Maybe they think they can help Russia or Putin from the inside. Brainwashed Americans helping foreign leaders or nations and are not a citizen of those nations is something that does happen, doesn't have to be a government though as I remember hearing of a American that joined a certain terrorists. Militant religious groups. Seems anyone with a chip on their shoulder always seems to fight in violent ways with language, culture, religion, technology, and even nature.
When I get a chip on my shoulder I seem to stop and catch myself by asking, do I want to hurt anyone in any way. Answer is no. So I look for positive ways to go about life. Patience is key. Understanding is the door. Enlightenment is the room. Wisdom is the house. Who lives there?

I am glad the shooter will be prosecuted. Just because he is 85 doesn't excuse the shooting. If he is that confused, he shouldn't be allowed to live where he can shoot people and he shouldn't be allowed to have a gun. Shooting through frosted glass sounds like an execution.

My mom in law, her family took her firearm from her in her eighties because she was having trouble telling reality from fantasy . Just to make sure this kind of thing did not happen. We need better red flag laws.

The teenager shot twice in Missouri, because his black skin “scared” the elderly man is not the whole story. It’s even worse when you find out he had to go to three houses before anyone would help him. I’m wondering if the people in those homes consider themselves to be Christian.

The fact that this teenager happens to be an exceptional person should not serve as an argument against crazy gun permissiveness.
I don’t want to have to prove that I am a better than average citizen to be permitted to live.
I want gun owners to bear all and more of the same obligations an automobile driver assumes.
You could say that I want them to be “well regulated”
This shooter probably was addled, but acted in a manner he would not have if constrained by regulations for operating a car.
If he were afraid of a stranger while driving a car, I would bet that even if suffering an age-related illness, his first instinct would not be to run over that stranger.
But guns are now encouraged by GOP to be perceived as part of an extra-legal way of reestablishing an order that never existed.
This is why local newspapers are so important! They have been on the decline for many years to the detriment of the people in this country.

My family still subscribes to ours, even though it has become so much thinner over the years :) I still remember back when I was in school when we all took daily turns to bring in clips from the newspaper or watch the local news to do the "Current Events" to start the day.
The local newspaper in a town of 50,000 midwesterners has made their newspaper so expensive that their loyal customers of 50 years, retired seniors, can’t afford it.
I called them on behalf of an octogenarian and asked for a Loyalty Discount- they don’t have one.
I asked for a Senior Discount- they don’t have one.
I asked talk to a supervisor- they don’t have one.
At that point, I was insulted and said, I’m telling the whole town, on Facebook, and telling them you have no interest in keeping your loyal customers, the ones that actually read newspapers these days and are now retired.
That local newspaper is short-sighted and they’re declining for a reason: they’ve priced their product out of reach for the majority of their readers.

This black young boy who was shot for being black has touched a nerve in me, particularly because just yesterday a black young man was checking the water meters in our neighborhood. I thought at the time, "he's in danger here" because there are few black people in our town and the sentiment here is generally very conservative. Sometimes the stray thoughts that pass through have meaning when we don't even know it at the time. I have bumper stickers on my car that are anti war and in favor of coexistance and diversity and love. I have been challenged to fight over them too... I am an 80 year old white woman. But if it comes to it I will fight for our black neighbors and fellow citizens! Heck, I may even win!

When I was a kid we would ring door bells, then run away. Imagine being shot for harmless fun like that, back then or even now.
Kids in my neighborhood did that. One elderly neighbor hated me for years because I stayed behind to apologize for my friends. At the time, my family and one other were the only non whites in the neighborhood. It took years of trying for that neighbor to believe me and understand I wasn’t a bad person.
Imagine someone rings your bell without knowing why and your first instinct is to shoot them, wow!!! i hope law makers will really look at the gun laws in the states and put in place some common sense laws that will stop all this mass shooting and senseless shooting period.
That's why I don't have a doorbell 😋 But seriously, any of our kids could be in that exact situation. Ralph could easily be one of my kids' friends, both of my older ones are in the middle school band, just like him. It almost makes me miss lockdown.

A waste of 85 years - that old creature never lived
As an American black my heart do not ache when I see these events. After the killing of Michael Brown, Jr. in Ferguson MO in 2014 I fasted and prayed the Esther prayer for 3 days and 3 nights in order that hate for the white race would not arise in my heart. It worked, when the 9 innocents were killed in church in Charleston, SC I did not even watch any of it and all that have happened since. Oh, I did stand in the place of my 89 year old mother for the length of the time the police knee was on the neck of George Floyd . I realized that my ancestors must have prayed during slavery that evil and hatred would not enter into their hearts and would not teach their children racial hatred. Just saying.

It is reported that the young teen rang the doorbell. Now, I might be wrong, but a burglar or anyone there for nefarious reasons don't ring doorbells. the so-called "stand your ground" law would be a flimsy defense in this case. I feel for the parents of this young musician, good student. I hope he has a complete recovery.
No not true, in my area they ring the bell or knock as you answer the door someone else comes in the back door. I never answer my front door without first making sure my back door is locked. Unfortunately these days there is way too much crime. I wonder how much trauma this old man has been thru that made him so leary that he shot at this boy? Not standing up for old man and am praying Ralph makes a full recovery. Just doesn't seem like a rational thing for a person who feels safe to do.

i’m trying to recall EVER hearing about a white kid getting shot like this. i can think of several black boys killed this way.
An Asian exchange student, in Louisiana, was shot and killed a few years ago after coming to the wrong house...dressed as Elvis for a costume party.
A white 20 year old woman was shot just a day or two ago in a car, turning around in the wrong driveway.
Not only delivery drivers and scouts will be at risk, but also census takers and political activists or "door knockers." And why are these folks so fearful? What entities are spreading fear of an unnamed hoarde?
