My theory on pre pooing, is peoples wash days are too far apart, causing their hair to tangle up more. I wash my hair once a week and do not have to pre poo. I did used to wash my hair every other week and my hair definitely did not like that. Due to my hair being more tangled, I was more prone to breakage. Since changing back to once a week in the last year my hair has grown 12 inches.
@SimoneNicole a tip: You didn't touch on it, but when saturating your hair with water before adding your shampoo, allow the water to run until it becomes clear it does make a difference. If anyone tries it, let me know...
@@kwilliams5728 yes that’s a good tip. That way, you have less of the product in your hair when you shampoo it. When I first started doing this after I went natural, the amount of times I almost slipped over 😂
I've been finger detangling my hair for a year and some change now and yes, the reduction in breakage is so noticeable. It also helps me get to know my hair more and what it needs. I can't imagine going back to brushes.
The way that pattern conditioning mask had your hair looking before adding the melanin conditioner…has me on the hunt for pattern products 💯 that looked amazing 😍😍
I finger detangle and use an old fashion afropick afterwords. Brushes give great curl definition but I was having way too much breakage and wide toothed combs weren't getting much done because my strands are quite fine despite the kinky coiliness. So my fingers gets the larger tangles, but the comb gets the smaller knots that would otherwise be left to form tiny micro locks in between my coils.
Your hair looks so nurtured 😁Loving the wash day. Miche detox shampoo, gets the hair clean but can be stripping. Miche also has a moisturizing shampoo fyi. Their Indulge moisturizing deep conditioner is their real standout!
The transition mask is suppose to be used as a pre poo. Pattern really didn’t clarify the purpose of the mask. I found out it was a pre poo by watching Tracey do her hair. That’s probably why you like the Treatment Mask (deep conditioner) better than the Transition Mask (Prepoo). You probably would have loved it if you used it with that hot oil treatment.
It’s crazy because we have the same length and texture, and I don’t always see that. Your hair is gorgeous and thanks for putting me on to curly clips that match my texture! Very much into twisting my hair before shampooing. In the length retention, I’ve finally noticed that I’m retaining my length again, and I think it’s in large part to both MSM powder in my teas and sealing with my Ayurvedic grease.🙏🏾🙏🏾
I used to only finger detangle my hair for years but I did find that my roots were always so tangled which lead to my breakage at the root of my hair. I found that using a wide tooth comb (gently) and/or a tangle teezer has helped with that issue.
Hi, tip, put the oil on the hair then steam your hair. This will give you the same effect, the oil will get heated while on your hair and scalp which may be more effective than heating it in the bottle and then having to cool it down, ruining the bottle and possibly burning your scalp.
I swear I’m the only person whose hair gets tore up from finger detangling. My hair needs a tangle teaser, a bottle of water and the African pride prepoo….and like 12 sections. I have a totally different curl pattern tho. I sadly realized a lot of my inability to retain length came from wearing it curly. I’m only successful with mini twists…which I’ve mastered if i should say so myself 😂.
@@minimalassembly7893i have 3c in front and crown, and 4a everywhere else, very dense and thick, also high porosity…and it’s like bra strap length not as long as hers.
how are you supposed to heat the oil if the bottle melts? anyway , i dont know who came up with a letter and number system for hair that i see most black hair creators use but that system is flawed. i dont see causation or other creators use that system. nappy fu said she is 4c but you cant be a 4 cause your texture is different than hers. the girl from sweeden says she is 4c but its still not the texture of either you or nappy fu. of course i saw other videos (i didnt take note of their name) but nappy fu is the far end of the spectrum and the letter/number is confusing.

Agreed. ive transitioned to washing once a month and implemented pre poo as required step immediately.
I totally get that train of thought and am happy for your growth! Keep going girlfriend 💪🏾

Have to try the deep conditioner! They sent me some PR and it included these two products, so I was only able to try these for now

This couldn't have come at a better time. I'm sitting here with a head of conditioner as we speak. The motivation to finish 😂❤!!!

I wonder if your roots were tangly from protein overload? Since you slept in the mask from Melanin hair care? Your hair looks gorgeous ❤
Everyone please use what works well for your particular hair type after you figure it out.
Love you girl keep going ❤
ily and thank you 🫶🏾
The slip on MHC deep conditioner is so good but I only used it by itself. Definitely try it solo next time ❤
That's good to hear and I absolutely will! :)
This was satisfying
I absolutely HAVE to wash my hair in twists as well!

It looks like your hair is very long at this point and you didn't even straighten it. Your hair is growing.
