We're performing this piece at my graduation this week, it's very bittersweet, but this is a gorgeous piece. It's the second time in 2 years my high school symphonic band has performed this piece, 2 years ago when we did this, we dedicated it to a senior member of our ensemble that year that passed away from an epileptic seizure, it's still a little emotional for us to perform it.
I played this in district band this year. Even though it was really difficult, especially on the sight read, I don't think I've ever played anything so beautiful in my life. Even second clarinet was amazing.
Galante is among my top three favorite composers, with this and Mt. Everest being the main reasons why. Strangely enough, another of those top three composers also wrote a piece which he titled "Beyond The Horizon". Clearly, great minds think alike.
Allow me to explain. My high school band performed this piece, and the comments which I am pretty sure you are referring to are by a couple of guys in the band. Rossano is my Uncle, so they thought it would be funny to poke some fun at me.
Rosario Galante So it was an inside joke misinterpreted by those on the outside. That said, since you're his nephew, please pass the word that I really enjoy his composition. Actually, "we enjoy" because the Clackamas Community Band (Clackamas County, Oregon) have a couple of his pieces and love them. (Even if we don't really do them justice.)
This song was dedicated to and written for my school's band: The Point Pleasant Boro High School Band. Our conductor from the high school back then, Mr. Caliendo (who is the 5th grade band director now), knows Mr. Galante. Galante dedicated this beautiful piece to our very own high school band... Don't believe me? Look it up :) I cried when I first played the piece. It's just... Wow.
Emma Griffiths Well, the composer wrote it/dedicated it to us. Maybe the backstory that Galante possibly wrote was about the beauty of the world? But on our score/parts, it said... Well dang, it was a while ago... I'll take out the score tomorrow and check exactly what it says haha. But all I know is that it was dedicated to our band/former director

I really enjoyed performing this with the Concord Band at Boston's Faneuil Hall. It is a richly transcendent melody which inspires you to make your instrument sing. Check out our performance!
Galante writes such flowing pieces. They're like melted chocolate, thick and gooey. One of my favorite composers.

+Craig VanVickle sinto pelo membro da sua banda, mas que essa peça faça ter lembranças boas, abraço!
We are playing this in my Middle School Symphonic band, as well as Montana. Look up Montana on JW Pepper, it is the one with the diamond.

the negative comments by the two below are out of line and really uninformed...this is really beautiful music, and not meant for such as those...
