Only problem I have with romance is when it becomes sex on every other page. That's not romance and I start rolling my eyes over it. I consider it a lazy piece of writing by the author.
Especially when it’s zero to one hundred. Like, they’ll have their first kiss and then immediately jump in bed. Like, guys what about the sweet, giddy in-between?? 😢 but I totally agree. The genre is sex saturated.
omg i agree with you on the grimdark aspect of book one of captive prince! and i'm glad you're giving the trilogy a chance!!! book two and three are much better imo and the tone shifts a bit so.. looking forward to hearing your opinion :)
What a great list! so many new suggestions (I haven't had a chance to read any of these, but some of these titles are familiar to me from my own TBR list and you have helped me rearrange it, thank you!)
Lol, iron flame is rough. The tone is all over the place. Sometimes, it's a war book; sometimes, it reads like an anime; and sometimes, it is high school drama. Not terrible, though. Some stuff is excellent, and some of it sucks. It has its charm. I DNF'd it when it first came out, but I am committed to finishing it now for Onyx Storm. I'm on page 45p now.
I'm currently just finishing up the 3rd book in the Captive Prince trilogy, and the grim dark aspects of the 1st book are majorly turned down in the 2nd and 3rd books and the political intrigue is ramped up
I would have ranked The Prisoner's Throne above A Curse for True Love. ACFTL really let me down. Oh you hurt my heart. Daughter of No Worlds is one of my top series ever. I didn't like Belladonna at all and never continued the series. I felt the same about When the Moom Hatched.
I have no idea how Spellshop is classed as Fantasy Romance, other than it was written by a woman. The romance is a side plot, it doesn't really drive anything.
Random question; has the Jen Williams book, “Talonsister,” been released? I can’t find it on Barnes and Noble or Amazon. I know you had made a video about it. TIA. 🖤
I read 3 from this list: Reign and Ruin, I thought it was great at the time but looking back I barely remember the characters so it kinda lost me. Daughter of whatever I DNF'ed towards the end bc it was too damn predictable and I wasn't in the mind space to deal with that. Also the male narrator was not it and was the nail in the coffin, doubt I'll pick it up again. And lastly Iron Flame which surprised me tbh, because I really disliked the first book, but I actually loved the second. The way some emotions were explored really resonated with me and I liked the plot well enough. I think the author definitely evolved from the first book and did a decent job of explaining most of my qualms. I think the book itself reads like a tv show though, very episodic. It works really well as an audiobook but I think people struggled with the physical reading. I definitely want to read more fantasy romance though, but maybe fewer fae/elves/hot humans with pointy ears who live a long time.
Ruthless Vows barely had any romance compared to book 2. Fate Inked of Blood was so predictable in every way.. Feel flat for me halfway through. Hoping book 2 gets better. Interesting how my picks are flip flopped with your choices😅

Oh thank god I’m not the only one who feels this way

I love your ranking system. Hi Luna...🐕
So happy you loved Reign and Ruin! I finished it yesterday and LOVED it!
I plan on reading A Fate Inked in Blood soon and I'm glad to see you liked it. That makes me hopeful.
Historical Fantasy? I don't think I've encountered those yet (unless you mean Outlander..) Will you a do a video about those?
I really enjoyed your ranking and especially enjoyed the format of this tier video. Very nice.
Getting my TBRs right here!
I love your list! And I actually have some new books I added to my list so I cannot wait

5:58 Daughter of No Worlds and Radiance: Totally agree!
Nice video!
"instalust" lol
I read fantasy, I read contemporary romance, but I have yet to find fantasy romance that really works for me.
Try Reign and Ruin if you haven't already 😃 It was the perfect blend for me xx
