So apologies that the video doesn't show everything I wanted it to.
First time installation, software update, channel scan.
Very simple interface, well laid out remote control.
This should easily replace our Sky Q box!
I'm here because I'm having this delivered today. I moved from virgin to talk talk to save me 30 quid per month. Broadband is sound as a pound for me so far, but the talk talk tv box is another story. First I had to buy the power adaptors so I didn't have to have cables running from router to tv, ,got it all set up, then my wife kicked off because talk talk box doesn't record and they have stopped doing the talk talk plus box now with the record feature... Fortunately I got the talk talk box for free So I'm not really losing anything by not using it, And will set the new Manhattan box up today. That should keep the wife happy for an hour or two.
Thanks for the review.
Copyrights were flagged up by youtube and I had to blur the picture.
Bought this for my mum and set it up yesterday. She has no Internet at the moment but thinking of getting that sorted soon so set up the Manhattan connected to my phone through the WiFi. Updated to a new software, version 2.00 straight away which I noticed now includes the BBC and itv Britbox on the catch up apps. Still no Amazon prime video or Netflix for now. A fairly easy to use freeview recorder, will see how my mum gets on.
hello , how did you connect up to your phone and wifi please , i have no internet either and would like to get updates on my manhatton box too , any ifo would be appreciated ,,, thamks
@@garysteele3968Google it Lad!
I was unable to see the back of the box to see if they have same fittings as mine. I had it connected to old tv, but new tv hasnt got same connection. Thank you anyways.
Would the quality of the freeview picture be any different compared to a £300 Panasonic freeview box.
The overall quality of your picture is made up of the TV, the HDMI cable and the Freeview box. The short answer is no, there will be no noticable difference between any good quality Freeview box and another generally.
Great review - thinking of getting this to replace my Virgin Media V6 box as I’m currently paying around £90 a month for my package!
£90 a month is scandalous. That's worse than Sky. I thought Virgin Media were a bit cheaper than Sky?
@@Revolver1981 My friend was paying £109 per month with Sky.
@@OneWingdAnge1 Yeah Sky are greedy money grabbing bastards.
Brought this box however when scanning it only finds 93 channels. I have an aerial cable plugged into the back.
Is the aerial on the roof and the correct type and correctly aligned?
No GOLD channel either but Smithsonian and PSB American are right there!
I understand why you blurred out TV programmes, but surely Manhattan's EPG is not copyright? I really wanted to see it. Some reviews have mentioned they are having trouble reading the blue text on a black background.
Hi
Blue text on a black background??? Where are they seeing that? The menus are as clear as day. White writing with the current option highlighted in a blue box with a transparent blackish overall screen.
@@Trevs-Shed Thanks for confirming that. (The review was in one of the Argos reviews)
I plugged my indoor cable into the back of the recorder box. The 'click OK' to get started message appear. Press the OK button and nothing happened. I replaced the recorder remote control batteries with brand new ones and still nothing happened. I hope that I don't need to get an outdoor aerial installed.
My friend just bought a T3-R from Amazon. Unfortunately, there is no Manhattan splash screen on any HDMI input on TV, just a 'no signal detected' message. Tried it with two different HDMI cables. She has now sent it back. Your video was useful in showing what should be seen when it's switched on, many thanks.
What's Manhattan splash screen?
@@Revolver1981 The first thing you should see when switching it on.
@@tvenergyproductions1 I had absolutely no problem with my T3-R box at all. Set it up within 5 minutes of connecting it.
@@Revolver1981 Thanks for the info, my friend sent it back to Amazon and got their money back.
Thinking of getting this because I’ve just returned a Humax stb after only a few days - it was very buggy, the ui was crashing every day. Is this Manhattan any better?
Crashed occasionally but no worse than anything else.
Hi brother, did work free TVs out of UK? in Iraq?
or free TV work when connect to WiFi or only working with aerial ?
RUclips and RUclips kids working with WiFi? thanks so much
Hi iss there a way to get rid of the trash instead of waiting for it to just empty by itself?
Shame you didn’t show which holes you were poking all the wires in , that’s what I wanted to know 😢
Does it have to connect to Internet or can I just use the areial wire?
Ariel wire will work fine
Josephine Stuksis. forgot to add my name, sorry.
Can I use this box without the internet as I don't have it? I only want it to record TV programs and watch those.
@@elizabethblack3863 Yes. You can.
When you rewind it back to last Sunday or Tuesday and where it says options and when you press ok where does it take you thanks
Question: does your box sound like a clock ticking. Mine does and I’ve updated it but it won’t stop clicking.
No, but are you hearing the hard drive accessing data?
@@Trevs-Shed it’s ok, it wouldn’t boot. Connected support and they advised a replacement. Got one and all working fine.
Hello,
Im leaving in France when is at scanning for the channel i dont find any channel is it only for UK? Is it any solution to be able to found uk channels?
103 HD tunes to Meridian wherever you are. Only 3 SD is regional.
How does it work with old TVs will I get some extra channels on free view because I haven’t got a sat dish..
I'm not sure but..
Is it possible to assign channels to the key pad.
At the moment I press 1 and bbc 1 appears in SD then I have to press a button to select HD.
I would like HD to selected with one press.
Then complete the process for all 9 keys..
Is this even possible.
Thanks
Hi, does it receive BBC Red Button teletext when watching TV through it? our old Humax does but I know some new devices don't anymore, our new Samsung TV doesn't get it so our only way to access it is through our Humax which we want to replace.
do you need to leave the ethernet cable connected permanently or nhow frequently do you need to update the software
No you don't need it connected to the internet all the time. I use WiFi only when I'm watching catch up TV or RUclips.
Can you use an indoor arial
Really, only if the signal is very strong in your area and you use a high quality aerial.
The picture is blurred and 52 people like it that way.
Im looking to get Freeview Play and have a few questions.
Is there a difference getting a TV with the Freeview Play app and a Freeview Play Recorder?
Can you download separate streaming services in the Freeview Play Recorders like Netflix, NowTV and Prime?
Yes. A Freeview Play Recorder records stuff as you watch another channel.
How noisy is it? If it can rewind live tv then it must be constantly recording and spinning it hard drive, can you disable the rewind live tv to stop that or is it quite? Do it also have a flat top or is it curved?
No noise for us in the living room. Slightly curved top.
Lol how can it fuse(install) into read only memory. Thanks for review I'm looking for a new box to replace sky how's the box held up so far?
It is ok. Certainly paying out a lot less each month.
@@Trevs-Shed I just ordered one it's coming tomorrow, I'm just waiting for sky to send me the box to return the system, I'm sick of sky, they told me they would charge me £25 a month for 18 months but they charged £35 a month for 18 months! 3 months with this box and it's payed for itself 👍 thanks for reply.
Can’t see back of box!
Just paid heft price for this recorder and now just found out this is not compatible with a satellite dish?? is there any way around this???
Hi. No. This is Freeview box, it requires an aerial. Freesat is the type of box required for use with a suitable dish.
Thanks for the review, I was torn twixt a Humax or a Manhattan, Manhattan has won. BTW, the eighth letter of the alphabet is 'aitch' so it is Aitch DMI as opposed to Haitch DMI. Check your OED if you don't believe me ;-)
Would this work with any arial/dish? Is there a difference? thanks
This is a Freeview receiver, so must have an aerial connected to it.
How do I know if it is recording my progeamme
Look at the channel and you will see the record symbol, look at your future recording list and you will see it listed there as well.
Do I have to have Ethernet connected as I don’t have one
No you can use WiFi. That's what I use.
@@Revolver1981 thanks
Terribl reception always breaking up
Get your aerial sorted.
What a stupid review. Nobody else bothers about copyright on TV shows when demonstrating a product. So we can't see the TV guide.
Mate the pictures terrible
