Born in 1988. I totally get him. Smartphones have ruined a lot. The 90s and very early 2000s were golden for me. Gonna start my retro journey soon because I cannot stand current times. I despise how disconnected we are and how addictive modern technology can be.
If I can create a tiny time capsule in which I can dwell for certain amount of time during the day to recharge it would help so much.

Wow. I live nearly a verbatim lifestyle but with a touch of modern finesse. I love the 90's myself as it was my childhood decade and everything about that era was loud in color and full of attitude. I love the look, the feel, as well as the unique qualities of the time from object to object. While unfortunately I no longer use a CRT television set as much as I would like to I have to say that watching a movie like Batman: Forever on Blu-Ray with green lights behind the T.V. and using authentic Batman: Forever wall decals from 1995 sure makes for an interesting ambience. I love revisiting old things from the past but giving them a new spin or maintaining them to keep them functional and relevant. Like the Mariner from the 1995 movie Waterworld I enjoy tinkering and fixing things. I do not change them if I do not have to but a Sega Genesis Nomad with a modern LCD screen is a must for me or perhaps a Virtual Boy with a new Virtual Ribbon mod are just some things that must be done to keep these machines alive. I am a bit more kids centric about my life personally, but I revel in the past and love all things from that period one way or another.
    Keep it real my man!

I nearly cried giving my MASSIVE Sony/Triniton flat screen box TV to the recycler, when it was in perfect working condition and I knew they were going to tear it apart. The only reason I had to get rid of it was because I desperately needed space in my tiny apartment, so that I wouldn’t get evicted.
No one understood my sadness and not wanting to let it go… everyone made fun of me for caring about it. That gorgeous TV was so beautifully built that it would’ve lasted for probably 300 years… It tears me up that I had to get rid of it, and that it isn’t being used by anybody else. 😢😢😢

I live a lot of my life with retro tech, with a bit of modern tech thrown in, i genuinely believe that the modern world does give way too much oversaturation when it comes to entertainment and comfort, which leads to discomfort. I love a lot of modern things, but i love a mix, for example, one of my cars is from 1978 while the other is from 2016. I play my ps5 and other times my gameboy color. I read physical books but also utilise my kindle more. I use social media (even though i wish i didnt/i wish i wasnt addicted) however i also use an old phone/dumb phone. Finding the balance is important, growing up (93 baby here) i lost a lot of friends through highschool when social media came out and the first iphone was released bringing in an age of a everything in one device. Instant computer and world connection in your pocket. I still remember a time before the internet, a time before gps, a time where we rode our bikes around town to our mates places to hang out. Life was a lot more simple and better for the mental health but it also wasnt perfect and modern tech has brought sooo many quality of life advancements. However we are also all different and what is healthy for me, might not be healthy for you. As adults we have yhe ability to pick and choose what we use and utilise in our lives both retro and modern. I mean, i daily wear a roman archers ring thats 2000 years old.... if youre nit picking the good memories from the past and usingg them in your modern life than i say all the best for you! One of my friends lives in a wooden cabin with no power at all, in a freezing part of the world in winter, no social media or anything but he does have a nokia phone that he charges at work. He has good hygeine, is in great shape and works well. To some thats a terrible and lonely life but it suits him. I think with all this connectivity via the net and social media we instinctively try to fit in because its human nature (thats literally why trends are a thing) because of this we feel like we need approval for certain things and we read comments trying to find validation. Just do you, do what feels right and makes you happy. Its a great first step getting inspo off of here but then you need to stop watching, go into your own world and trial many things, experimenting yourself with what works until you find your balance.
Best of luck out there guys!

Who cares if it's outdated? Well, sure, some people do, but they're annoying little shits for caring. I like older technology. There's pros and cons of this stuff and it is indeed in some ways better than some modern tech. A lot of this modern shit is built poor quality.

Smidt Szabolcs videóklip-VFX-erről kellen csinálni egy ugyanilyet. Az a csávó te. Annyi VHS-t,meg konzolt, meg rádióból rögzitett anyagos kazettát. Jaj.
És ez egy videóklipspecialista. Mellé meg hangmérnök is. Ja és Horvátban él kint.

good for him, he seems interesting. I dont get societies need for smartphones 24/7 and to need to always have the latest overpriced ones. I mean tablets are no better either but at least you can store things on it longer than ur phone but they still break very easily and i dont get how people can be so online yet so emotionally distant from others at the same time? i have had friends like this where they pretend we are close one minute then next act like i dont exist. same with people i have had to remind them of what i said bc they were on their phone even other "grown adults" do that doomscrolling. its ridiculous atp.

Guess what, genius: The internet makes people depressed.
I'm saying it bc it does that too me.
I didn't had internet for a month, and i felt SO MUCH BETTER.
I felt anxious as always, but the sadness and deep misery i felt when using social media went away.
Really makes you think, don't it? 🙄

Yeah, the modern shit is too bland. Even TVs used to have personality. From the wooden ones that were like high quality furniture to the Disney princess CRT televisions that were pink and everything. Vehicles used to have colour. Houses used to have colour.

There’s too much white and gray on the outside and inside of the houses!

I disagree, the newer things are the worst quality they are. . There's a reason the saying exists "they don't build things like they used to"

That’s cool. One thing he might be missing, though, is that the 90s was literally THE decade that gave us bland. Beige walls, beige furniture, ala Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and Martha Stewart. Wearing neutrals, black, white, beige, denim shirts with beige pants. It was a bland and mostly boring decade compared to the 70s and 80s and I feel like we are still stuck in the blandness of the 90s. But, you do you!

Things are even more bland nowadays. Fast food restaurants are big muted slabs, cars are all the same white SUV, every brand of TV looks exactly the same. No wood grain sides, or unique button layouts or curved vs flat panel etc.
At least in the 90's there was still some spill over from the 70's and 80's, but nowadays you rarely see stuff from those eras on a day to day basis. It's mostly 2000's - 2010's with a tiny bit of stuff from the 90's.
