I've been listening to this track for years but just learned that its about the Brian Wilson album, Smile, that it took 38 years to finish (and came out the same years as this)
I was working at the London Eye when he did the Smile gigs at the Barbican next door, and when we went for a drink after work there were Beach Boys fans all around talking to us about how amazing it was to see him playing. When i learned this was in tribute to Brian Wilson it made it extra special as a massive TOD fan :)
When they focus on the crowd you can totally tell whose hearing this for the first time, that look of confusion and all am I really witnessing something this amazing. I heard the song from my now ex-boyfriend 17 years ago I still can't stop listening to it to the point where I've nearly been in car accidents playing air-drumds!! Hands down one of the most epic tracks I think I'll ever hear

If you like this intense, brilliant band, you’ll have to switch over to well edited 2009 Rockpalast Cologne/Germany Live gig. 90 mins. of Must see. 🤘😇👍
remember seeing them a few years back, amaaaaaazing band live. They threw their whole drum kit into the crowd, the consequences appearing on one of their live dvds of their tour manager going ape shit at them for destroying ANOTHER kit, funny as hell though.
Love em but they're pretty hit or miss when it comes to live shows. They do a pretty good job making up for it with a pretty stirring visual element though. One of the greatest bands of our generation. I find the crowd hilarious. But that's kinda how I look when on a song such as this. very mysterious
I love their live shows (seem them at least five times) but the first time I saw when they opened for QOTSA one time I think shortly after they had released their second album, the sound and the band sucked. Years later an internet convo, in which I told a British guy who mentioned that Trail of Dead were his favourite artist, that they had sucked the time I saw them, and he replied that he'd killed men for less, I gave them another chance, and have loved all of their shows since.
and u will know us..by the trail of the dead. you whoop a llamas ass! :) saw you here in detroit twice. had a beer by yer side. hope all is well and cant wait till you guys come back through. :)
If you listened to their music, you'd know they weren't sell-outs, i have to say, i prefer their first album, but their music is still amazing, there are very few bands that can get that much intimacy into music, and thats how you know they're not sell-outs.
I saw them last week in Aarau, Switzerland, of all places. And I can assure you they had no Airbus with them. Great gig, great audience, great vodka n' orange !! Sell-outs, no, I dont think so
Yeah really. What tuning is it in? I tabbed out the bass and it's a half step down, but now that I watch this, it's like they're playing in an alternative one.
i don't always mosh, but i would seriously be wrecking everyone that's shoegazing in that crowd, while letting them know they have the right to shoegaze, but they better watch out for me getting crazy.
It is exactly what happens to me any time I see them/saw them live. Bouncers showed up to defend the witless striped shirt tools who wanted to stand there without being bothered the whole show
Rock im Park 2011 Why the fuck they only played with one drums set??? why??? The 2 Drummers are important for this band! So much better with 2 drumsets! But anyway GOOD SONG!
The last third of the video is pure bullshit, I don't know who edited this, but it's just plain horrible. I wonder if this is supposed to be some new kind of concert report or something. Most of the times the singer is filmed against the light, video sequences last one second at best, and the whole thing is assembled in a seizure-inducing manner. Bah... At least the audio is good.
Yeah but...you get over it. People just call them trail of dead anyway. I think the long name is a sort of a statement they don't care what is politically correct.
Who’s still here loving this video and this amazing fucking band
me
some people
How I went 10 ? Years w/o listinening to this while knowing it's brilliance is beyond me!
I am. They keep staying amazing
Me Sir. As of NOW
2024 and i still feel the spirit just by looking at those drummers...
Two drummers got themselves into an endless loop of catching up to the other one
This week I wrecked my arm playing air drums to this. Utterly worth it.
Yes I will
So fucking sick. I would kill for some live music like this right now. Would be raging so hard.
The Shield.
Absolutely murdered this live version. good shit.

yes, good call. You can say it. Mostly miss live and I adore Conrad as a multi-instrumentalist sketch artist genius

I can see the Mars Volta enjoyed this.
Meow Wolf Santa Fe Dec 17 yeahhh
He scares all.. but its his playing that terrifies
Yeah that is because he gets into it. Would like to see him care a bit more but I guess it kinda makes the performance better in a way.
This is Conrad's tribute to Brian Wilson
привет из 2020
I never got why people hated on this album so much.
what kind of cymbals are those?!
Round ones
0:00 - 1:50 ♥
dont listen to the fucking magazines, you guys get better and better - one love
Was the theme of this video to find the most bored people in the entire audience and film them?
pathetic isn't it.
SARCASM METER ABOUT TO EXPLODE!
Yeah really. What tuning is it in? I tabbed out the bass and it's a half step down, but now that I watch this, it's like they're playing in an alternative one.
Its in "Smile-tuning".
Both E-strings tuned a halfstep down and the other four strings tuned a halfstep up.
6:58
@cromlek yea man i do play or else i wouldn't be commenting on this
why have two drummers when they play the same beat??.. good cd band.. need work on the live performance
Kinda reminds me of Pink Floyd though they definitely have a long way to go to reach that level of musician status.
@blackcoffeeseizure True. They are excellent musicians with a some how weak singer. Well, they are still great.
@cdabnor Who are you talking to?
I'm guessing that you are a nickleback fan
ah found it
Vic Mackey brought me here.
@AttilatheThrilla fail
do you play?
i bet u dont, otherwise youd get it.
i don't always mosh, but i would seriously be wrecking everyone that's shoegazing in that crowd, while letting them know they have the right to shoegaze, but they better watch out for me getting crazy.
Zackery Tolles The 4 yr reply lol. Moshing is fucking dying unfortunately mate, just idiots with smartphones in the crowd ruining gigs. Sour times 😔
It is exactly what happens to me any time I see them/saw them live. Bouncers showed up to defend the witless striped shirt tools who wanted to stand there without being bothered the whole show
How is it a total copy?
kjipe folk fra oslo
the baldheaded drummer is scaring me.
you'd need to have 4 arms :D

Rock im Park 2011
Why the fuck they only played with one drums set??? why???
The 2 Drummers are important for this band!

Bah... At least the audio is good.
At least you didn't wreck up your face by trying to drum as engaged as our hairless friend ;-)
Yeah but...you get over it. People just call them trail of dead anyway. I think the long name is a sort of a statement they don't care what is politically correct.
@AttilatheThrilla fail
@pray06 amazingly bad singing :)
Ummmm... What?
