- The Sultan of Swing, the greatest left-armer in cricket history, the GOAT Wasim Akram joins Ahmer and Osman to discuss his favourite wickets and memories, his moral responsibility for making an an entire generation get the burger cut hairstyle, and what it was like bowling with Waqar, Imran and Shoaib.
Listen here: www.buzzsprout...
I was named after him, and i'm a sri lankan
Do you realise that he is the greatest bowler of all time and also the greatest cricketer of time
@@shujahmohammed9173 arguably, yes. I was born in 1986, and at that point, Wasim was only a newcomer.
@@wazimakram9302By 1988, he was considered a good player. In December 1988 , he bowled one particular ball to Viv Richards. He bowled a bouncer to Viv in Hobart. The ball was 155 kmph . The ball was so quick that Viv got nightmares after that . Wasim was one of those bowlers who had given Viv this feeling that he had to retire quickly.
@@shujahmohammed9173 i know..but imagine, naming me Wazim Akram in 1986...apparently, it was because Wasim was very handsome back then
I used to fear seeing Wasim bowling to Indian batsman ; pure aggression ; great inspiration ; love from India❤
Wasim Akram = magic
Allahs gift to Pakistan
Pride of Pakistan
Thank you Ahmer and Osman for this... Best Wasim Akram interview ever!
As someone born in 1990, I had the incredible privilege of growing up watching the legendary Wasim Akram in action. Witnessing his magical spells on the cricket field was a true spectacle. Undoubtedly, he stands as the greatest left arm fast bowler of all time! 🏏🔥Love you Wasim Bhai Stay Blessed Always
I think you haven’t seen enough of cricket. He is not the best left arm bowler. He is the best bowler in the last 150 years of cricket
I'M FROM INDIA 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 AND I CONSIDER HIM GREATEST CRICKETER OF ALL TIME
HE WAS MY FAVOURITE IN 90S.
I agree with you. He is the greatest cricketer of all time. However these jealous whites won’t agree . They won’t even confer him with knighthood. He should be Sir Wasim Akram by now.
14:27 'Too late now anyway, HAHAHAHA.'
I feel like i've been waiting about 30 years for this interview. Exceptional stuff, lads.
Indians too admire and love Wasim alot.. Respect 🙏
Waseem bhai is and will remain my God of 90s. ❤ Thank you guys for not asking the same repetitive stories from him.
God??
Are you a muslim?
Don't believe human to be a God
In love with Wasim Akram .. Great ambassador of the sport .. You have inspired a generation..
Great ambassador getting bought by India for $210k u forgot 1996
This was my first time watching a Wasim Akram interview and enjoyed every second of it
Thanks for asking the question Wasims peak.
The 88-89 season was definitely the one where he was consistently the fastest he had bowled. That peak stretched all the way upto the 1992-93 england test series and Australia tour.
I want to say 1997-99 as the years he had become an absolute grandmaster. And after that the Sri Lanka and West Indies test series in 2000 where had become a one man army. WASIM what a bowler, what a cricketer, what a man!
The greatest bowler and also the greatest cricketer of all time
The Greatest Fast Bowler with the Greats
How can you miss it
Wasim bhai has done 100s of interviews. And more often than not people ask him the same questions and you get to hear the same stories which is just lazy journalism. So hats off to you guys.
Then again didn’t expect anything less from you guys ;)
I was really surprised to hear Wasim say (around 35:00) that he didn't properly work on learning new ball bowling or outswing until 93-94. Which is indirectly saying that when he won the 92 World Cup or the England Test series soon after - by which point to everyone in the world he was already the full package, and then some - in his own mind he was still mainly an old ball bowler. That is insane to think about! Man has levels mortals can only dream of.
Great interview! Waqar next? 😉
Ball tamperer extraordinaire
goray keryn toa art desi keryn toa fart?
@@BattaFastforay Karen tobhi tampering hi karenge 😂,properly Reverse karao na 😂
@@vickyvirk4424apne dimagh ka ilaj Kara bhai
He is my favorite cricketer ever
Never can forget giving audition for Star sports role in front of him and Harsha Bhogle ( 2004) at Delhi
Had no camera phones then unfortunately
Oh interesting 🤔
What kind of audition you did for star sports??
He is the greatest cricketer ever
THIS WILL GO DOWN AS THE BEST MOMENTS OF PiPY SAGA
Just discovered this gem of a channel. Can’t wait for more great content from the legendary OS and AN. Listening to Wasim is always a pleasure. Just realized what a big game player he was… with the right captains later on we could have had another WC win and an Australian test series win but alas…. Thanks for the episode. Look forward to a lot more
Listening to Waseem Bhai is a treat in itself..legend ❤...he is sooo full of Witt and his sense of humour ... seriously we pakistanis are lucky and blessed to have legends like Waseem Bhai ❤
Actually wasim wanted to b the captain in 2003 as well cos he thought to be himself one and only who should be captain. Strange person.
N one thing i noticed in 2003 wc Wasim bowled well just untill he completed his 500 wicket. Best player wasim but sadly had ill feelings against others.
But i never heard or read from Waqar speaking against Wasim. I always heard from Waqar 'Wasim Bhai, Wasim Bhai
This is my new favorite cricket podcast. Thank you, gents and the RUclips algorithm! Wasim was my favorite cricketer from childhood. Osman is my favorite cricket writer, and I have long enjoyed Ahmer’s work and sense of humor. Cricket was a way to keep the connection with Pakistan for me as an American of Pakistani descent. Keep up the great work.
this is the most candid and light I saw him narrating bits of his career. loved it.
He is a very very fun loving guy .
As an Australian I loved watching Wasim play. I rate him as good as any bowler I've seen in my lifetime, absolute legend.
Wasim Bhai is like Thor of Cricket World 🌍 💪
Mashallah bhai! A terrific interview and I've enjoyed watching these with the increased video production and splicing of footage. 👏🏽👏🏽
I was around 10 in 2000-01 era when I used to watch the two Ws bowl, and it was almost always a done deal to have the opposition 2 or 3 down by the first 10 overs. Thank you for bringing the memories back.
Can we ever have a detailed interview about the 1999 final? That was and probably is the biggest heartbreak of our generation's childhood. Now that the sadness and the wounds have healed a bit, and the hair have started to grey a bit, can we have a light, gentle, fun oriented interview about that match to have better insights and lessons as a nation, and perhaps to heal a bit more?
Wasim Bhai India loves you. You were greatest bowler
Lovely episode, with Osman & Ahmer with the best possible guest...
Wonderful to be able to put face to the name - 'Osman Samiuddin' - have enjoyed reading his pieces over the years. Also, Wasim is a gem of a person - so brilliant, and with a killer sense of humour - must be great to hang out with in person.
Also, terrific feature adding those rare video clips while being discussed (saves us from googling hah). Thanks!
Chass Karwa ditti Yaar, one of his best Interviews! Plus WAseem Paeen da Interview howe te Punjaabiya da hassa na niklein...e kiwe Mumkin. Best part was ...131 wari OUT kita WI Team nu...Lolz
Love from Germany, coming from a fellow Lahori...
P.S.: Kudos for the excellent Editing adding those valuable moments as talked about that we as late 90s kids might never have watched ourselves...
ahh love this comment - yehi maqsad tha urdu mei baat kerne ka takay asli roop bahir aaye, angrezi mei kho jaata hai
One of the most candid and fun talk! Wasim Bhai has a great sense of humor.
Absolutely loved every bit of it. Have heard and seen Wasim bhai in so many interviews but this was way more personal and fun. Pure Lahori vibes :D Proud to be from the country which produced a legend like him ❤
Always a pleasure to hear Wasim Akram! A great ambassador of the sport, we love so dearly!
a cricketer for the ages, an ambassador for the sport, and the country. Pakistan are lucky to have Wasim!
What a great interview! Really loved those clips from the '87 WC and those county matches. Love from India🤗
Great episode! Wasim is so candid and colorful
The best fast bowler of all time. No doubts.
The best bowler of all time
What an amazing interview
Loved it
How calmly Waseem ,legend was giving the answers
Fantastic interview featuring a fantastic cricketer!
Bhai, the podcast is very well editted. You made a gem out of data, beautiful!
His brother use to bet on his deliveries specially no balls , if you remember wasim use to ball a lot of no balls. That was the vibe out side in people , that vibe became reality when his fellow players confirmed that wasim is involved in betting and if you can do betting match fixing is a big possibility.
I ended up watching the whole interview…. Lots of luv ❤️
That Zidane mention was so apt, if I can think of Zidane of the Cricketing world, it got to be Wasim.
amazing interview with the Great of cricket loved so much in India.
Grew up watchin legends like wasim waqar ..best bowlers of 90s
Great interview of the Great Wasim Akram!
only cricketer i would love to listen him again n again whenever he appear in any video or interview
What a great interview guys, Totally nailed it.
Awesome Interview. Buht achay sawal poche apne.
Achaaa.. tab hi the last one and a half episodes have been all Wasim Bhai Wasim Bhai 😆. Can't wait to listen to this!
One of the best interviews of all time really
Waqar not deserving a place in the team in 2003 WC is a shocking statement from a person of Wasims calibre:
Two years before the WC (2001 + 2002) Waqar was the highest wicket taker in the WORLD in ODIs.
Astonishing 93 wickets in just 57 matches, including 3 five wicket hauls. At an average of 24.3
Simply marvellous.
Talking about recent form, he was the 2nd highest wicket taker after Ntini in the ODI series right before the WC.
10 wickets in 5 matches.
In WC 2003 itself (in the matches excluding Namibia and Holland), Waqar got 6 wickets while Wasim and Shoaib both got only 4 each.
How on earth can Wasim say Waqar did not deserve a place in 2003 WC team.
Agreed!
buss talha bhai hosla kijye
@@BattaFast
😂
Sure brother..
The best interview of the legend
Wasim talking about bouncing Viv and yorking Ian Botham... is THE PHAINTAAA , THE DALERI Shaibi talks about!
Wasim bhaii is a certified GOAT .Still can't deny that he sold 99 WC . Maybe the rot went all the way to the top but he was still a part of it . Literally too many people can corroborate from that era.
Wasim was the man who made the team victorious in the 1992 World Cup. Be thankful for the 92 win to Wasim . 1999 ko bhul jao
Swing ka sultan wasim akram bhyi
❤, different interview and very excellent interview
It was fun. It's a treat to watch you both talk about cricket and that with Wasim Akram was just superb. Thora editing peh time spend kar laiN tu perfect ho jaay ga.
Your intro and outro>>> also loving the podcast. Need one with Shoaib Akhtar.
Amazing interview.
Wasim Akram, a living legend !! Huge respect for his skills. The only spot on his bright career would be match fixing.
Exceptional interview
Maza aa gaya
Great interview
UFFFF Loved this!!!!
Osman is awesome.
The middle guy resembles a lot like JAVED JAFFREY
Wasim bhai super cool as always. ❤
Wow !! Just brilliant (Y)
Legend
Love you Waseem Sir from India ❤
Would like to sea you in great WC 2023.
We indians don't call you Pakistani but Bhartiya.
We see those repetitive, frustrating, stupid ass questions from our journalists every single day. The way you conducted this interview is undeniably a breath of fresh air compared to those.
Half through it but have to say its a good interview.
great interview
Wasim bhai rocks ❤
Thank you so much Wasim Bhai for Everything you done for Pakistan ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ We Love You Wasim Bhai Hum aap ko Kabhi nai bhoolenge ♥️🙏♥️
My all time favorite player
Wasim akram was so talented at that if we lose against india , every one would say waseem akram sold out .
Change the title of show featuring Wasim from Batta Fast to *Satte-Baaz*
I was there at Lord's 1999 WC Final when Wasim sold his mother nation down the River Thames.
Just because you were there in Lord’s it doesn’t mean that waz fixed it . 😂
Wasim always felt jealousy from Waqar. Waqar was performing reasonably well since 2001 to 2003 n his speed was more than 140 n he was just 32 years old. While wasim sahib was 36 in 2003 though he was performing well. Actually can wasim tell why did he not include Waqar in playing 11 in 1999 WC. While he preffered new commers Razzaq n Azhar mehmood ? Can you imagine that. ? At least no comparison between Azhar mehmood and Waqar.
Living legend
bhai yeh outro daal do kahin as a separate song.
What a legend
Sir Wasim Akram!
Batta fast haha. Great name !
Sultan of swing
loved your shirt @ahmer
is junaid khan vs india 2012 series on the list for you guys!?
Let’s go!!
Why you have to put shoaib akhtar's photo on the logo as the name is Batta fast
Why did nt u talk about that Chennai test?
Jesus 😮he said wasim
He is not religious
Bhai guest ka face complete dikhana tha. Poor positioning. One of the best and my all time favorite person.
In logon ka face dikhna zarooori hai 😂😂😂

1999 team were the best team Pakistan ever had ......
Chalo, dono baatein sahi nikli.
Around the stumps supremacy & that he remembers the details.
Pehla wala toh observation hai Jo kaafi common hai.
Ahmer asks the best questions, out of syllabus not your run of the mill same ones
In Thumbnail picture waseem looks like juidence patient
The moment wasim said its done !! Cold !!! 🥶
Saqlain bhi unke sath mil gya. 2 runout!! 🤣 wasim bhai yar hahahah
Watched at 1.5x speed as i am in office. Wasim bhai sounded angry to be on this podcast. Koi phadda tu nai hai aap dono sy??😋😋
I dont buy that 99 was the best team. Batting was very weak and it was finally exposed in the final.
That was the best team they beat Australia in Australia in best of 3 after that final to prove that they were best but that was not their day.
@@umermaqsood3486 They beat australia in 2002 and world cup final was played in 1999, perhaps time for you to wakeup
@@Ron-pm3qk and australia have more strong teams then 1999.
99 team was the strongest pak team. Even Australia were scared of pak
