Glad to see that you named your chickens. My grandparents were farmers and raised chickens. If Grandpa wouldn't let you name "your" chicken, that was a warning.
Girl didn’t measure any of the watercolor ingredients! Def don’t use 1 1/2 cups of gum arabic. And a little espresso cup isn’t a proper tablespoon measuring tool..That essential oil “1/2 ml” - very precise 🙄
My only critique for the watercolor binder is that when i see them being made, all the bits are done separately as certain pigments dont need equal amounts of everything. Keeping them separate makes it easier to edit the mix if you have to since you control how much of each goes into the initial mix. Some pigments dont need as much honey as other's, while some colors need more glycerine since they dont naturally flow very much. (Also side note: use a palette knife to do an initial mix of the pigment with the binder. Itll make mulling much quicker since all the pigment should have a little bit of binder on them already instead of just dropping the muller directly on the dry pigment and trying to mix and mull that way) (Also for walnut ink- you can use alum as a salt for the ink to bind to to make a pigment ink which should last longer than just straight ink- check out 'lake pigment' process videos. It should also give a stronger color since it encourages color to be pulled from the dye material)
This was a fun video to watch! You can definitely layer acrylic just fine. one of my favorite art teachers used to use acrylic paints like watercolors, with a series of thin washes to build up to the color she wanted, and her work was always stunning. Also, if you're feeling adventurous, the walnut hulls can also be used to dye fabric. And because of all the tannins involved, you don't need to add an extra mordant like you do with most natural dyes. Basically, dip your fabric in your filtered liquid after you've extracted the hulls and boil until it's as dark as you'd like. Remove from the dyebath, rinse, and you're good to go.
This video nourished my soul, thank you, Rae. It's exactly what I needed right now. ❤ 9:15 Fun fact, squirrels LOVE black walnuts. They leave bits of shell ALL over outside my house. It stains the concrete but it's worth it because squirrels are so cute! 🥰
I love how handling the raw egg is a problem for Rae - lmao. As a baker, I sepereratte yolks from whites with my hands all the time, so that's a non issue for me, but I get that it's hard for some people!
on the Acrylic paint, in some applications like model painting, you want to build up the color slowly for the best surface finish, and the pigment load in your paint is perfect for that!
I love all of these. And your work is so beautiful. Thank you for doing all this goofy stuff so we can watch, learn, and be entertained while we are watching.
I mix acrylic sometimes, but am not an artist, and I was shocked by the amount of medium you used and questioned myself for a minute... until you tried to paint 🤣 great first attempt though!
@SuperRaeDizzle your art is so STUNNING!!! I absolutely love your one color works ( value studies? ). It’s such an inspiration to this noobie artist!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent!!! 🌻☮️🧡
Love the chickens. The walnut ink will be less of a chore and darker if you can get your hands on the green husks the nuts grow in. But use rubber gloves! You find out really quickly how strong the color is, and how permanent. Like everybody else, I was envious of the fun you were having.
rae is backk !! also your makeup is STUNNING, it reminds me of leopard/cheetah makeup that is trendy on tiktok right now ^^ plus you really look like one but in human form, SOO PRETTYY !!
Love seeing art supplies made in different ways. Love your art pieces. Love the way you say oil and boil. Love that your chicken and I share the same name. Love this whole video. ❤
I make my own watercolours too the chameleon mica powders are super fun as they have multiple colours in and look different at different angles.......sooooo pretty xxxx
Of all the art you created with these supplies, my favourite is the beetle. 😊 Am I the only person who finds watching people make watercolour paint in real time SO therapeutic? 😊
This was a fantastic video! From the thumbnail I thought it was going to be a bunch of funny fails, but it was so satisfying! And I agree that the watercolors were beautiful 😻
I’ve never commented on your videos before so it’s my first time ever sense I found your channel well not exactly but I found it recently and somehow I can’t stop watching your channel you are inspiring me and also risking your money to show us hacks and cool things you deserve more subscribers and I definitely love it cause it also makes me curious about art supplies we’ve never seen and what’s best is we don’t have to waste our money cause we have you I appreciate you bye!
If you do this again, please explain to us why you use the ingredients in each medium and why they are specific to the definition of that product. Specifically why you mull, etc.
I raise hens and our eggs are sooo much better thsn store bought. The shells, whites and yolks are so thick. And tasty!!! Well raised hens will lay delicious, healthy eggs. And we had a hen called Violet as well. Sadly she is no longer with us.
I like that you showed us how to make watercolor binder. I’ve been thinking of recycling some of my eyeshadow palettes into water color palettes.

I've also been mixing eyeshadow into varnish or resin. The varnish one is really simple and many artists already have it
THANK YOU for making the distinction between tempera and tempura!!! I see that error everywhere, and it drives me nuts!!

Look at this chemist whipping up some crayons!! This is SO COOL!!!

yoooo its an "artists i subscribe to" party up in here
Isn’t “making” acrylic paint by mixing colorless acrylic base with pigment, not actually “making” it at all? What is acrylic base made out of?

5:40 rae you should add vinegar to the egg mixture it prevents the egg yolk from rotting
I was wondering about how it could be treated so it would keep long term.

RAE IS BACK LETS GOOOO
Such a fun idea. Love you showing all sides of the art process.
Fun fact: walnut dye is how people used to colour their hair :) (and it's still a common ingredient in treatments tonkeep up the shade)
Love you Ray!!! So happy you have a flock of chickens they are the best!! Great work Violet 💜

I made pan watercolors with guar gum. Nobody informs you how bad guar gum smells when it's hot.
holy crap the art with her first acrylics is amazing, i wish i had a print of it.
I love how you made art supplies and you tried it for FIVE DAYS
Ohhh these look like so much fun to make!
I used to take the fluff off q-tips, light the end on fire, then dip it in water to extinguish it. It worked great as makeshift charcoal pencils
OMG lord!!! That's sick gurl!!!

i’m pretty sure that’s how people in the south say oil and they say it like that with any word that has “oil” in it such as boil.
Cray-on vs. Cran. Iykyk
Happy Halloween everyone! I've been following for 5-6 years now :)!!

For the homemade watercolor... does the essential oil *have* to be clove? Can it be any essential oil? Just asking for those who may be allergic.
Walnut ink was so worth it. And so easy to scale up that batch
Crayons seem like fun to make
HAPPY HALLOWEEN SUPERRAEDIZZLE!!!

This is amazing! Your videos are great 🔥🖤
you should make a painting with everything you made together!
I'd love to know how the watery acrylic compares to watercolour. The watercolour effect it gives is interesting.
Hearing Rae say "oil" and "boil" makes me feel so at home ❤ I'm not used to hearing the familiar accent online 😂
