Someone later in the stream told me there was a bug when changing objects settings. and the fix was to deselect and reselect the object for it to apply. I think that's what happened to me.

Well…forge IS a beta, officially…Still, I am glad to see that object attachment is in forge. I am used to scripting on Halo Reach, where you can dictate object attachment, so naturally I assumed attachment wasn’t in Infinite when I didn’t see it in the node graph.
so with this being said, the order of things is just "parenting" right? your first object is the parent, which the child is welded to correct? -edit ahhh, okay, I get whats going on then, old forge was bugged, lol.
Can someone please help me :( I have a drop pod that works in forge but when I load it up in a custom game the entire welded prefab falls apart. Why does it do this? I tried doing everything in the video and it works in forge but not when I load it up in custom games.
I made a cool prefab that I wanted to weld a vehicle to in order to drive it, but it doesn’t work :/ Weld option won’t allow and dynamic mode for the blocks isn’t there
It works in forge but when i do customs the welded vehicles just fall apart... Somebody help plz its friday game night with the crew and i really want this to work. You can come play with us if you help me lol itll be worth it my infection map and safari razorback is sick and this is the last thing
I honestly hope they do away with the whole Static/Dynamic thing eventually. I wanna be able to resize all the stuff I could be scripting and wielding without such trivial but unstoppable hassles.
It has to be Dynamic Normal. The time where you go back in your vod the cube was set to Dynamic Phased which is why it couldn't be the Parent. You initially couldn't make your cube the Parent because your cube is Dynamic Phased, but when you welded it to the Razorback the welding union set both objects to Dynamic Normal, which is why once you undid the weld your cube was now able to be the weld parent.
That sounds possible. But I don't believe I ever changed the physics mode. I recall correctly the only thing I did to fix it was to deselect and reselect
@@derrikcreates Like I said the child (cube) was changed to "Normal" automatically once you formed the weld. So when you unwelded, it was in Normal and thus eligible to be a weld Parent (which it wasn't before because it was in Phased).
@@Drayken I just tested it and what i said in the video was correct. It being normal makes it act less buggy. but if you select the vehicle first then the phased object it auto converts it into normal, but the inverse doesnt
@@derrikcreates Vehicles are Dynamic Normal by default. Only Dynamic Normal objects can initiate welds as Parents and any non-normal children are converted to normal since they obey the settings of the Parent. In your VOD you couldn't Parent the cube because it was Dynamic Phased, then in the video you could do it because it was Dynamic Normal due to having welded it to the Warthog with the Warthog as parent, therefore changing the cube to Dynamic Normal to respect the parent group settings, which is retained after unwelding. TLDR: Parent requires being set to Dynamic Normal manually if its base state isn't Normal already (vehicles are) before welding, child doesn't because it is changed to Dynamic Normal automatically upon welding since it respects the parent, and if unwelded the child will retain the automatically changed Normal setting. I'm not sure why I need to write three comments, there's no bug here. Children cannot influence the Parent, only the opposite is possible.
@@Drayken I'm not sure why I need to write three comments, there's no bug here. Children cannot influence the Parent, only the opposite is possible. if you opened with that I would have understood you faster. Your right the parent needs to be dynamic normal. The reason I thought it was a bug is because the game gives you NO feed back on welding. In to tool UI it should tell you that it cant weld because its not dynamic normal. Like the warning it gives you when trying to reference static objects in the nodegraph. It not a bug just EXTREMELY bad UX. Thanks for clearing this up
since you can carry the flag in the back of a razorback vehicle is there a script that will allow you to carry a flag on "ANY" vehicle? since you can carry the flag in the back of a razorback vehicle is there a script that will allow you to carry a flag on "ANY" vehicle?
It aint a bug, its pretty much how most applications do a "combine" or "weld" command, the base object must always be selected first so anything else selected after it knows it has to be welded to the first object :)
Yeah Forge is still a bit of a mess even for a ‘beta’ state. Which is just marketing schmuck for ‘we haven’t finished it yet but we’re releasing it anyways’
Seeing this happen in real time made me laugh so hard
watch a man go insane live as he tries to make a simple tutorial
This is probably the most professional video I’ve ever seen lol
This man does not understand the power he just gave me.
This tutorial is it going to be the cause of my friends nightmares in Forge. thank you
Counter point, after you make it dynamic, unselect it then reselect it. That might refresh options available to it. Haven’t tested, just a thought

@@derrikcreates I think deselecting the object is when it actually applies. Probably not a bug, just not well communicated

It should be possible on xbox. Make sure the object is dynamic. Welding is extremely buggy right now
