Waylons unique style voice is ABSOLUTELY incredible and amazing. No 1 shall never ever be able to compete with Waylon , he was in a league of his own. RIP Waylon Jennings. ELIZABETH SCOTLAND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I all waylon Jennings was a real good electric guitar player he could play anything .l never seen him using a pick with his hand or did he have one on his thumb can some won tell me if did because the sound came out excellent
Waylon had many interesting picking techniques, and he did use a pick at some point in almost everyone of his songs. Look at the performance below - from the timecode i link to - you can see he switches between thumb picking and the pick several times to adjust the sound. He would just keep the pick between his small and ring finger in his palm when not in use. Very clever picking :-) ruclips.net/video/g1vGoAQrkCY/видео.html
But you are right - in his later performances like this one, he would not use a pick. I guess you get a little bored of being lead guitar at some point and decide to just turn your guitar down and sling your thumb to the beat instead.
Yes from what I understand he lived less than two years after this concert. His diabetes was so severe his foot had to be amputated sometime after this show. I know we can all agree this was one concert he gave his all. Saying goes 180% and more. He was probably having a lot of leg pain and unable to stand.. Being in that chair did not hinder his performance. What a show this was. Betty Gardner, I hope you can find the complete concert. You Tube had it up a couple of years back and then it disappeared. Jessi singing Storms Never Last to him helps those of us who have or had wonderful marriage mates reminisce on some of the ways love keeps a marriage strong. Hope you enjoy the video when you find it. Ms Lou

Waylon couldn't walk really well and was wheelchaired at that time.
