I find it so healing to hear Jasmine talking and playing the flute. She is just so gentle and sweeet. Plz make more of these. I am sure this defienitely could inspire a lot of ppl. Thank sooooo much for making this. 🥰❤Love Ray💞💞💞
This was so cool to hear your perspectives on how each instrument approaches the piece with their own strengths and challenges. Definitely more of this series please! 👏✨
The word devilish is sooo appropriate for this piece 😅😅 i literally see Paganini playing like 'yeah people i sold my soul to devil to do this'. and the flute version is more like an evil fawn
Hearing this piece played with a flute is amazing! It has such a mysterious, mischievous -- impish -- sound! Devilish in a different way. Love it. And Jasmine is so sweet & lovely. Thanks for the vid, guys!
I love the way they vibe off each other. The joy that comes with being curious and open, and then finding something that lights up your synapses is something that I wish was more prevalent, and that more people experienced.
I love you both. I did the caprice 24 on the recorder 2 weeks ago for my final recital. Jasmine video motivated me to learn it and I adapted it for the recorder from her flute version
SO INSPIRATIONAL... every instrumentalist can gain insight and understanding from listening to other instruments playing the same piece.... especially when MAESTROS play them.
@@imchillingbro It's my opinion and there's nothing you can do to change my mind. I never said that the flute is better than the violin, I just said that I prefer the flute. Everyone has their own taste and should be respected
when you said "It litterally only takes 1 person" it reminded me some years back when i first saw someone on a dirt bike doing a backflip. Nowadays you see people on regular bikes, dirtbikes and even skateboards doing a backflip. it just takes that 1 sheep. its awesome to see.
Very nice. I never heard it on the flute before, it was not the way I had imagined it would sound at all. Thanks to you both for an entertaining and educational video.
VIOLIN GANG!!!🙋🏻♀️🎻 The violin is the og but I gotta say that the flute gave it a really good run and give the caprice a different more mischievous feel
Both of you are so beautiful playing with your instrument I would never get t😊idea of battling - prefer to love the character of each and diversity in beauty they are bringing to life . Interesting though to get an idea of how clever the notation of a piece can be adapted to the specialty of your instruments by the playing one, tricky and long way of practicing to do that with confidence. You both are souvereign maestros ❤ love you and thank you 🎉
Thanks for this video! Very very impressed by both of you. Would you make the next episode with Mendelssohn violin concerto? Because I love Jasmine playing this 🩶
Would love to see Ray, Jasmine and TwoSet discuss the Mendelssohn concerto. The different perspectives of learning and performing the piece would be an interesting video.
Love this series with my 2 favorite instruments! First time I heard Jasmine play the caprice, my brain exploded. To hear that her flute version has become standard repertoire for flutist is just amazing!
Please, make a video on what and what you passed through in your violin beginner/intermediate/advanced level which was very helpful in one way or the other.
I play neither .. but I wanted to learn the flute since I was 12 ... and comes and goes since older the want to learn violin and I am on some KICK about it this week .. and now most certainly addicted to your vids as well ... so aawesome to see my two faves together
Really interesting to see repertoire exchange discussion, and altering of the octaves. Jean Pierre Rampal approached Khachaturian to write a flute concerto, he responded "lol just arrange my violin concerto" and encouraged Rampal. He did the arrangement and played it on the lower register. My teacher later arranged it one octave higher because the flute's lower registers are so hard to project in front of an orchestra (I assume, I never asked..). P.S: She isn't doing it without spitting everywhere, she's quite literally spitting into the flute at times! Controlled spitting is how you play this wonderful tube :)
You should do this type of video with Chris Thile - virtuoso mandolinist. In the “classical” sector he plays Baroque (Bach) and has translated the works for mandolin! (Tuned the same but obviously played much much differently) that would be SO cool. He’s not a RUclipsr but he does love to collaborate with any and every artist and I mean that. Quirky & virtuosic! Would be a fun video.
Ray: pulls up International edition Partnership with Henle: 👀 In all seriousness though, I really appreciate this series of flute and violin! I've played strings, winds, and piano, so it's fun to hear professionals talking about the specifics of their different instruments with each other.
Amazing! I noticed Jasmine played with crossed legs. My music directors & instructors taught us to always have our feet flat on the floor because crossing legs while playing could put you at risk for hernias. 😮
love you both's videos and have been playing the recorder for two years wishing for a flute. the flute is the best instrument, hoping to get one someday, they just cost so much.😥
You can get a student flute for 100 dollars. I mean, they are not good at all, but they'll do for a beginner. I have a student whose family can't afford a good flute and I charge very little for the lessons so she can play and learn. It is not ideal, but better than not playing at all.
I think that Jasmine is using her flute with the diamond in the end to play today. I am always partial to the violin and especiallywhen Ray is playing, but I love listening to any music with any instrument. This takes me back to high school band when we would have dueling instruments especially when we had days that everyone competing for best in their show for competing state finals and scholarships.
I still think neither is devillish, but these were some nicely polished horns, Ray. - Some goats are definitely envying you now! 😉 Flute has a totally different attack than violin and does sound heavenly most of the time. But I prefer violin's versatility - it can sound heavenly too, if one knows how - and intends - to make it sound like that. 😄 As always, videos with you two are a pleasure to watch. 💞
For me knowing that Paganini is the father of the modern violin I was team violin all the way, however hearing Paganini on the flute I'm really not sure anymore. Not only is her playing lovely but she is too...I'm feeling really conflicted right now.😂
RECORDER GANG!!! haha. i wish i can play Paganini caprices one day. i play the violin too but i've started too old (age 30+) to reach paganini-level on it, so at least on the recorder i will someday!
Btw as a flute player this is definitely possible but like I think she made it sound a lot easier than is on flute. I don’t know that much violín so idk how hard it is for them but it is definitely challenging on flute
Hey Ray! You should look up Warren Ellis. He is an Australian violinist who plays in Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and in Dirty Three. I would like to see your opinion on his style of playing the violin.
Ray: yea I think this part isn't that hard Jasmine: yea even for the flute isn't that hard too Me: (from 3years in the future learning the same piece🤧)no comment 11:41
You're both great musicians who have mastered your respective instrument. But I think the piece is more difficult for the flute 'coz it was not composed by Paganini for that instrument. But I was waiting for you guys to play the entire piece. Anyway, I enjoyed this video so much.
I’m also gonna start doing that cus originally I wanted to do orchestra but I got eignende up for band so I’m doing flute then violin classes on the side
If you want to get better at performing in front of people, then you have to practice in front of people. Makes sense right? Try practicing in a public studio on Tonic: tonicmusic.app/practice-together 🎵
Sure, and how can I use tonic right to get ‚fron-of-people‘ then, I am not a digital native and need support, I am afraid! Hope makes sense.
Please, make a video on what and what you passed through in your violin beginner/intermediate/advanced level which was very helpful in one way or the other.
I am in tonic before, but because I forgot my password so I need to be a new member 😭😭😭😭
I followed you and Jasmine Choi ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love you guys so much ❤ you guys are so talented 💝💝💝
Ahhh I’m actually performing this piece tomorrow in NYC! Now I got more ideas and fresh perspectives😊
Good luck!
Good Luck:)
Good luck!

Yay! Gl!

Super happy it's Jasmine that represents flutes here, she always kills it
This was so cool to hear your perspectives on how each instrument approaches the piece with their own strengths and challenges.
Definitely more of this series please! 👏✨
OMG IM A HUGE FAN❤❤❤
The word devilish is sooo appropriate for this piece 😅😅 i literally see Paganini playing like 'yeah people i sold my soul to devil to do this'. and the flute version is more like an evil fawn
She is wonderful. I'm so impressed that you have her on to add depth to both perspectives of the music. Thank you, Ray and Ms. Choi.
Hearing this piece played with a flute is amazing! It has such a mysterious, mischievous -- impish -- sound! Devilish in a different way. Love it. And Jasmine is so sweet & lovely. Thanks for the vid, guys!
22 minutes of Ray being in awe
Yes he's nervous... i think he is also in awe of the flute playing...
Real tho
Even though the video only has 20 minutes 50 seconds 😂😂😂😂
@@KV-wd5gt10 seconds of awe got edited out..
@@susanbryant6516so 21 mins?
Now i wanna hear it as a duet, where they both play the same variation at the same time. that would be a super intense duet
samee, that would be so cool.
I love the way they vibe off each other. The joy that comes with being curious and open, and then finding something that lights up your synapses is something that I wish was more prevalent, and that more people experienced.
I'm amazed by the mind-blowing articulation of the flute with this piece! Also this piece sounds like a perfect fit to Ray's playing style~
I love the recent series with Jasmine Choi! Please keep it up!
Really enjoy these collaborations with Jasmine and flute. Thanks Ray and Jasmine.
He broke his E String AGAIN at the concert exceptional recovery!
I love you both. I did the caprice 24 on the recorder 2 weeks ago for my final recital. Jasmine video motivated me to learn it and I adapted it for the recorder from her flute version
Violin gang!!!😂 (but i also love flues and flautists, and Jasmine ofc she sounds so angelic 👼🪽)
SO INSPIRATIONAL... every instrumentalist can gain insight and understanding from listening to other instruments playing the same piece.... especially when MAESTROS play them.
The collaborative feel, of how you two were bouncing of each other, was absolutely brilliant! 🎶🎵
FLUTE GAAANG!! For me, the Jasmine's caprice 24 version is the best flute version ☺❤
paganini did not make a deal with the devil just for someone to say bros piece is best played with a flute
@@imchillingbro It's my opinion and there's nothing you can do to change my mind. I never said that the flute is better than the violin, I just said that I prefer the flute. Everyone has their own taste and should be respected
Kkkkkkkkkkk sou sim. Assistidora do Ray e de Twoset Violin, lógico kkkkk
@Allvruhseu assisto os vídeos da Jasmine. Conheci esse canal por causa dos videos do canal dela.

It's a pleasure to listen to you both! Each instrument has its own charm....The flute is "warm and sweet"....and the violin is "bouncy and spicy"🙃🙂
Yes, the flute is definitely more angelic.
It was fun watching you two groove off each other. Her playing is spectacular.
Always love to see you two chat together! It's interesting and inspiring.
Both instruments are wonderful! You cannot compare!!!
Greetings from a Classical-Tenor-Violist,

Such a pleasure to hear Ray play the violin, great sound.
Oooooh the goosebumps and the tickles I felt while watching the whole video was so strong!!! more of this please!!!!!
Nothing beats the violin for Paganini, but man, that flute was beautiful.
cheers to both of you!! Love hearing you play Jasmine Choi and Ray Chen!! :)
Both of you are really amazing! Congrats

Fantastic team I like very much ...yessss from Perú
Damn they're so good how I wish I can play any of those instruments....I'm from Philippines and I'm a fan of sir raychen...
The flute saound so good. Its so good to listen

I'm going to guess that that's your Strad... because it sounds phenomenal. Beautiful tone. (And yes, the player makes the violin sing.)
I like you both with huge respect violin is most harder instrument for playing ,but she is GOD gift that emotion we feel true evry tone is so clean 😊
La flauta suena increíble!!. 😮😮
And now I need both of you to play this together please 🙏🥺
One of my favorite pieces❤❤
you should do a future video about this same piece, but on the piano, like violin vs piano.
Btw as a flute player this is definitely possible but like I think she made it sound a lot easier than is on flute. I don’t know that much violín so idk how hard it is for them but it is definitely challenging on flute
Lol remember this is the person who was 'comfortable' fluttering Flight of the Bumblebee at 220 bpm 😂😂
How fun THAT was!
Bravo ,what a glorious challenge 🎉

You should look up Warren Ellis. He is an Australian violinist who plays in Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and in Dirty Three. I would like to see your opinion on his style of playing the violin.
@RayChenViolinist I’m going to your concert on Friday, I can’t wait for your performance!
I’ve always been a violin person ever since I was a kid.
Beautiful both of you .very nice ❤
i play clarinet, used to play the flute. does anyone else here love TwoSetViolin?
Even though I play the flute, I actually like both the flute and the violin.
Violin gannnnnggg lessgo 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Ray dw ur winning for sure ❤
Ray: yea I think this part isn't that hard
Jasmine: yea even for the flute isn't that hard too

I'd like to listen to these two masters playing the Prokofiev flute sonata (it has a violin version)
love this video so much!! it would be fun to see you two try to play each others instruments too??
i always skip the Tonic ads just because i can!
Super fun video! ❤
To this day, I still cannot do the left-hand pizzicato! Ray, can you please do a tutorial video on this?

Both so lovely, both so Force of Good!!!💕💕
When's the duet version of Paganini Caprice no. 24 featuring you two coming out?
love seeing you
I also love her mendelsshon's performance❤️💯
Parece uma deusa tocando flauta. Som incrível
No big deal she just re wrote it to suit the Flute! amazing!
You're both great musicians who have mastered your respective instrument. But I think the piece is more difficult for the flute 'coz it was not composed by Paganini for that instrument. But I was waiting for you guys to play the entire piece. Anyway, I enjoyed this video so much.
The flute is closest to the human voice. Its virtuosic, but has limitations because of how its built.
Two Ling lings in the same room is mind blowing 🤯
I play flute and violin
