Can DCT Convert A Manual Transmission Diehard?

BMW's dual clutch transmission (DCT) is ridiculous fun, but if you're a dedicated manual transmission fanatic and didn't have the option of a manual, would DCT (or something like it) suffice?

p.s. it occurred to me that I failed to mention something good about the manual gearbox in an F80 other than my overly subjective "it's just great" ramblings. It's ultra precise and doesn't feel mushy.. I love that. And even though it's not one of those really small short throw shifters, the like that the travel is just right. Enough space to feel like you can send it into place but not like you're rowing some massive lever. I suppose I should have added stuff like that.

My fav thing about my DCT, is that I like downshifting by kicking the throttle peddle a slight kick 😅 Don’t have to use the paddle shifters all the time

You mean the kick down feature when you floor it and it goes to the lowest available gear? Yeah say goodbye to your crank hub if you do that often haha

@@mcintosh.motors No, the kick down feature is all the way down. I'm referring to a slight quick tap on the peddle to just downshift 1 single gear.

So I’m a huge manual transmission fanatic and when I went to buy my M4 there was 2 options. One was a DCT and the other was a 6-speed and I drove both and to be honest the DCT drove way better than the 6- speed so I went with the DCT and it’s a great transmission

Yep, I agree brother. Having driven both, the DCT definitely has a smoother feel. I still prefer manual but DCT is light years better than any regular auto.

It took me a while to get used to mine it would always be jerky in 2nd gear it’s like I had a third pedal but I couldn’t use it 😂

yeah I've felt that in Nardo too.. crazy how much it kind of feels like a manual at times.
