In this video we look at coins I sent off for grading and look at what I received back vs me buying coins already graded and what I paid for them. A decision must be made by the collector whether to chance getting a low graded coin back or to buy a coin already slabbed. High graded coins will usually cost more but they are worth the investment. A collector's coin knowledge is involved when making this decision. Coins can come back graded with a lower-than-expected grade, and rain on your parade. My answer to that was buy as high-grade slabbed coins as possible. Which what I have been trying to do. Buy what you can afford and as high grade as possible. Then you will be leaving almost nothing to chance. One last thing about choosing the right coin not according to grade but eye appeal as well. Despite the grade if it does not look the part do not buy.

I've collected a few coins here and there, but only in an amateurs way. I like copper, coins with animals, coins from places I've been. But the one thing I like most about coins is to be able to hold them in my hand and look at their details.
Coins have many levels of interest and, as you pointed out, you need to identify what piques your interest.
