I have the iPad Pro and I use notability as well for school. I’m a nursing student! Thought I would mention that with the microphone icon on notability, you can record lecture and when you play them back later you can watch your notes being written in real time with the lecture! My iPad was the best purchase I’ve made for my schooling so far. Definitely makes note taking more convenient and way more fun!
Haley Hart would an iPad Pro be better than having a MacBook?
Hsauce I have both and I can honestly say that once I got my iPad I didn’t even bring my MacBook to school with me. I would only use it when a teacher wanted something typed, or if I wanted something to be typed. You could easily get the keyboard that comes with it and you wouldn’t even need a MacBook! Definitely go with the Pro though. I can’t speak for other iPads. I’ve only ever had the pro and I’m not sure the difference in capability between the two.

May I ask what year is your iPad pro? Does every iPad come with the microphone feature that allows you to record the lectures?
What size did you use? I’m afraid the 12.9 will be too big and 10.5 too small for multitasking (ie reading my books and taking notes)
I'm a college professor and will share this video with my students. Much of what you talk about here applies to taking notes on paper, and I very much appreciated your discussion of the benefits of writing notes over typing them.
While I teach economics & research methods, I'm increasingly including lessons & activities to help students learn strong learning skills, like how to evaluate the quality of information on the internet.
I've been thinking I should put together lessons on effective note-taking skills, for my intro-level courses, and watching your video has sealed the deal. Starting this fall, I'm definitely doing this.
Regarding the cost of an iPad for college students: I'm very sensitive to costs and always take them into account when deciding what textbooks to assign and whether there are quality free materials students can use instead of paid ones. I will certainly teach note-taking skills for written notes on paper. But the cost of a base model current generation 10.2" iPad is typically around $300 USD, and they can often be found on sale for $250 or so. That is totally worth it for a tool that will be invaluable in almost every course for four years of college. That's less than the cost of a parking permit at some universities. Of course, even $250 is beyond the reach of many students from low-income families, and they should have the opportunities that people like me who were lucky enough to be born into middle- and upper-middle income families have enjoyed. I'm working with other teachers & a few administrators at my college to find ways to get an iPad into the hands of every student that could benefit from one but can't afford it.

Tips to get iPads for cheap
1. Apple has 20% student/teacher/education worker discount.
2. Apple sells refurbished iPads (with new outer-casings) for dirt cheap. Ik refurbished doesn’t sound that good but trust me apple has high standards and the products are as good as new.
3. Buy from certified third parties e.g Amazon.

I regularly play yt videos on anywhere from 1.5 to 2.0 and this time i chose 1.75 and i wouldn't notice that he is particularly fast if i didn't see the comments. You guys just don't have iq high enough for that but you can always adjust for your needs to 0.75 or even 0.5.

I am 60, not in medical school but I am a president of a self managed HOA. I have learned on the fly how to run the HOA. Taking some courses and classes offered by HOA attorneys. I have moved to iPad Pro and use Notability. There is just no way I count not have taken the notes I needed with out this combo. That and having the audiobook recording syncing with the written or typed notes. It is incredible. I type notes, use the pen and draw notes and add pictures to the notes. I have to say if you tried this combo iPad and Notability and really spent 23 mins and 30 seconds to learn how to use the Notability app you will see why it is liked and used.

NRM It is closer to A4 in size. Recently downloaded Notability so still a novice on all its features/functions. That being said, I love how I can also record lectures.

krittika sharma I just bought the iPad Pro 12.9 1TB for my Doctorate, but I am going to sell it and have the Galaxy Pad S5 as fast as it is out on the market. IOS is to limiting. My next PC will be the Dell XPS 13 2 in 1 with 32GB ram and i7 1065 Ice Lake (now it is a ThinkPad X1 Carbon that is amazing to type on).

Hello from Texas, USA! I found your channel with this video. I’m looking to upgrade my iPad and wanted to see all the features I could have available with different iPad companion pieces. I really enjoyed the pace of the video & how well thought out & succinct it was. I get frustrated easily with RUclipsrs that end up repeating the same things over and over because they haven’t thought out what they want to say. Plus the fact that I could understand you with your accent & pace was amazing. I am so horrible at understanding English spoken with foreign accents- at least foreign to me ;) I think hearing such strong southern USA accents all my life has damaged some accent translation center in my brain! Good luck with finishing medical school & I wish you blessings in your career!!

To people who grew up with PCs and cellphones and all it seems so mundane... But mere 15 years ago reading a book in a tablet while making notes on it were Star Trek level ideas.
100 years ago they said "What a time to be alive". And a hundred years before that. etc...

Great video! There’s other useful note-taking functionality that you left out. The scissors allow you to select anything you’ve written, move or resize it, and/or convert to text. The zoom box is also great if you need to write in smaller areas when annotating pdf’s.

I had the 9.7 inch IPad Pro and thought it was too small. So later got the iPad Pro 12.9inch. It’s the exact same size as an A4 paper. It’s so much better than a 10.5 inch, but it’s a little bit of a hassle to carry.
Interesting that you pointed out the "hassle" in carrying it. Im in this situation of whether I want to go for the 12.9 inch or not. :\
I also have the 12.9“ iPad Pro and I have zero issues with carrying it. It fits in every bag I use, it‘s not very heavy (much lighter than any book) and the A4 format is pretty common and familiar (at least in Europe) so I‘m totally used to it. For me it is the perfect size. A buddy of mine has the 10.5“ iPad but for me it‘d be too small. Writing, reading, watching videos, playing games and surfing the net on a 12.9“ screen that is as excellent as the one on the iPad Pro is just a one of a kind experience.
Currently I have the 10.5 but want to switch later this year when the new iPads will be released. They probably have nearly zero frame

Thank you, I usually find myself carrying tons of paper with my notes, they weight more than my MbPro so this really helps.

Great video, love your presentation style. Another advantage for the pro is the keyboard support. Yes, you are talking about handwritten note taking, but if you have the keyboard it would potentially eliminate the need for a desktop computer or laptop (e.g. essay writing).

I wasn't sure which would be more effective getting an iPad along with keyboard and pen, sticking with my MacBook, or hand writing my notes but all ur points make sense so I've decided on an iPad and Apple Pencil.
