Just bought a NEW Humax Freesat HDR 1100s 500 GB recorder from Amazon. Not cheap but when you consider the cost of Sky subscriptions it pays for itself within 6 months.
Send it back, the new box is now out and recording boxes will be out soon. Had the HDR1100s for a few years now and although it's good they are slow as hell, new box should be much faster.
What’s the difference in a freesat recorder and a humax freesat recorder ?
New Freesat boxes are now available in UK. Curry's/PC World are now selling them.
I was looking at them, did you get one? They don't even seem to have a brand..
@@nicensleazy9085 I'm still using a Humax 1100s. Humax don't make the Freesat boxes anymore. The new company that makes the new set-top boxes is called Arris.
@@Dean_Robbins Are they the ones I have seen PC world

And are they as good as the old Humax?
@@nicensleazy9085 that link you've given above is for the Arris Freesat recorders. I can't tell you if the Arris box is better than the old Humax one, as I don't own an Arris box.
@@Dean_Robbins I've been looking at peoples opinions about them and it would seem they are rubbish.
New box is available on Amazon now, HDD version soon to follow.
Yes but it looks to be horrid :(
New box by arris is on the way in a few weeks have just had an email from freesat to confirm this will be the 3rd gen - humax no longer make freesat boxes
Humax has been replaced by 4k UHD Freesat boxes currently three versions 500gb 1 1 & 2 TB (Tera byte)
Currys now have two Freesat recorders on sale. Just bought one.
I've just bought the new freesat 4K from amazon they have many on there
Any good.?My freesat fox-hdr recorder packed in the other day. Is yours the recordable version as i'm looking to buy a freesat recorder?
Humax was the best on the market and I had 2 boxes go within a few weeks of each other and I went to get another one only to find they have been with drawn and no longer being made. So now I'm stuck watching live t.v cause the hard drives went in both boxes. I'm eagerly awaiting this arris Freesat when ever it comes out.
Maureen m you could consider replacing hard drives if thats all it is. I’ve not done it on a Freesat box, but it’s not a hard job on the Humax Freeview boxes. Hard drives are standard items.
These PVRs have standard 3.5-inch mechanical HDD drives, swapping to a new one takes 5 min literally. Open the box, remove the SATA power and data cables from the dud drive, swap over to new one and reboot. The PVR will ask you whether you want to format the new drive, say yes and job done. If you have a 500GB drive you can update to a 1TB as they're cheap as peanuts these days.
Mines broken too, its not the HDD like comments are saying, its an issue on the motherboard
@@hcc6757thank you so much only had mine two year was just about to order a new one and came across your message, waiting on my new hard drive cost me less than a tenner for 1TB .And thanks to you opened up the box removed it was so easy so much appreciated 👍🙏
Humax stopped supplying Freesat from October 2019
I think they have probably stopped manufacturing the older models and are now focussed on 4k.
I think all TVs should have a built in satellite receiver considering that most people have Sky dishes on their houses and many of these people have left Sky so could just revert to Freesat with no requirement for a box. I’ve been using Freesat for about 6 years now and think it’s great. Got a Humax 1100S box in lounge and Manhattan SX box in bedroom and always great signal and good choice of channels.
Tvs have now its called sky glass

Freesat Humax is no longer available service boxes anymore we cannot believed enough removed about Humax. Need New Freesat 4K ultra boxes coming to later this year.
They are coming soon. Freesat have a picture of the new recorder.

From the article
Freesat has announced the launch of a third generation of set-top boxes.
The range includes three new recordable boxes and a zapper device. They’ll be available from Amazon from the end of February and from Currys PC World shortly afterwards.
They’ve been developed in partnership with Commscope, the former ARRIS.
In addition to the free-to-air satellite platforms 180 TV channels (including over 20 in HD), multiple radio channels and a wide range of On Demand players, including BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, as well as optional pay streaming services such as Netflix and RUclips.
The boxes are 4K ready, enabling a UHD viewing experience where such content is available incorporating a range of features including a 7-day backwards guide. Content from up to 4 channels can be recorded at any one time. The 2TB box can store up to 1,000 hours of SD content.
Alistair Thom, Managing Director of Freesat said, “Our research has shown us time and again that customers appreciate the freedom of choice that our hybrid TV system offers and value the ability to curate their own viewing. Our new generation range of set top boxes allows them to do just that, with easy set-up, a huge range of viewing options and a fast, reliable service that is 4K ready. I’m confident that we’ve produced a platform that will grow and evolve in line with customers’ viewing habits.”
The 4K TV Box 2TB box costs £269.99, while the zapper is £124.99.

Aren’t they coming out with a new version? So it would make sense to empty the old stock first.
New freesat is the 2019 model the latest ! .
RUclips doesn't work any more on humax...
They have a new 4K box I just bought it
I'm after a PVR for freesat when i move in March. I hope Arris comes up with something that isn't too outrageously priced soon. They will be the only PVR which worries me for pricing. Freeview pointing to a main transmitter with all the FV channels and using Youview my only option. What u think?
The BT YouView box is a great recorder for the price. I got one from CEX a while ago, as a recorder it’s very stable and responsive.

Just check to see if you think you would miss any channels.
www.freesat.co.uk/whats/full-channel-list/
Freeview channels vary by local transmitter
Is Freeview not better?
Freesat offers a larger amount of channels pretty much guaranteed, it’s more about not being able to get a Freeview signal in some areas.
If you are not off a main Freeview transmitter, you don’t get very many channels.
leepspvideo I stupidly got sucked into a return offer from Sky counting down until I can leave my contract in June with them..
Not if you are in a poor signal area.
Is the 2019 freesat box the latest recorder available?
This is the latest

I only realised the dearth of Freesat recorders as I looked up for a cure for my PVR which is slow to respond to remote control presses. Any ideas? And what will happen when there are none left?
New boxes have since been released

What you going for as a replacement? My freesat fox-hdr packed in the other day and am looking for a replacement.
@@RACING5312001 You know, I'm not sure. The one on the Freesat sight has NOT had wonderful reviews. I was able to re-format the hard-drive, (lost all the Christmas vids) and it does seem improved. Why not try a 2nd hand Harddiskdrive, and see what happens? All the best
Is the Freesat finished, or just Humax?
