Nope he has his own style. He doesn’t copy the Rev at all. Brooks is a legend in his own right. The guy has played with suicidal tendencies, infectious grooves and Bad religion.

I know it's fashionable for metalheads to hate on this band, but as someone who saw my share of gigs in the 1980s and grew up in the trash metal scene, I like this band and have profound respect for them. Their music has evolved, they are fine musicians, outstanding songwriters and deliver a bit of intelligence in their offering. I don't know WHY people hate them? Are they BRUTAL? Generally no. There are other bands for that. But what this band does is deliver outstanding heavy metal music with a nod to everything from Guns N roses to Slayer. These kids learned from some good reference points...and the songs they write are absolutely good songs. Everything from Chapter 4 to this song...an excellent band, one of the very few remaining keeping the metal flag flying among the main.

I totally agree. I have never understood that backlash they receive. If you know metal, then there is no denying that A7X is as metal as it gets. Maybe not your breed of metal, but metal know doubt. They have a little bit of everything. Great band. Most people are just posers or elitist who don’t know what they are talking about, or are just really closed minded. Look at Queensryche, I love them, but many metal head don’t. Operation Mindcrime was my childhood. (I’m on my daughters name. I’m a 33yr old male though.) lol

Their first ever album was Sounding The 7th Trumpet.. A direct reference to Revelations and the Apacolypse.. Beast And The Harlot is them literally quoting Bible verses word for word, turned into a song... Yes. They are heavily influenced by the Bible and have been since day 1. Anyone with 2 brain cells can make that connection. No offense. It's just blatantly in their music. Every single album they have ever made has religious ideaology and references.. 🤷♂️

14 years here. I remember walking to my neighbors and him having darkness surrounding playing then seeing A7X on Madden 04 then again on Madden 06. Jamming out to city of evil every day! I have always loved these guys and it's awesome to see them still going strong.

I’m 32yrs old and just now fully understanding the greatness and depth of this band. I know a lot of hardcore AX7 fans didn’t think “The Stage” was a good album, but I’m in love with it. This song in particular.
The little classical guitar 30 second ditty 3/4 of the way through? That’s such a fun aspect to add to a very heavy guitar driven song. The main guitar riff has such a great bouncy rhythm to it. Then Shadows in the chorus with that catchy as fuck “God Dam” vocal riff. I could listen to that all day.
I’d love to hear Rick Beato do a “what makes this song great” about this tune. I’d love to hear him break down the greatness.
And the drumming is so fucking good. Those blasts beats on the same timing as the guitar is chugging, then the hi-hat speed runs he’s doing. His name is escaping me at the moment, but fuck does he knock it out of the park here. 👍

I've always felt like it was "cool" to claim that a bands earlier records were superior to their newer ones.....but there's no way around it; this is a well written song from top to bottom.
Avenged gets criticized in the metal community (mostly fans) for whatever reason. Regardless of how you feel (or claim to feel) about the Avenged, they really are incredibly talented.
Matt's voice is unreal. Gates fuckin shreds and REV was literally one of the best metal drummers of all time. Johnny and Zack can both play, as well.
On top of all that, they are one of the better live bands touring today.
That on top of each member of the band also contributes to vocals in numerous pieces. ON TOP OF THAT, their song writhing ability is absolutely top notch
City of Evil is the only one of their albums that I like more than The Stage. I really love City of Evil.

I overlooked it at first but it sounds cooler now than it did at release.
Its definitely great but not their best or most interesting. Their self titled was by far their most creative. No one can compete with the rev when it comes to song writing

I really wasn't feeling this album when I first got it, but over the past two years it's REALLY been growing on me.
