Love that fact that you have a couple 100 grand in fine timepieces and you’re humble enough to enjoy a more basic low budget piece in a high dollar environment. Very cool
The Seiko is a work of art and in that respect superior to the Rolex which in all honesty is as classy as a rat with a gold tooth. As watches are the worst long term investments just buy them because you personally like wearing them as works of art
@@keithrjoseph9528 work of art?! Just got me a LE Alpinist and for a thousand bucks I got a nice dial with a wobbly compass. This is poor quality that should have cost max 200. Not a fan of Rolex but at least their quality is good.
I feel like your vids get closest to the essence of the romance and dreams of horology and the beauty of desiring and owning watches and how time is transcendent like the places you visit and the music you use to soundtrack it all and we try to apprehend time in mechanical and beautiful symmetry with a watch that is a piece of art
The lyrical choice of music is nice, The Moldau by Smetana, though thematically odd since the Moldau is a lowlands river in the Czech Republic, and your location is in the high Alps.
Feel the same. This guy gets it. These things we admire, these beautiful and functional watches, are examples of when humans are doing good, when great technology meets great art, and how that makes us feel about the world we live in.
Dear god, man! The quality of this channel is outstanding! Great watch content wrapped inside a cinematic, approachable and mature presentation. By far the highest quality watch channel on YT.
@@wagsbass I gave up on that ignorant man-child a long time ago. As an adult, I can't respect a "man" who whines about how hard life is and blames everyone else for his situation. We all have what we have because we do what we do.
Sorry Rick Steves, I'll be watching The "Traveling Watch Channel" from here on out. Keep making these and I have found a truly binge worthy channel. Incredible video.

Then you should check out my other vids in Venice, Siena, Bassano & Padova. Thanks for watching!
I don't know how, but I completely missed your daughter the first time I watched this. I'm considering picking up an alpinist, and figured I would give this another look beforehand. Love that ending!
You and your daughter have earned my like and sub, and i don't dish'em out often. Her filming skills are great, and the fact you guys use eachother's hobbies and interests to create something and,at the same time, spend quality father/daughter time together that's just heartwarming. Best of luck for you both.
I said it once and I say it again. It is a pleasure to watch and you don't dissapoint with humour! Hope you're by now feeling better, with this said Cheers from germany
Wow - what a great channel. I've been watching for a few months now. I never comment on RUclips channels but hey, it's time! I'm a watch guy, but I also LOVE Italy. You capture both and I that's part of the draw for me ... oh + wine and music! I'm making my 5th and 6th trip to Italy in April and September of this year ... just started going in 2016. Cant get enough. September's trip starts in Cortina d'Ampezzo! We are doing 7 days hiking through the dolomites before coming back down into civilization for another week in northern Italy. Unfortunately, I cannot buy a watch on this trip, but I did buy one in 2017 & 2019 ... both on the Ponte Vecchio in Firenze. Great memories captured in time pieces to be cherished. Keep putting up the content and we'll all come along for the ride.
Having just gotten into watches and binging non-stop the last 6 months....I think you are the first person to actually explain proper use of that "compass"....thanks
Very enjoyable film. As a BBC self shooting director I do a lot of this and your production value and creative design is excellent. I do hope your daughter stays with it too. Best Gabe
Two years ago you introduced me to the Seiko Alpinist with this video. I couldn't stop thinking about it and half a year later I bought it for myself as a graduation present. I absolutely adore it, thank you so much!
What achingly beautiful scenery. As someone that grew up in Europe and the US I hope to God I do not just grow old and never be able to return back home to Europe. Your videos bring me back home. Keep up the good work!
People says they buy a good quality watch to be able to handover to his next generation and you have handed over your channel to your next generation!!! Congratulations... I must say she has a good career in RUclips. It was one of your best combinations of amazing location, excellent filming and incredible orchestra. Truly mind blowing.
I am so WOW'd with the video. You pulled it so beautiful for a Seiko Sarb. Really excellent video production . Not everybody can come up with your effect. I like it when you daughter sneaks at the end. Very cool spoof ! Hahaha I was drinking coffee 6:00am watching your video. Nice way to start my day. Cheers
Spent many times hear skiing with my daughter years ago absolutely love this place. Keep up the good work fantastic video doesn't get anymore refined than this. Pure class.
These video's are the best. I poured a cab sab, wound my SARB017 for the viewing. I live in Houston and this reminded me of what I am missing of my home, skiing in Alberta.
As a great wine and watch lover I enjoy your beautiful videos much! Always a perfect composition of music, landscapes and of course watches. Grande complimento...

Thanks Markus!! New one dropping in the next couple of days!
Thoroughly enjoy everything about your videos, music and scenery are masterful, stories genuine and fun, and your thoughts on the watches always interesting and informative. You obviously enjoy making these vids, as so many others have said- they are truly art.
Stunning place, production quality and let's not forget the watch. What a beauty! Cool that you visit this place together with your daughter. Sláinte mhaith!
We aren’t getting watch reviews here. Well, we are, but more importantly. We are getting fucking ART! This is beautiful, man. This is why your channel stands out FAR above the rest. Top o’ the World, O’Malley!
Finally got around to watching this one. I’ve seen so many comments last couple years about “the Alpinist” video being their favorite. I’m about half way through and see what all the hype was about. Simply stunning. The music, the scenery… I’m just immersed.
Yeah Lidia!!!! Your famous now! Love the ending....thank your mum for telling me about this....by the way, I was there that weekend as well! Heading back this weekend!!!! Lovely place...(Piper's dad).
I loved this video review for several reasons. The opening and closing of the video used the opening of Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky, one of my favorite numbers. The reviewer also put in significant effort to show context of the types of settings the watch can blend in to. I also really like shots of the watch at the ends with various backgrounds. In particular, the one that had the watch sitting on the snow with the Alps in the back reminded me of that part in Lord of the Rings when Frodo dropped the Ring as they were going over the Pass of Caradhras, and right before Boromir picked it up, it laid there on the snow, very similar to how the watch was displayed in one of these shots. The review reminded me of these sorts of things to the point that now I have to have this watch. Seiko should pay you for this review. It overall at minimum was well done and I really enjoyed it. Keep making these videos.
Thanks for this beautifully put together review of the Alpinist. The mountain town of Cortina reminds me of the Ford Cortina of the early-mid sixty's when I was barely a teenager which was the years that I started to become aware of watch brands the likes of Omega, Rado, Enica, Cyma, Tudor, Rolex, Seiko and Orient. The setting of the Cortina mountains reminds me of my days in the Province of Alberta in western Canada. The Towns of Canmore, Banff and Jasper. The blue sky and beautiful white-capped mountain tops and passes. Simply breathtaking... Thanks again for putting together this wonderful and classy video. Many thanks to your daughter as well for her contribution.
So glad I finally got around to watching this beautiful video. Kudos to your daughter the budding cinematographer! Makes me want to take my SARB017 out for a hike!

Beautiful shots of Cortina. Stunning mountains and scenery. Would love to get over there some time. Nice watch too. You are so fortunate to be able to get away to this breath taking place.
Your opening sequences are truly inspiring to own a luxury watch, you carry us even further into your videos to share your experience in purchasing a time piece with not a hint of boastfulness but appreciation in your choice of purchase and scenery to match is outstanding, truly makes me want to purchase my first luxury watch in Italy (Rolex) Venice would be my choice as for a few years my family and I always stayed at the San Clemente Palace Hotel on its own Island with their own luxury wooden boats ferrying guests to and fro from St Marks Square, nothing can beat the memories of going past The Cipriani Hotel in the evening and then seeing Venice lit up in the darkness ahead. What a beautiful city and scenery. The watch is striking! I love how thick it is which makes a very bold statement. The ending was hilarious!
