@@velocitycrew no thank you for the videos. I personally think the 2nd gen is the best looking. Not just cause I own one, but they look the nastiest in my opinion. My dad worked for a Mercedes dealer for 35 years, he left in 1993 so I've been around them my entire life. When I got my permit back in 1991 the owner of the dealership said to me, pick any car here and I'll let you drive it, so I said to him, let's take your gull wing out, lol he said any other car, for obvious reasons, so I said how about the 600 SL convertible? He said let's go. He treated my dad like family. I miss that man. He looked at me like I was his own grandkid.
That’s legit. I remember going to the MB dealer with my dad in high school and seeing a brand new SLR on the showroom floor and I think they let me sit in a CLK63 Black Series. I was hooked ever since. Thanks for sharing!
I disagree with buying one with the P31 package. Its only worth it if you track it. Otherwise the extra cost of replacing the brakes is a waste of money. The non p31 brakes are excellent, there is no real need for the higher end brakes unless you track. The extra performance and forged pistons in the p31 is nice, but again not necessary unless you want to modify it. Even then, you can squeeze 575 hp out of the non p31 package without any concern

Nice guide, I learned a lot. Fun fact: the US version of the C63 BS only came with the panoramic roof whereas the Euro specs came with either a CF roof or an aluminum roof (I don’t remember which).

Nicely done. Mine looks identical to the one at 8:57. 2013 Coupe. Bought it in Jan '17 with 13k miles. Solid. Zero regrets to this day! Only 26k miles on the odometer currently. Not sure if you mentioned it, but the Black Series was only available in 2012, I believe.
Thanks for the comment! It truly is an epic car, I loved my coupe. They just don’t make em’ like they used to. That said, I didn’t mention the production years, but they actually made the Black Series in 2013 as well as a part of that run of 800.
@@velocitycrew Interesting! I assumed the BS was for 2012 only because the interior photos typically showed the older "gold" graphics in the UI instead of silver/gray. That was one reason why I went with a '13 instead of '12 on my "regular" C63. I like the silver graphics in the screen's UI. Here's mine: photos.app.goo.gl/4ZV6syWsstutGTPr5
No worries at one point I was under the same thought until I actually saw a 2013 for sale. Most people didn’t realize the subtle UI enhancement from 12-13, I see you know your details! The actual navi interface was enhanced too and would show full cover art on music that was plugged in via USB. Not sure if the 12 C63 did that. I had a 2012 CLS63 and never could get the album art on music to show up.
Congratulations! That’s a fantastic spec and rare. Good job on finding a low mileage P31 as well. I’m always looking at the market and they’re hard to find. If you want a quick and easy mod, a resonator delete will give you about 20% more noise and no drawbacks/drone. Best thing I did. If you’re planning on getting headers though keep your resonator on.
Great video polite speaking voice too. I am torn I want 4 doors…not intimidated by the head bolt issue but I wonder if most people go for that better trans? In the newer versions is it more reliable on top of better? Super cool cars.
Thanks, this is a great video. I think the 507 is the best overall. The black series is only 3 HP more and while a better track car, not as usable on the road.
Thank you! Black Series is still pretty usable on the road since it’s still mostly a c63, but def a lot stiffer suspension and some have the rear seat delete option, so not as practical.
I SEE THE SUNTRUST BUILDING IN THE BACKGROUND!!! i have literally taken pictures with my w204 C63 in that exact tunnel by the tampa bay lightning stadium!!
@@velocitycrew actually, there's there's different tunnel in downtown that I think is better! Check out my most recent post on my instagram page @amg_nyx I know you'll like it
Facelift launch control isn't due to tune, it's due to not using torque converter, MCT Transmission. Facelift front end is widely criticised for losing it's good & aggressive looks. Facelift doesn't cool down as quick and leads to higher than acceptable oil & transmission temp. Purple suspect smaller bumper opening, top of radiator not blocked off, hot air entering air intake. Mercedes have a black series cooling package for sale, aftermarket have plates to block top of radiator like pre-facelift.
Epic video, really enjoyed it! More wagon content though! And what about the “Edition 63” that was released in Australia in 2010! (I’ve got a wagon version which is one of 63 made).
I have a pre-facelift ‘11 that was built after the head bolts were fixed at the factory. I wonder how many potential buyers realize that some/most/all ‘11s had the head bolt issue solved?
Great video super informative. I'm thinking of getting a 2009 with 80k miles. Is this a bad idea? It has good service history but I don't see the big deal engine head bolt thing done on the carfax. Also I think it is a developer package because it has the suede insert steering wheel i've never seen on another c63.
Thanks for the comment. Perhaps one day I will do a video on the coolest wagons the USA never received! I’d definitely put the on the C63 touring on that list.
@@velocitycrew so i'm looking one with 89k mile, never owned mercedes before. 392 keep having issue with cooling system even only have 55k mile so i'm really done with this charger
Wow I’ve got a few friends with Charger RTs and Hellcats, haven’t seen too many issues. Every car is different though. The c63 drivetrain is almost bulletproof, but there are a few things that need to get done (per my video) like head bolts to ensure you don’t experience engine failure. Electronics can sometimes be finnicky but the c63 is pretty basic compared to the E and S. Good luck on your hunt! Make sure to get a pre purchase inspection.
Just my opinion (aka not backed by facts) I feel like whatever price they’ve come down to now, they’ll always carry a slight premium over a standard car if the mileage is low. Now, will it be a collector item? Probably not for quite some time but it’s definitely (as with any w204 c63 right now) pretty much hit its depreciation ceiling for the time being. They could start to go up in the distant future but I don’t see them tanking much unless you throw a ton of miles on it.
Thank you! It truly was a great car. Also, you’re correct the ESL problem persisted in all the C Class models during that time but it’s good to list, for those reading the comments!
Great question. I was under the impression that the 507 and Black Series got the lightweight SLS crankshaft on top of the other forged internals you got from the P31 package (plus a different tune for more HP). However, after some more research, I’m seeing some sources saying P31 also has the same lightweight crankshaft. Hope that helps!
velocitycrew Yes, I think it was the time. There’s forum debates on whether the P31 is the same as a 507, horsepower-wise. I have no idea but my mechanic thinks so. I’d love to see a drag race video pitting stock P31 vs 507...and, what the heck, let’s include some of the regional specialty cars like the “Afalterbach” edition MB AMG released in Canada
velocitycrew Would love to know - and see video of the drag race. Someone needs to answer whether the ‘507’ is a cosmetic option compared to a P31 with LSD - or if it’s a higher-tuned trim.
Resonator delete on the exhaust will give 20% sound increase with 0 drawbacks (not to be confused with catalytic converter). I think it makes the car sound like how it should have from the factory. As for maintenance - the dealer is where I always went. Even if the price was slightly higher. If you have a trusted mechanic, you can use them too. Engine oil change every 10k miles, trans/diff fluid change on other intervals (forgot how many miles). Enjoy the car!
@@velocitycrew I got her bro 😮💨👏🏽 the p31 and everything it’s such an amazing car I’m in love wouldn’t have been able to get the right one without ur video haha was a mopar guy
Important thing is that the drivetrain is nearly bulletproof and the car doesn’t have too many complex electronic systems to fail so that’s a plus. You can always have little things pop up, but that’s with all cars as they age.
@@velocitycrew Thank you for answering, The vehicle im interested in is currently priced at 38k euros, and it has a low mileage of 60 000km, the interior seems to be in a mint condition, would you say its worth it and would it depreciate by alot or do u think it will still stay at around 30k value in a couple of years? thanks and i like your content!
That seems quite pricey even for low miles, although depending which country you’re in, it could be a normal price. I’m based in the US and for that same amount (roughly $45k USD), you can get a low mileage P31 package or even an Edition 507 car. What I can say though with some level of confidence, is that these cars have more or less hit their depreciation plateau and will diminish just slightly each year until they hit another plateau. My guess is you likely won’t too lose much unless you put an exorbitant amount of miles/kilometers on the car.
@@velocitycrew Im placed in sweden so the cost of these amg lines is a bit more expensive compared than in the us. but thank u for answering! here is the link for it so u can check it out! :) www.blocket.se/annons/goteborg/mercedes_benz_c_63_amg_performance_pack_sv_sa/92568941
I personally didn’t experience any issues with either of my w204’s and I have friends who have over 100,000 miles on their c63’s and they’re still running strong with regular maintenance (one even has nitrous). Camshaft/headbolt really is the big ticket item. 2012+ coupes can have issues with the pano roof making squeaking noises but it can be fixed with grease at the dealership. Otherwise, of course as with anything you may experience random electrical issues but that is a slight risk with any older German car.
Looks like the price of one cam off FCP Euro is about $700 for OEM parts. It would depend on what all needs to be changed. $8k sounds high, but likely for head bolt upgrades and camshaft fix. I have friends who did it around $6-7k for both at a dealer.
velocitycrew so, I’m just ULTRA worried, because I do NOT want a car that has such notorious issues, I’ll probably just upgrade them to aftermarket ones and a dry sump oil system that lubricates the camshafts more like the M159
Fair point. You can always try to look for a 2010.5 or 2011 car too. They’re out there and don’t suffer from this issue. Or, negotiate your 08-10 purchase based on possible investment into proactively fixing the issue. I’m not too sure about the dry sump system that’s the first I’m hearing of it. Definitely want to hear which route you go!
Just saw another article today about the 4 cyl hybrid W206 C63...I'm still going to live in denial until MB announces it themselves.
4 cylinders - no thanks. I’d be happy with 5 though.

I'm getting one for Christmas 2020. It has to be between 2012-2014 with a p31 package and below 60k miles
Totally doable. Best of luck in the hunt and thanks for watching!
@@velocitycrew I'm live in California so its actually a good market for them, iv already found at least 10 of them 🔥
youre white coupe was beautiful. you also forgot to mention the esl issues the 08-09s had although that could be said for all c classes not just c63
Thank you! It truly was a great car. Also, you’re correct the ESL problem persisted in all the C Class models during that time but it’s good to list, for those reading the comments!
@@velocitycrew I was very close to getting a c63 but needed the awd so got a c350 coupe instead lol
C43 prices are gonna get pretty good soon if you consider upgrading in the next couple years and still need AWD.
did the base gen 1.5 have any performance/ mechanical upgrades over the base gen 1.0?
Not that I know of exactly. AMG Development Package was really the main thing.
I like pop-up screen design more...
What engine internals did the 507 have that the P31 not have? Great video BTW!
Funny enough a close friend just bought a 507 coupe but still has his 2012 P31 coupe. Curious if he’s done this...
velocitycrew Would love to know - and see video of the drag race. Someone needs to answer whether the ‘507’ is a cosmetic option compared to a P31 with LSD - or if it’s a higher-tuned trim.
I just bought a 2010 c63 AMG with 58,000 miles. Do you have any recommendations for modifications or maintenance?
Resonator delete on the exhaust will give 20% sound increase with 0 drawbacks (not to be confused with catalytic converter). I think it makes the car sound like how it should have from the factory. As for maintenance - the dealer is where I always went. Even if the price was slightly higher. If you have a trusted mechanic, you can use them too. Engine oil change every 10k miles, trans/diff fluid change on other intervals (forgot how many miles). Enjoy the car!
@@velocitycrew Thank you so much for getting back to me. I’ll look into the resonator delete.
I will definitley buy w204 but with diesel 220 or 250 cdi do you have any experience with this motors?
Unfortunately not much experience with the CDI motors, I just know they are generally considered pretty reliable. I just don’t know the nuances.
Just applied to get a p31 package 2014 😭👏🏽 y’all wish me luck I found one
Best of luck! Funny enough I’ve been browsing the market for another one. Prices have gone up for sure.
@@velocitycrew found one for like 37k only 50k miles not too bad to own a piece of history
@@velocitycrew I got her bro 😮💨👏🏽 the p31 and everything it’s such an amazing car I’m in love wouldn’t have been able to get the right one without ur video haha was a mopar guy
Wow congratulations! Thanks for the kind words and enjoy the car in good health. Glad the video helped!
@@velocitycrew thank you brother 👏🏽
Is that how the car sounds stock?
The two cars in the video had a resonator delete. Otherwise the cars were stock. It’s a great sound!
How reliable is a c63 amg w204 2013 model? (Im trying to convince my family to buy one) :)
That looks awesome, and it’s actually a p31 car which is a great plus. Hopefully you end up getting it for the price you want!
If only the long roof was available stateside.
If only...
im going to buy one within the next 2 years. check back for this comment
0:53 aged well lmao
RUNESCAPE!@!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, forgot to mention it is a 2011 model.
I really really want the car
Not the super smash bros music 💯💯😭😭
How reliable is the c63? I know about the premature camshaft wear and head bolts issues.
Otherwise, of course as with anything you may experience random electrical issues but that is a slight risk with any older German car.
velocitycrew how much do the camshafts cost? I think aftermarket ones cost 8k for all 4
Looks like the price of one cam off FCP Euro is about $700 for OEM parts.
Sounds like you sold it, why?
To buy another C63 😂
lmao what's with everyone using runescape background music now haha
It’s awesome!
