@@ebnovels Well, in Slovakia, 90% of English language books are sold as paperbacks, so I am used to ordering from Amazon or Book Depository. I have been waiting for Ember Queen to come out before making a decision to buy the whole series, and despite my reservations, I think I will get it. And as I really like your reviews, why not use the links? :)
I just finished Ember Queen and it really was a great ending to the trilogy! It had pretty much everything the story needed to feel complete and satisfying!
in the third book i really appreciated the LGBTQ like hints on how there could deifinetly be different relationships with the same gender (mostly between Heron and Erik) and it was so touching to see that even though they both came from tragic pasts, they found this really unique love between them. and i was also invested to see Heron live to the end to live in the Talvera estate. another thing i wanted to point out was that there were some moments between Art and Maile were so obvious, like the romantic tension was there! but it was kind of dissapointing for Art to not know what she wants in between that relationship and how the author didn't dive more deep into it because i think the choice was obvious for Art if she ever wanted a significant other. overall i feel like for this book to be released in 2020, it feels relieving that there are times where u can have that LGBTQ romance and how peoples views are targeted towards a persons race. it was nice to take a break away from that kind of reality but i think mostly for Theo though it's just fighting for her kingdom but seeing those differences laid aside for the sake of getting together as one is really nice.
Spoilers Henchmen were empty goons. Cress, I liked her dev at the end, showing vulnerability. I'm glad earth politics didn't completely take over her arc. It was starting to and it felt irrelevant to the central conflict with Theo. The ending felt really nostalgic and I enjoyed that. I didn't mourn Blaise, surprisingly. I just didn't feel anything, and I feel feels pretty easily. I was really worried for Art and Heron, though. The magic felt whish wash. It was built up a lot, so should have done a lot. It did a lot, but was too whishy washy for it's successful execution to feel earned. It just felt convenient. I don't think the book is reread material. Everything is pretty straight forward, what you see is what you get. Damn this sounds like I'm slamming the book. Overall, I liked Theo and her journey, and was glad to see her take back her home and throne.
You always upload right as I should be going to sleep (it's 11:30pm in Australia) but you can bet your bottom dollar I stay awake and watch your video! Sending appreciation from the land down under
I gave 3 stars to the first 2.... like you said, you were interested, but they weren't EVERYTHING. I'm glad to hear the last book is so good, it makes me excited to read it. I do feel like the romance definitely took a back seat. If people here are wanting to read it, but don't want anything to do with the love triangle.. I wouldn't say its in the forefront.
Okay, I have literally been waiting for this review for two days (I finished Ember Queen on Thursday :)), and there are so many things I want to say... I guess I´ll have to post two comments - spoiler-free and spoiler-filled version :D Spoiler-free first. I absolutely agree that the audiobooks are very enjoyable. In fact, I "read" all three as audiobooks and cannot recommend them enough. Saskia Maarleveld is a wonderful narrator (she did Serpent & Dove as well, among many other books), and she did a great job. I also agree that it´s better to get through the whole story. I actually went back and re-listened to the first two before diving into the finale. These books are very easy to get through, and the amount of character development and action scenes is balanced very nicely, in my opinion. Overall, I think I can wholeheartedly recommend this trilogy. It´s well-written, fast-paced, and it feels quite realistic for a fantasy. Having said that, I have some issues with how the story played out, but these are very specific and contain massive spoilers, so I´ll just deal with them in a separate comment.
You might want to check out the audio version of Serpent & Dove, then. She reads the female-perspective chapters, and the guy reading the male-perspective ones is pretty good, too. I had such a good time with it :)
Hey Elliot, great channel! I just wanted to say I just recently ordered your book. Looking forward to reading it in March. It's awesome to see a booktuber who is a writer as well.
I picked the first one because I thought it would be trashy but hey it took me by surprise how easy it was to get through it, it hit all my tropes right when I needed something like it. How do you feel about Erik? he was one of my absolute favourites since book 1, along with our best boi Soren.
I, personally, LOVED Erik. There were definitely a few moments where I was somewhat iffy about him, but they passed quickly. I kinda wish that we got more information about his ending, and what he does after the end of the third book.
I didn’t even keep tabs on ember queen until I saw this video! I really liked the first two books too! Now I’m really looking forward to reading the last in the series.
I read it!!!!Thank you sooooo much. I would have not picked this set if not for you. I have read almost all fantasies out there and run out of new ones... .. Love you for it😂😍I am going to pick up next one from your review 👍💓
I am so glad you are talking about these books! I did not want to buy them because I was not sure it would be a great read. Thank you for your help! :)
I have read the first two and so far I love this series more than most of the books I've read in my entire life can I just like how there's fighting negotiating planning quite a bit of romance but not so much that it overwhelmed and it always seems that the writer was trying to take it a bit slow if I'm being honest I really am hoping that Erik and Heron end up to together
At this point, I don't even need the review, I just need to see how excited you are about a book and/or series, and I automatically add it to my tbr pile!
So, i accidentally bought the first book ofthis series, because i thought it was part of another book series with crowns on the cover. And while i haven't read it yet, i've always been woundering if i accidentally struck gold with it. And now its next on my list, after your review. Please say that my mistake was actually fate trying to intervene (Because Red Queen series is not good, lol)
@Mackenzie Agbotui-Nyarho They weren't bashing the Red Queen series, bashing it would've been calling out everything bad/wrong with the series. Personally, I've never read it, so I don't know what it's like, but this person wasn't bashing it.
I really have been wanting to pick this series up, so I'm glad to hear you like it! They had the first book available on Book Outlet so I think I will pick it up.
I really enjoyed your non spoiler review! I appreciate you doing a whole series review because now I’m excited to check out a new series. I don’t tend to want to start a series if I don’t know if the end will be enjoyable. Case in point Fate of the Tearling..... Having never heard of Ash Princess I think you describe it very well for someone who has never heard of it, so I’m excited to get my hands on this series. So thank you so much for the series review!
The skin was hot went cold line... I was choked up through the whole scene leading up to his death... and I lost it at that line. I was listening to the audiobook and was mowing on the zero-turn mower at that scene. I stopped dead cold in the yard, sat on the chugging and loud mower, and bawled my eyes out.
I've got way too many books on my wishlist as it is, but maybe this trilogy needs to squeak in as well! Tiny question, which book is it right next to your mic? On it's right is the Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. Book looks cool but I don't think I know it!
I want to read this, I have Red Queen on order and was told not to read Ash Princess because it is just like Red Queen but more cheesy. Please give any feed back or advice. Thank you all in advance

Gwenna G I would say it is really how mature person reading it is and how well they handled dark and some what gory things

Right? Oh man, I had to keep it together!

I just finished Ember Queen and it really was a great ending to the trilogy! It had pretty much everything the story needed to feel complete and satisfying!
I finished the entire series a while back, this series is very similar to "The Red Queen" series, but enjoyable nonetheless

Yes, I agree! The romance is the most prevalent in the the first, but it gets pushed back for sure :)
@@ebnovels is romance smut or well done
The 3rd isn't out in Belgium yet... Looking forward to the conclusion, because I too liked reading the first two. Not loved, but enjoyed very much.
I hope you find the third as good as I did then :D
The expanding of the universe in the 2nd book how you describe sounds interesting, thankyou for the heads up! on the TBR list
You’re welcome! I’ll say again that the first two are quite “tropey” but the third definitely changes things up :)
Thanks for the recommendation, another book to add to my wishlist
I hope you enjoy it!
