Sailing With Whales is a majestic work featuring heroic brass fanfares, sweeping melodic lines, lyrical themes, and energetic, rhythmic ostinati. I love the breath that's left in at the start of the recording, just makes this performance so much more... human.
rossano galante always writes the best horn parts
yeah he actually remember we exist
unlike a certain other composer... *glares at John Philip Sousa*
@@GiordanDiodato that name is forsaken in the world of french horns
@@GiordanDiodato as John Philip Sousa, cope
Sooo true. So happy to play a rossano galante playing french horn
he knows how to value each nipe
This, to me, sounds like the ultimate maturation of Galante's film score style. Here's hoping he writes for more advanced ensembles going forward. Imagine the glory of a grade 6 Galante!
By far the best Galante piece imo
totally agree i’ve listen to most of the popular ones. this is by far the best
This and hypnotic memories
Finally my man isn't afraid to use trombones. Fire song; wish my band could play this.
Our band is playing it now, clarinet part goes hard
I don't think Galante is capable of making a piece that isn't a banger 🔥
Galante at his best! Love the heroic emotion this piece conveys, and you can even hear a sea shanty-esque section come through! One of his best compositions in years.
Can't believe it's a high school that's playing this
It’s definitely Hebron high school
It’s a HighSchool in Japan buddy
My high school is trying to play this too 💀
It’s not that bad
@@mrmansgames9747 maybe yes, it's not impossible technique-wise by any means, but their sound, tone, and tuning is what makes this impressive compared to most high schools imo
The trombones sound amazing throughout this entire piece, so glad Galante finally featured them. The trombone entrance at 2:34 gets me every time 🤩
It’s a shame f horns aren’t in it
I have to recommend this piece to my director🔥
Grade 5 back in the house baby yessirdi 👏
finally an actual difficult bari sax part. the weird triplet rhythms are so coolllll
Ikr?? As a first year bari/sax of any kind (I started on clarinet), these arpeggios are completely killing me lol. My band is playing this right now for contest, and this is such a moving piece to hear live.
Really really love the Trumpet and clarinet line at 4:39
anybody else hear careless whisper at 4:15 i was trying to go to sleep and it caught me so off guard but beautiful piece
I also noticed that
It made me do a double take 💀
LMAO
Bro the sax intro to the chorus at 3:16 sounds so epic and massive gotta be my favorite part of the piece
And clarinet 🤓 👆🏼
i can see why my director likes this composer (we've played other songs composed by this guy for the past 2 years, i'm in my junior year)
my high school is going to play this for contest :,)
This is a live recording of this song. You can hear the applause when the band finishes playing.
Very soundtrack ish! Beautiful
4:15 careless whisper
This gives me intense space vibes
Brava!!!!
ok who else got chills from the trombones at 4:31?
A sea epic!!!
4:39 excellent reference to Hypnotic Memories, and earlier work of Galante's.
omg I love that part, transitioning from the slow part to the fast part is so emotional
My 7th grade and 8th grade band is playing this i cant wait
how is it going
@@akhilperam8553 interesting to say the least I'm flute 1 our section has done well but the low brass is struggling our 8th grade saxophones have done really well 7th grade has not and the clarinet 2s are honestly just selling other then that pretty good
@@aliviachaudhuri1841how tf is your middle school band playing this? This is for high schoolers lmao
@@levimack6989 some sections sold =hard ngl
oof, this is extremely hard for high school, never mind middle school lol
my favorite part has to be 3:26 to 3:59 escpecially the run at 3:51
Is that a tribute to Star Wars in 1:06 - 1:20?🤩
I would love to see a video of a tall ship sailing alongside a pod of whales, breaching...
Is this the Hikarigaoka Girls' High School Wind Orchestra? They're fantastic!
i think it is, the breath from the start is so iconic
Sounds like another piece of his, midnight ride, but more pirate themed
1st comment!!!
W
Nobody cares, you know?
4:16 it sounds like careless whisper help
🎉
There isn't a Galante piece I don't like!
I agree, Galante is a great composer!
