- The Traveling Wilburys (sometimes shortened to the Wilburys) were an English-American supergroup consisting of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. Originating from an idea discussed by Harrison and Lynne during the sessions for Harrison's 1987 album Cloud Nine, the band formed in April 1988 after the five members united to record a bonus track for Harrison's next European single. When this collaboration, "Handle with Care", was deemed too good for such a limited release, the group agreed to record a full album, titled Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1. Following Orbison's death in December 1988, the Wilburys released a second album, which they titled Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3, in 1990.
The project's work received much anticipation given the diverse nature of the singer-songwriters. The band members adopted tongue-in-cheek pseudonyms as half-brothers from the fictional Wilbury family of travelling musicians. Vol. 1 was a critical and commercial success, helping to revitalise Dylan's and Petty's respective careers. In 1990, the album won the Grammy for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group.
Although Harrison envisaged a series of Wilburys albums and a film about the band, produced through his company HandMade, the group's final release was in February 1991. After several years of unavailability, the two Wilburys albums were reissued by the Harrison estate in the 2007 box set The Traveling Wilburys Collection. The box set included a DVD containing their music videos and a documentary on the band's formation.
I’m 70. What would I do without RUclips. So many beautiful songs. Ours was the best time of all. My kids don’t understand. Shame. We’re just oldies.
I'm 43 years old. I was blessed with parents who taught me how to appreciate REAL music. My dad did such a great job that I sometimes feel like I lived through that era of music.
Thanks to my upbringing, I now have a 25 year old son and 4 year old granddaughter who appreciate it also!
Yes! Thank goodness for RUclips!
Nah, we are connoisseurs of great music. Period.
65 here! Yes, I agree 100% we had the best era for music. RUclips is my go-to happy place for nostalgia!
No, we aren’t “oldies.” We have the best ever taste in music because we had the best to start with, not to mention all the Motown wonders. Never sell yourself short. But after the Stones and the Beatles and Moody Blues and et al, we got even more in the 90s. Take a listen to Marc Cohen. Dare you not to fall in love.
75 here. My kids understand. Took them to concerts at an early age. 4 sons..all join in. It amazes me how much of MY music is on their playlists.
One of the finest groups of all time. No egos, just great music. RIP George, Roy and Tom
Agree Humble no ego just "very gifted talented guys" who love what they do. Thanks Guys
Amen!
who do they have to imnpress?
they are fans of each other
Roy Orbison is a Musical GOD
even to these guys
Born 1958, I've been in love with all of these musicians at different times in my life. Seeing them together as a band has been a treasure over the years that I never tire of. RIP Roy, George & Tom.
Same as mine
A '59er here & totally agree🙂🙏
Those were the days
A passing Aussie
Also born in 58 I agree best music ever.
I’m with you girl ! I’m “only “ 68 , but I love the Wilburys, and I wish that I could tell their families how much HAPPINESS the songs give us still and FOREVER !! Zoo Judy Mora

Fantastic always
One of the greatest group of musicians .The Traveling Wilburys❤❤❤
Let’s also say hi to Jim Keltner on drums (Sidebury Wilbury)! One of the greatest session players ever…
Yes Annie
Jim is from Tulsa.
He has played with nearly everyone
Been in L.A. since the early sixties when L.A. was full of Okies - not just Leon .
Many Tulsans in the Wrecking Crew.
Glad after all these years to find out your name!
Well I guess I found my answer. Love the Willburys.
The first time I heard this cut, I was blown away by Keltner. He informs the entire group. And you can pick him out of any group. Im no musician, but he's amazing...
Usually overlooked, but the undisputed world champion session drummer.
All my favourite singers rolled into one, just brilliant, they just can't compare with today's music, never hear the likes again, but memories never fade ❤️❤️🎸📻🤗
And memories are like Star lights... they go on forever...
Awesome just awesome We love them ❤️😍😘
I am 75 years old and love the Travelling Wilburies also. Enjoyed the Beatles as well, but George was always my favorite so of course I love his band❤️❤️
I was the odd-ball of the high school group. The chicks liked Paul and the guys liked John.. it was either John or Paul was everyone favorite. But not me, noway. George was the coolest and best of them all. Putting together All things must pass, as well as Bangladesh, bringing together a million musicians to Jam together. And the Wilburies show his talent and coolness once again.
And I agree, Ladies! GEORGE
ROCKED THE KASBAH!!!!
(I’m a new 75 yr old woman)
George was the bestest Beatle. ❤
77 yes old & agree our generation had the very best music.
I think George did the best work post Beatles....both here and his solos
Unfortunately George lived in the shadows of Paul and John, but at the demise of the Beatles he was able to express himself freely and became the true artist he was born to be
I agree with that wholeheartedly. I have in various forms G.H. albums.
Every one is excellent. You did it Brother George; the Beatles were just one of your gigs... good band.
Hari Georgeson solo recordings.... exemplar; don't need the Beatles.❤
I turned 50 this year, my parents played all.these artists in their own bands and as individual
Performers, and as the wilburies, all through my childhood. Car journeys to grandma's summer barbecues . Or just mum doing the hoovering. Just the best music you can feel the happiness in them all playing their part. Happy memories. I will carry on listening till.im old and grey. Even at the end of line
They had such fun putting these songs together, As George said, It was Magical.
The way they even got together, then so laid back, truly not about the money anymore for them.
5 of the best musicians brought together to create the most wonderful music ever - still listening after all these years
A true ‘supergroup’.
My most endearing group of musicians to ever get together in a moment of time
♥✞♥ Lord let me find back the lost treasure of time ,time for gentle listening to a friend ,for sharing the play of a child, for consoling the suffering of a fellow human being ,for thinking without straying, for labor without pressure.
Time to enjoy music ,friends and meals. Time to be silent and alone. Time to be present to your mystery ,free me from the tyranny of time urgency. Let my life be a gentle preparation of the pure and precious moments of listening to you ,so that I may not drown in the rushing waters of practical pursuits. ♥✞♥✞♥
Greatest talent EVER condensed into one band.
I stand in awe.
Truly one of the best bands ever! Love them all!
♥✞♥Hebrews 1o
30 For we know Him Who said, Vengeance is Mine [retribution and the meting out of full justice rest with Me]; I will repay [I will exact the compensation], says the Lord. And again, The Lord will judge and determine and solve and settle the cause and the cases of His people.
31 It is a fearful (formidable and terrible) thing to incur the divine penalties and be cast into the hands of the living God!♥✞♥✞♥
Glad Roy got his due-recognition after being eclipsed by the British Invasion in early 60s.
You don’t hear music of this quality anymore, beautiful sounding to anyone’s ear!
Three Great songs from five Great Musicians! Behold, never to be seen again.
Sad but true.
Sadly your correct never again!
I am a 78 year old female, who was there for the greatest times in rock and roll history, and when I want to remind myself how fortunate I really am, despite the creaks, I put on the Travelling Wilburies, and I'm not quite a teenager again, but at least late 20s, and singing along.
76 and totally agree!
A girlfriend of mine from high school days told me about the Traveling Wilburys, about 25 years after we graduated (ours was an on and off again, mostly sex relationship) I'm age 75 now and relate to your comment above. Keep going all the way up to THE END OF THE LINE.
80 years on, from a time and America that is gone A reminder of what youthful hopes and dreams were ...
I hear ya. Their music can definitely do that for you. Does it for me too!! 😊
@@michealfigueroa6325 Never underestimate America. Good times are coming.
74 and feel 20 when I listen to these guys. Magic. ❤❤❤❤
Get goosebumps just listening to them sing with so much feeling and love..George always will be my favourite Beatle.
I sing their songs at karaoke !
You can hear sometimes the 5 guitars and match em to the pros.
Great choice. Like one of the band!
One thing for sure ,this music will never die.So much talent in one place.WOW.
A rock hall of fame band of some of the greatest rock talent to ever grace us!🥰
I have no idea how I missed these guys back in the day. I have always been a big rock and roll fan so it befuddles me how these guys got past me but I recently discovered them and oh the joy of listening to their music.
If your life was like the rest of ours, you had work, children being raised, so much happening in building your family that time for music had to creep in often to remind us who we were.
Only 3 left with this supergroup Bob, Jeff and James Keltner the drummer. RIP Roy, George and Tom. A band consisting of legends releasing great music. Will be missed.
I was 16 in 1970 and even my daughters in their 30,s enjoy there music
Great music is my medicine......plus a few beers !
What a bunch of supreme musicians. Shame we have lost so many so soon
Have to agree with the very positive comments here. I feel the same. Magical for sure. I can’t listen and not start tapping my toes, my brain just starts chording all by itself and I LOVE THAT FEELING …so thank you guys! Talk about reaching and teaching my soul! My brother always said: “ you can’t be sad for long if you listen to “I know it’s your birthday “ by the Beatles…same goes for the Willberries….
Imagine George's record company receiving Handle with care as a final top up track for an album wuthout being told who else was on the track. WAIT,WAIT - WHATTTT!!!
Always remember Sidebury, outstanding on both albums 🥁🥁🥁👍
Sometimes the stars just fall into place and the result...well, it's magic.
God bless from practising Angel 😇
Look at those gifted hands. Love it.

What really stands out to me , ( about their music ) and puts into the ranks of superstars, { as if they wernt already ) is just how easy they made it look!
They were about the music ,no posturing, they didnt need to,when u r that good,u have nothing to prove, just love them xxx
Wow...how good was George's voice... he sounds so much like John...but Roy what a singer
Roy's voice in Handle Me With Care. What a tone, just beautiful to the ear.

Love everyone them. They all have their unique style. Wish they were all still around.
Super band … exceptional unique and creative artists … the ipitome of artistic collaboration
Among band members .. god bless them all … they’ve left us a legacy of timeless music ..
It was a real super group. Each member is/was unique. Dylan with his incredible lyrics, Linn, Petty and Harrison composing fantastic tunes and Orbison singing like a god. Roy, Tom and George must be rocking in heaven. God bless them.
It was such fun to hear these guys, They were all great as solo artists. Together, their talent was 5 bright shining stars!🌟
God bless 'em.... We're ALL go'in to the end of the line- Lord willing,...
Amen 🙏
Unique, as in having five proven entertainers with a successful heritage behind them in their own right. Then getting together with nothing
to prove, but to enjoy themselves in a complimentary way. Bonding, writing, playing and singing together, with the listeners, be they fans or
or just music lovers, being the winners. Well done Travelling Wilburys!
I think the "nothing to prove" part is important. They just wanted to do some music with each other. It happened to be great music but that's just what one would expect.
Really enjoyed their album. Most are gone now but we have their music to enjoy
Most? Still 3 left
@@mcadam5702 You are mistaken only 2 left not 3 as you say, Jeff and Bob as Tom was the last one to pass. Roy first then George. The Official line up of the band was 5 George, Jeff, Bob, Tom and Roy.
@@JoanVioletStretch yes you are correct. I can remember my comment and immediately checked on and i was wrong. Glad you replied. Have a great day. Love from England
@@mcadam5702 You too, Thanks 😊
One of the best bands ever how could you miss 5 great song writers and singers
What more can I say? A super-duper group.
Absolutely beautiful guitars... Cool songs as well.
great voices will live forever
When I see the Traveling Wilbury's, I'm thrilled when I see Tom Petty with George Harrison singing together. Actually Tom with anyone singing together because Tom Petty has been gone a long time now. It's wonderful to remember him when alive and hear his voice. Thank you.
as has George been even longer. We also have Roy Orbison gone too. Heck, every time I turn around someone else has left the earth to head off into the eternities.
Every individual is a legend in their own rite.Only two left God bless them all.
They are dying from right to left. Watch your back Jeff!
ROY CARRIED THE GROUP VOCALLY , OUT OF THE 5 really great musician Roy is the most under-rated
They were the best. So good to listen to them.
So sad 🥺 they have passed away... curiously in the exact same order (from left to right). 🙏 Dylan and Lynn be with us for a long time!!!
I am a 68 year old female and love the old music
No hate
No killing
No head banging etc
I wish my body was still 18 - ha ha
😊😅😢😂🎉❤😅😊😂🎉😮😅😊
LOL, You gals have a window 18 to 40 , But its alright.
Da bleibt wohl nichts mehr zu sagen super Stimmen klasse Sänger..Dankeschön ❤❤❤
Musicians dedicated too their profession.👍👍👍👍👍👍
I know right. Come on, it doesn't get any better
Ive always been a 60's man but have found the Wilbury's and cant stop playing them.
Isn’t it great, it has a strong 60’s feel if you consider their ages. Just awesome.
Have you ever thought that because you are a 60's man that in itself is the reason you can appreciate this band. After all, the members all came from that timeframe.
Oh heck I just love/loved the Travelling Wilburys ... such talented individuals .. genius sounds....God Bless 'em all
Only two of these amazing artists are still with us now. So much talent gone forever.😢
What a legendary line up!....WOW!.....
Great pic of the boys. I like Roy's axe best - a mighty weapon of Rock.
I didn't know initially that Roy wore regular glasses. He forgot his before a show, so he just wore his sunglasses, and the look stuck.
Tears of Joy listening to this great Artist !!!!
Hats off to travel. Wilbur's. Rip tom and Roy and all we are. Love you guys bklyn ny
BEAUTIFUL. There's not a bad track on the albums. To me, this band was perfect. Thanks, lads. ❤❤❤❤❤
I like Jeff Lynne's red Gibson the best but George Harrison's singing and playing in the first song is so good.
I knew it, Tom was the singer for this band. My parents tried to tell me he wasn't, idk why they did this 2 me when I was growing up.
By 13 I had forgotten this band exsist, but not their music, I just remember Tom Petty and the The Heart Breakers bc I was so young their mental mind fuckery of an good time I just shut out the name and band as whole but remember the music and I, just moved on to heavier music in general. I just so happened to run across this and that memory came running bk along with the band and the song's I have now since forgotten, and couldn't understand why I couldn't find certain song's all these year's when I do hit back home with my music. For Music is my home and it's also where my hearts is and so making my heart already home, I just gotta go back to the very music that started it all for me.
Makes me wonder if any one before the 1990's liked their parents music as well and does go bk every so often as if we have to keep reminding ourselves so it's never forgotten. But if our children do not like their parents full music range then what?.
Like it sucks ppl are now not alive 2 exsplain music fully from past of the past year's......
I Just loved your comment...I am feeling Just like you...I am 74 now.
I love this group very much in 1988 I bought my mom the cassette for Christmas miss you mother I have your cassette back now
Such a treat. True top class originals. A great set of 3 songs. Thanks for posting this.- End of the line - is the extended version over 5 minutes - is such a classic .
These are the masters of music for all time.
I am 76 and have seen many bands groups but the wilburys are the best the pinacle just appreciate they came along in my lifetime i have recorded a playlist for my grandchildren vol 1 & 3 so they can hear the best
Great lead and broken lead and most of all, great musicians!!
For some reason they bring calmness
They pass away from right to left in order. Roy, then George, then Tom. Next will be Jeff, and Bob will be "End of the Line". Always knew he would be immortal.
Happy New Year....handle each other with care, I wish...Health good deeds and Progress to all you!!
Tenho o Álbum deles! Uma D.E.L.I.C.I.A!!! Todos são MASTERPIECE! Fico arrepiada com esse som! 🎼🎵🎶🎷🎸🎺🎤🎻🎹🎧
Any music that make you feel good & remind you of good times, is good music new or old!!!
What a wonderful treat to enjoy these memories while taking in the Coastal Range off our front porch. Great times .

I was living with my bud's in the late eighties in Hopedale Mass...We had this blaring all the time out of our "Delta House"..People actually called us the Willburys.....RIP Haynzie..
Wonderful!!
I am 61 yrs old and I been listening for a long time. Everybody got somebody to lean on ❤❤
Great song great band great
Fue una SUPER BANDA !!!!! GENIOS !!!! Los sigo escuchando manteniéndolos siempre conmigo.
Wow... great stuff... this is fantastic... these three songs go up with the all-time greatest 3-songs of any group, ever.... Thank you for this extended version of, 'End Of The Line'
Timeless
The five biggest acts in the history of rock and roll and the top leads in everyone with the only two actual singles being Dylan and Orbison good God how could this not be one of the greatest matches you've ever seen and here we are 30 years after and the remainers Dylan and Lynn now in their 80s and still performing add Clapton Jeff Beck and Graham Nash and they will live again
Equals the most overrated band in history.
That's right
Lynne's 73
Best band of all time
These guys were so great because they had all outlived their egos. They played for the music. 🥰
so sad that we have lost three of these guys. This was a group like no other. They were simply AWESOME!
So lovely to sit back and listen to such talent but I so wish they were all still here making their special music !
Best of the best....keepin it simple and straight to the heart....no better music or musicians
Love it!!!!
Somehow, 'Rockabilly,' found it's best contenders ! lol💜✨💜
It can’t get better than this …. It can’t !
I really hope a musical group play on youtube..just the vibes..doing music. Karolyn Melbourne
When all of these artists got together, magic
This just happened! They had the gift, all of them did, how it could be that the fates brought them together like that is kismet!
Super group ! you bet'cha ass bout that !!!
Five Star....⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Could not have put five better musicians togeather…while it lasted…they were just remarkably great, to say the least!!❤❤Kay,nz
