Great update ! I believe the saying " all in a lifetime " captures your issues. As Chief Dan George once famously said " We will endeavor to Persevere".....lol. Thanks.
Excellent video!! Your attention to detail is top notch and your DMV saga is so, so typical. Lol!! Keep up the great work, love the quality of your 55 Chevy!! Cheers!! 😎
All I hear is sorry it is because of Covid; however, with enough money, it's amazing how things get done today. Also found out years ago. The chrome oil pan and timing cover seemed to always leak oil. On the stock cover, there is a sling plate that helps keeps it from leaking.
Yeah it seems everything takes a bit longer now. I think the timing cover was the issue, so hopefully we are good to go now. Wonder how much horsepower I lost by removing the chrome... Thanks for watching.
Black looks good on most everything, and a black '55 is badass for sure. Not sure my bodywork and painting skills are up for that task though. Thanks for watching.
@@MontanaGarage I Drove 18 Wheeler From the time I was 23 to I was 49, and I was in a wreck, couldn't pass the Physical Because of My Back Surgeries, and My D.I.S.H Aurthritus, I let my CDL Class A go, I hope when I get my car on the road , ive not had it on the Road since 1996. Good To Hear From you my friend ❗
Thanks man. I sure wish I woulda just bit the bullet and committed to going. It's just bad timing with projects I have going at work right now. Hopefully I make it to meet some of you gyus soon!
Nice work on the repair. The work done so far looks great. Videos happen when they will happen. Life does get in the way. Painful story about your title/registration. I know people who have gone thru similar pain up here in Ontario but never that much. Wow. Look forward to seeing more videos whenever they appear. Be safe and stay well.
At least there was only one of you . There is 3 of me in the town i live in . My liscense was suspended susposedly for no insurance and an accident that i never had . Took me 6 months and a lawyer to prove what went on .
Brad, I got the Dorman pan on my hardtop (1976 400 sbc) fit very well and so far no leaks. I use Felpro one piece pan gasket on all my small blocks. The bare metal looks cool man. I really dig it. I had a similar title issue 25 years ago. I too insured it. I got pulled over and they impounded the car. Found out the registered owner is the one that gets the car out of impound. Lol. He was cool about it though. With your 55 not in the system, I'd be very scared of public roads until it's legal.
Thanks man. I finally got the title issue resolved and never really drove it much before hand. Sounds like you had an interesting experience though. I am still getting a very small seep of oil at that pan/timing cover seal. Frustrating.
Krylon pumpkin orange is pretty close to Chevy Orange. Rustoleum has an orange that is pretty close too. I've used them as kind of a primer until I could get actual Chevy Orange. With road grime and heat changing the actual hue, you won't even notice.
I probably could have used just about anything, or even left it black. Guess it doesn't really matter under the car. It only took a day to get the right color, so it wasn't a big deal waiting. Thanks for watching.
It's been a battle, but I guess that is just part of the journey, especially when you are learning as you go like I am. Thanks for always watching man!👊
Go back to GM parts. All after market junk will leak. Like your yourself I learned the the hard way. If I can get original parts when possible I use them. Got tried of doing it 2 or 3 times.
Sounds like you have been very frustrated with DMV, oil leak and having to redo stuff. It it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have Any luck at all 😢 Just kidding Brad you'll get it sorted out. 👍
Buddy unpainted it looks tough as F@#K I like it, but its on you and what you want. I'm sick and tired of all these idiots who bag everything you do with you own car. As long as you are happy go for it. PS Aftermarket parts I've found to be crap. I got a chrome bell housing inspection plate with my 700R and flywheel cut groove just about straight threw it. Got a genuine GM one and no problems. Too much crap out there at the moment. Keep up the good work and wife says give moose a cuddle for her.
Dude, you over complicated the entire title thing. I don’t understand how your buddy can’t just sign the title and sell it to you for a buck and be done with it. I like the bare metal, looks sweet. This car is never going to be done, its a work in progress and it’s a driver. Take it to the shows, events and the meets and start having fun from all your hard work. I’m not trying to call you out but you just needed to get off the crapper.
Wish it was that easy. There is no place to re-assign a Montana Title unless you're a dealer. So, he would have to apply for the title, wait.... then sign it over to me. Supposedly the route we went is faster, but still waiting. I plan on doing all the things you suggest. Problem is I'm not on the crapper, I'm at work all the freaking time so it's hard to make a lot of progress. I am super happy with the progress I've made, and I am starting to enjoy the car more. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for some of the stuff I do with the car.
Brad I think I know why your mojo is so bad. It's another year and you still haven't insulated the garage and the Gods are punishing you for it. You really need to stick a fork in it and insulate it so you won't freeze to death out there this winter. Sorry I keep nagging you every year. Good luck with the Ol '55.
Man I was just thinking about that dang insulation project. I do have some big plans for over the winter, so I SHOUL try and get that done. It is on the list of shit I need to do, but dang that list is long so not sure I'm going to get to it. Thanks for the push though...
Dealing with the DMV is the Worst! I am glad that you got it all figured out.
True that. Still waiting on the title, so hopefully that all works out. Thanks again for watching!
Great update ! I believe the saying " all in a lifetime " captures your issues. As Chief Dan George once famously said " We will endeavor to Persevere".....lol. Thanks.
Thanks man. I will keep on keepin' on!
Excellent video!! Your attention to detail is top notch and your DMV saga is so, so typical. Lol!! Keep up the great work, love the quality of your 55 Chevy!! Cheers!! 😎
Thanks man. Much appreciated!
Wow, awesome video on that crappy timing cover.
I’ll be looking at my engines for that same problem. I’ve never seen that before..great job !
Thanks man!
That Chevrolet timing chain cover looks great.
I dig it too! To bad the water pump hides most of it. Thanks for watching.
It’s cool if you like it bare that’s what matters 😅
Thank man. I like it this way for now, not sure it'll stay forever.
All I hear is sorry it is because of Covid; however, with enough money, it's amazing how things get done today.

The car looks badass.i am seeing the blackest of black paint you can find.
Black looks good on most everything, and a black '55 is badass for sure. Not sure my bodywork and painting skills are up for that task though. Thanks for watching.
I am hoping it all comes together soon for you.
Me too man. We are getting there.
I find if you sand the chrome between the gaskets it seals better but not every one likes chrome 😅
Did that....
I Know How You Feel Brad! Keep Up The Great Work My Friend ❗
Thanks Gary. I'm trying over here!

Sorry I missed your live. Car is looking fantastic and sounds good Brad. I am really digging the bare metal with the chrome you have on it. 👍😎✌️
Thanks Kevin I dig it too!
Nice to see you again brad ,hopefully you got the oil leak fixed… hopefully that will be it … I think it sounds really good…
Thanks David. So far so good on the oil leak. On to bigger and better things now.
No leaks, cool! Win for the home team!
Finally...
Dang brother that's a wrestling match on the paperwork but no Chevy orange... turrible! lol
The Mob's gonna miss ya at the Nats!
Thanks man. I sure wish I woulda just bit the bullet and committed to going. It's just bad timing with projects I have going at work right now. Hopefully I make it to meet some of you gyus soon!
Keep up the good work.
Thanks Doug I appreciate that.

Thanks as always Brian.
I really like the no-paint idea, hope you can make the drags!
Thanks Keith I hope so too.
Your 55 looks awesome!!!!!
I appreciate that!
At least there was only one of you . There is 3 of me in the town i live in . My liscense was suspended susposedly for no insurance and an accident that i never had . Took me 6 months and a lawyer to prove what went on .
Bummer man! Thanks for watching.
LOOKS SUPER SIK and SOUNDS SUPER SIK 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 HELL YEAH
Super SIK indeed! Thanks man!

Brad it's looking badass, always loved the bare metal looks!
Oil creep is terrible gremlin.
Thanks Carmelo!

Well that stinks you would think that the car was fighting with you 😅
It's been a battle, but I guess that is just part of the journey, especially when you are learning as you go like I am. Thanks for always watching man!👊
Dang Brad crazy stuff going on for sure, But let's just say the Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ going to line up for u Bud, i hope 🤔👍✌️
Thanks Lonnie I hope so too!
I have used Shark Hide on some of my stuff, it works great.
Thanks for the info man!
As for the paint color. How about a 2 tone gray or a silver?
Tons of options for sure...
Who's going to crawl under that fine ride to look. For wrinkles in the great pan!!!
Haha probably just me I guess...
One piece pan gaskets are the only way to go.
That's what I've been using. I think the timing cover was the culprit, so hopefully we are all good now. Thanks for watching.
Put a one piece oil pan gasket work a lot better
That's what I'm using, three times now.... So far no leak this time around though. Thanks for watching!
👍🤞
👊👊👊
Use a small pair of needle nose vise grip pliers to hold your nuts
Yikes that sounds painful haha. Might work, but you kinda need the old feelers in there to get things lined up...
Go back to GM parts. All after market junk will leak. Like your yourself I learned the the hard way. If I can get original parts when possible I use them. Got tried of doing it 2 or 3 times.
Probably a good idea...
I Hate the DMV!😢
Me too. This time around was kinda my fault, but they sure are taking there sweet time getting me a new title. Still waiting...
Sounds like you have been very frustrated with DMV, oil leak and having to redo stuff. It it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have Any luck at all 😢 Just kidding Brad you'll get it sorted out. 👍

Thanks Johnny. I agree about the cheap parts. Moose has been cuddled for the wife!
Chrome engine parts never ever Seal...
Especially with me doing the sealing part... Thanks for watching!
What a problem child ..... Damn But you need to paint the car.
Thanks man. I am a problem that is for sure. Paint is way overrated...
