get a test drive to see how it is. The car is just gorgeous and sounds great too.
Timeless design, thinking of getting the c200 cgi (while drooling on this) should I go for it?
Alex, u missed mentioning how lovely the front seats are! Prolly one of the best seats I have sat in.
You are absolutely right! Seats are so important to me and these are among the best stock seats that I have ever had the pleasure of sitting in!
How good is this car? There is one for sale with low original mileage basically garage queen. Should I go for it or no
Definitely go for it!!
It´s overall very reliable, super fun to drive and in my opinion it has timeless looks.
Only be warned that it drinks fuels with a passion, but other than that I would go for it.
Damn I have a W204 with a Carlsson kit on it. Beast. I wanna swap her tho or see if the newer c63 biTurbo’s can fit 🤔🐐
I love this car!!! I don't mind the age because they got it right the first time!!! Hope to get one soon!!!
Thank you Paul!! I hope you get one soon!!
I can promise you that you will love it :)
This is the best sound muscle car ever made.
LOL
Couldn´t agree more :)
@@itzBok 1500$ for 7 years :o?
I read the video title "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly"...…………………………. but your not ugly, Alex ;P
Welcome to 2019 - and I can't wait to see which direction you decide take your Channel this year?
Thank you so much Michael! Can you believe that another year has flown past us already?
The general plan for this year is to go full throttle with the channel in every sense of the word. I plan to do more real life car content, roughly two videos per week with the C63. And more refined gaming/vr content.
I have big plans which will probably suffice for medium small results, but we will see :)
@@TheExtraMile Well good luck with it ALL, and I hope it ALL goes to plan Alex. ;)))
Regards,
Dylan.
Regards,
Dylan.
@@averageafrican Commenting so I get notified when you write about what they will say. P.S. Sorry but sounds expensive.
Paulius Andriuskevicius Well there you have it, not as exciting you were hoping I think
These C63's are going up in value slightly. the PPP and 507's have already risen, even the prefacelift is going up. 2020 I think these will increase.
Does this model have Auto Hold
Mine is a 2010 model
Hey there Alan! Sadly no auto hold in this car.
The new Doug DeMuro ! haha ! great !
Exactly what i thought, except its Alex, don't encourage him, we need our TEM to Focus on our needs!
Haha thank you Marvin! :)
most problems were fixed in facelift like the dab and gearbox etc
Amazing engine, and very balanced looks. A very well made car.
The downside is its interior, especially the ones built before 2011.
I find my A3 interior looks much better.
Thank you Duncan! And I agree about the interieur, at least in part. Audi made much, much nicer intereurs back then, and the stock Mercedes one (without the AMG leather package) has a bit too much plastic.
Then again, most of that is forgotten when you hit the engine start button :)
Why buy an A3 when you could of gotten a second hand AMG with that price
@@trcs3079 i couldn’t afford the maintenance on that model.
I had a C350 and C250 and they were quiet brilliant.
But still BMW is probably the funnest car out there. At least in the achievable segment.
Cheers !
Great video really enjoyed it, keep it up!!
Actually pretty decent response for comfort mode.
True! And the shifting is pretty smooth which is not necessarily the case for autos.
@@TheExtraMile How is the throttle response off the line though? My 2007 Tiptronic Audi takes at least one full second before it gives it any power when you floor it. Very annoying when having to turn out into a busy street or roundabout.
Throttle response is instant without any delay whatsoever. The real big advantadge of a huge n/a engine :)
