Starting a new business seems to be the biggest emotional rollercoaster ever! So many thoughts run up in your head...am I good enough, is it going to sell, is this the right place & time? You two have probably worked 10 times harder than we'll ever know. Be proud of yourselves that through all the processes, your dreams are coming true. Usually takes a year or better to know how things will work out, but your products are what people use or want. The most important part is you're working together to make it all happen. Watching you grow in this journey has been amazing. Congrats to you both!
My partner and I had a really horrible move this spring, it was so stressful and we did not handle it well😂 But having a comprehensive post-mortem and good communication like it seems like you guys have done means that the stress wasn't in vain and won't be repeated!❤ We know more about how each other and ourselves react to do it better next time.
I have never wanted more to live in Vancouver. Good luck with the soft launch, I really hope that everything went well and that you continue to thrive and grow both personally and professionally as a couple. Also, please take care of yourselves. Burnout is real, and your health is worth more than the speed of your ambitions.

Don't burn out. Don't snap at each other either. It will all work out but this store front seems to have brought on more pressure than might be have been expected. You're not in a good position to handle things when you're overworked and overtired. I think a time-out would be a good idea - pack a lunch and go spend the day with Jasper in Stanley Park. Take the whole day. It'll make a big difference!

I agree with you on the parents part . I’m first generation and my dad wakes up 5 in the morning and comes back home at 5 in the afternoon as a truck driver. It’s a lot and us a family try our best to help out with the house.but it’s not enough for us to go out as a family im hoping my new job at the hospital would be enough to support my family even more
It’s going to be worth it don’t worry about the financial side money comes and goes your passions are more important. If you can do it, do it you should know what’s your financial side is like so just yolo I stress a lot about it but it’s because I don’t like to see money leaving my bank account faster then what’s coming in even though you have the money to spend it freaks me out believe me but what is my money doing at the bank just sitting there

You will do good but it takes some time and patience to get the business up and growing. I live down in Austin Texas and thus no chance to visit for some coffee at this time. One day I will be back visiting Vancouver. Yes, running a business can be stressful at times because sometimes you will stress out wondering if the business will be able to keep on growing so you can pay your bills and pay your rent. Sending tons of luck and hugs.

I had to dig a lil to find the address but looks like you're just behind Kingsgate. Nice dude chilling farmers market followed by coffee there. Would be good to let locals know where you are and what's around today (I did live in mt pleasant for over 20 years but couldn't afford it anymore so am south Van). Helping open a restaurant was my last freelance project and everything you said is so reminiscent. It left me in financial peril because of the long hours, low pay and no financial reward for it's success but I still feel glowy about auctions for equipment, painting the walls, how beautiful the epoxied floor turned out and photographing it. Wish it hadn't left me in the vulnerable position it did but it's such a unique and exciting experience.

Those long hours are nothing less than inhuman. I believe the only possible justification (in 'managements') eyes is to keep adequate staff off of the payroll...no concern for those that they have.
I must have missed the loner explanation...here you say that the space you are sitting in now is a "temporary pop-up" (?)
and that the permanent space is a future endeavor (?).
