Not sure why I didn't catch myself in the creating or editing of this but.... BDE is Brigade...
I still have my big ass book of them.
Thank you for this information I get alot of fake soldiers in my Dm's and I forgot about some of the terms that are used that every soldier knows that the fake ones don't and I come from a army family (younger brother retired 2yrs ago) and I couldn't get in touch at the moment but I found your video so thank you again and thank you for your service. Peace and blessing
Fun Fact "Hooah" was originally an actual acronym of "H.U.A." Meaning Heard, Understood, Acknowledged.
Sven Johnson Your awesome my CSM in JROTC would always be like well hooah could mean anything and I'm like it means I understand or tracking now I. Can throw this at him!
Ranger Regiment started it, the big Army ruined it, Regiment doesn't say it anymore.
@@TommyTombstone I'm old school Batt Boy, I still say Hooah!!
@@fragout9575 old school Batt Boys get a pass. I'm just an 82nd dude who hates life lol. Almost out and missing my 173rd days.
The most important one is "GFT" which means "Going For Tacos" its very important.
hahaa
As a mexican(me), it’s true
I love pulling out my CAC, especially in front of MPs
lol
my last name being kack, this is going to be a fun journey
At airport now leaving for Jackson... best believe I’m relaxin
How was it
I love the organization and certainty that Armies strive for. There is a process for doing everything. Fascinating.
Just a note on POG. POG is slang for "person other than grunt", but also an official acronym P.O.G. "Psychological Operations Group". 4th P.O.G. under 1st Special Forces Command at Bragg.
Make a part two
young Brave I support this idea
MRE -- "Meals, Rejected by the Enemy"
PFC -- "Proud F*cking Civilian"
TOW -- "Totally Obsolete Weapon"
WARDM89: "That vulgar thing all you dirty people are thinking"
Me: *splurts water across the table
Other people: *thinking what's wrong with him...
hahahahaa
Please explain 😅
I'm a future soldier shipping out in about three weeks for BCT in Ft Sill OK. These videos have been a huge help and I'm planning to do the same route to becoming an officer, going into the Army Reserves and doing Army ROTC in the university I'll be attending. I'm really excited for my MOS which is 25Q and doing a general mathematics major once I get to the university.
Helpful stuff, Matt! In other videos, I heard you talk about a soldier's "flick." It seems to be an article of clothing or a piece of wearable equipment. What is it? A hat?
Thank you so much for this helpful information.
This is helpful Matt, I leave to Ft. Leonard Wood soon for BCT and AIT
Awesome and good luck!
I really appreciate this video this is great
Just as an added bonus, Matt, TA-50 means "Table of Allowances - 50" Not sure if you'll see this, but just wanted to add it! Spent 10 years in the Army - '90-'00 11B & 95B (now 31B) I think, MP.
:An a shortened form of a word or phrase; like "Sgt. or Co."
Live to Survive!
BCT can also refer to a Brigade Combat Team, but if you get put in a BCT, you'll know that.
1 - 6 actual target is in the main house...
Hello Matt! I am prior service Air Force.
Do you hear the DFAC referred to as "mess hall" or "chow hall?"
POC = point of contact
Chow Hall
this video was so helpful!! thank youuu
I love your vidoes. I'm working on getting into the army Hpsp program and it's good to have some background info. In some ways I feel cheated that im not ganna get the full soldier experience
I may have been retired awhile (21 years) but when I was in Battalion was Bn and Brigade was Bde.
Keep the videos up these videos also kinda influence me on joining the Marines
I leave Monday for Ft. Jackson
Wyatt Fernandez good luck!! I’m out to fort sill in March
Me too!!
Good luck!
Wyatt Fernandez my favorite times in my life were at Jackson, I hope to go back soon and finish what I had started. Make sure you listen to what Matt says about the DS. THEY BE RUTHLESS!
I leave in 14 days😈😭
Nice video this explains me a lot
I'm about 4 years late, but one I heard recently is CYA. Cover your "butt". Just generally making sure if you're going somewhere other than your place of duty like an appointment or any other (I cannot stress this enough) LEGITIMATE reason, that you've cleared it with your leadership and let them know where to find you
the px [post exchange]
k.p. [kitchen police] duty
p.m. [preventive maintenence]...emphasized all the time regarding any and all equipment, especially weapons and gear...
The most important one is OTS. “On The Shitter.” If your platoon sergeant is asking where you are during your pt session, just send him a quick text “OTS!!!” And he will easily understand.
No....The proper response is I'm currently executing a class 1 download!
5:39 *i had to pull out my cac* (sorry i had to 😂)
The word "acronym" refers only to initials that are pronounced as a word. POG is an acronym; SOP is an initialism because it is pronounced as the letters used. Abbreviations include DFAC and HVAC. They are hybrids of initialisms and acronyms.
I’m going to see my unit next week (if there’s even someone there lol).. any tips?
SNAFU and FUBAR are two of my favorites.
We really dont use those anymore. Clusterfuck works fine.
Can you please explain bravo and charlie. And how they tie to different jobs
POGchamp
I have a question I need some people to help me out on. I have a pretty bad fear of heights, can you make it through the confidence course with a fear of heights and is it something that once you're there you can just overcome?
I have the same fear. I leave for basic soon. I believe I will get over it because my fear of failure is greater than my fear of height.
Brand newLoving tradoc
Hope im not shooting myself in footh ooahh👍
I learn
Really f'ing fast!
Good ones to know
AR= Army Regulation, the guidelines that Army has set and printed. For example wear and appearance of the uniform is AR 670-1
FM= field manual. The manual used in the field
TM= training manual. Which is self explanatory
inkmob AR 15-1 and FM 7-8 are good ones to read
I still have my fm 7-8 lol
You didn't mention REMF! Though I can fully understand why.
CAC, my last name being KACK this is going to be a fun journey in the army💀
DFAC is where you chop-chop your MRE.
While I was in the army I had a Sargent that hated the hooahh. He said that to him it's a way to cuss at him
You should do an in-depth video of your MEPS experience.
That was the first ever Army video I did back in 2015 before I left for Basic Training 😬 I could probly make another one but that one is like right after I actually went to MEPS
Shootemup89 My bad, i normally search before I ask, but I've been following you for awhile and didn't remember that one. I go to meps next week, and I've been hearing alot of crazy things. Idk what's all true, and some things I haven't found alot of info on. I have a cpl cavities, and heard that I could get DQd for it.
Matt you forgot Soup Sandwich SSW lol
Physical Training or Pickle Tickle. Mama rolled over this is what she said, gimme some PT good for you, good for me
HQ USAREUR = US Army Europe. Was Heidelberg, Germany until recently (2014?). I was an Army Brat living in Germany for 13 years in the 1980s and 1990s. Graduated High School at a DOD school. I worked for AAFES for awhile after High School. (Army and Air Force Exchange Service). Army loves the acronyms. ;) While watching AFN, the one and only English speaking TV channel (in the 80s and 90s), we'd learn a lot of the acronyms during the infomercials.
Ew USAREUR....
Getting ready to go to basic training at fort Leonard Wood in March as a combat engineer.
So does that make me a pog.
Johnathan Wicker you aren't a pog, you are a combat mos
Ok thank you.
Proud to have been a POG (54B...with occasional duties as a 69H (Joke on that last part.).
thank youu
FNG is the first one I noticed from CoD
GTL is what truly matters
Do you get to roll your sleeves in basic? Or AIT?
Nope
MRE=Meal ready eat aka(meals refusing exit) lolPX=post exchangeBX=base exchangeCIF=central issuing facilityMOPP=mission oriented protective posturePMCS= preventive maitenace check's service'sCLP=clean lubricate protectFM=field manual just a few more
Garrett Johnson ETS, PCS, POM site, FUBAR, LES
5:40 lol
Leaving in 12 days for Fort Jackson
What was your MOS
What is a MMFIC??
b.r.a.s.s. [breathe relax aim squeeze shoot]...
How do it work if you go to basic training during your junior and senior year.
Robin Hammond its called a split option. If you are a junior going into your senior year you will go to basic training during summer, finish your senior year and go to AIT after you graduate but if you are a senior you will go to basic training and AIT right after.
Thank you
yepp
Shootemup89 do you have a video about reception at basic.
I though SOP meant Solider On Post
Wait when did that change, on units, BN BTN battalion, bde was brigade
Well, looks like I really screwed that one up. Yeah Bde. is brigade.
AAR= After Action Review would be a good one to know, since soldiers will be involved in those often.
I enlisted as a combat engineer reservist ship out in july
Crushed Ice let me know how that goes, I'm thinking about joining into that Mos
Me too! I honestly can't wait haha
You didn't get my favorite. ETS= End time served.. I'm going home.....LOL..
Expiration time of service
Or Echo Tango Suitcase......C-ya!!
Am i the only one who has to listen to him at 1.5x speed ?
What’s up man. Do you know anybody in 31k military working dog handler? I leave for basic in May and that’s my mos
Sorry I don't..
Shootemup89 that’s cool. Anyway appreciate everything you do on this channel. You’ve really helped me out making the right decisions in joining the army
Will Watson that's wassup
I wanna be a 68T animal Care spaeaclist
in the reserves I take the practice test on Wednesday ☺
@@willwatson5562 so do you recommend it? Lol
Do you get MRE's in BCT?
yes
For some reason it shortened my comment!
Most of these are abrevitaions, as an acronym must be able to be said as a word. For example, NASA is an acronym NFL is not. Love your videos
Pog
I love eating MREs
Not joking when he said CAC I thought calculator.
lol
Can you make another one for military clothes abbreviations?😐
Like what?
Does basic training count apart of TIS
Nutrition Specialist #1 yes
D.J. Burton thank you
Who else wanna learn this for call of duty modern warfare 😂
Guilty
Lmao thought it was just me
Any insight on joining as a 19D?
Tony Savage yea buddy whats your question
Ryan Meehan where would my basic training most likely be at? Would I be able to attach airborne or ranger school to my contract with being a Calvary scout?
Tony Savage I believe a 19D being a Cav Scout goes to fort benning for BCT and they have OSUT there so you will have BCT and AIT at the same base so you will go from BCT straight to AIT without any break, and you probably can attach a contract, airborne will be easier than ranger, because you need to have atleast a 50GT score on your ASVAB or PICAT, and you need to be 21 y/o and in good physical shape, I'm enlisted as a 25U (Combat Communications) with an airborne contract and a 5k bonus, I leave for BCT in july, I was going to go 19D but it wasn't available at the time, that's why I'm so educated on it, hope this helped and good luck
Yes you do 17 weeks of osut at fort Benning! And the airborne contract is dependent on the needs of the army.. if they need 19d airborne it's kinda luck of the draw but definitely ask your recruiter when you talk to him to see if he can get you and schools on your contract.. if you do national guard the odds of you getting airborne on your contract is slim to none! You'll love it man I wasn't sure if 19d was what I wanted to do but after completing osut training I love it!
Can you do only 2 years in the army
Robin Hammond I think I'm wrong but I believe is 4
Never seen anyone do any less the 4 years active. Not sure if it's possible to do less
My bestfriend just shipped out on a contract for 3 years
My favorite....WTFAIDH... What the fuck am I doing here?
Only good MRE are tacos
is cav scout still a pog? lol
Nash Petersen ask your DS. I dare you.
Yes
*coughs* fucking POG *cough*
Jk love your work
Zonk
