It takes a lot of courage to tell the world about your addiction. He is right, you tend to hide your dark side from people. Even a common man would hide it, let alone a world famous athlete. This man had all the money, fame and admiration in the world, he could have easily stayed quiet about it. But to still openly talk about his addiction deserves a lot of praise. Massive respect to Wasim Akram.
What I loved the most about this interview, how he mentioned every single person from first day of his cricketing career with the same respect as he has for the greats🎉 You gotta remember your roots and respect the people along the way.. Proud Pakistani 🇵🇰🤩🙏
Wasim Akram is such a charismatic personality. I have been a die hard fan of this man right from my childhood. Furthermore, he is equally loved and respected in India.. Lots of love to him and all my Pakistani brothers and sisters!! From India!! 💕🇮🇳💖💕
Wow! Just got to the bit where he speaks about his addiction...fucking awesome TGC for this sort of content, so much respect for Wasim Akram speaking honestly, especially coming from his background really takes courage...in my eyes he's twice the legend he would have ever been on the pitch for speaking truthfully about this. It will help so many people understand that it's a disease that doesn't discriminate. Well done TGC and thank you Akram for this.
Favourite ever player, what a legend. Knew cricket was different to soccer when I saw Wasim, Gower, and a few more top players in a charity game at a minor counties ground. All the players walked round chatting to the crowd, even as a kid I realised it would never happen in professional football, let alone with some of the worlds best players. Cricketers are among the most humble athletes. Can you imagine him in T20?!
As an addict myself, I have so much respect for the way he talked about his addiction problems with total honesty. The rehab didn’t work for him at first because he wasn’t doing it for himself. He was doing it to please other people. You can only stop it for yourself. Brilliant interview, one of the best I’ve ever heard and certainly the best on this channel. That’s saying something because there’s been some bloody good ones on here.
Here is the funny thing: Wasim is probably the greatest ODI bowler of all time, so his place in greatest ODI XI is confirmed without a doubt. As it goes for tests, Wasim actually underperformed (not surprised considering Pakistan’s fielding); so Wasim’s test stats don’t put him in the best ever category, there are at least 5 other test bowlers with better stats. But, if you look at former cricketer’s Greatest Test XI, Wasim is almost always included. I think someone did a comparison and Sachin was the most common name across all Greatest Test XI’s, and Wasim was the second person who showed up the most. Now for Wasim to not have the best stats in tests and to constantly show up the second most in these Greatest Test XI’s shows you how good Wasim really was, and that sometimes stats aren’t everything. Some of the greatest batsmen ever have said Wasim was the toughest bowler they ever faced; Brian Lara, Kallis, Ponting, Viv Richards, and surprisingly Sangakkara, who only played Wasim after Wasim turned 34.. way past his prime. So yea, to add to your comment; Wasim is the second player only after Sachin to be included in the most Greatest Test XI’s, considering there are bowlers with much better stats. Shows you how lethal he really was.
Salutations the absolute King of Swing, in my school in Chennai when they said which cricketer is their favorite I proudly said it was Wasim Akram that I would like to bowl like and emulate, great interview Aussie blokes, bring on more legends such as Mr. Wasim Akram
What a player! Watching chats with the likes of Great Wasim Akram, who were the heroes of our time brings back a lot of nostalgia. Love from Sri Lanka.
Wasim & McGrath were the only 2 bowlers which used to threaten us. We indians never worried about the spinners our pace bowlers coz majority of the times the bowler who could bowl good line & length won matches, and bowlers like Wasim , McGrath didn't just had control but also swing and smartness. Wasim is awesomely respected in India.
The greatest left armer and possibly the greatest fast bowler along with Waqar Younis that I have seen being an 80s kid, to have graced the beautiful sport that we all are still in awe of. My idol and in my opinion the greatest there ever will be, we will never have another.
Great job by the way, lads. You're absolutely smashing it lately with the T20 WC content, and the longform interviews of international cricketers. Absolutely love your work, and watch everything you do. Would be great if you could get a longer form interview with Wasim at some point, and go into even more depth about some of these issues. I'd love to know what he thought of the late 90s/early 2000s Aussie players, one by one.
What a legend! Loved the candid interview. Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis gave my childhood self nightmares during India-Pakistan matches. Sultans of swing, indeed! Love from India ❤
Growing up as an Indian, I wasn't a fan of him for obvious reasons. Over the years, I became a diehard fan of this legend. A pure class act in all aspects 🙏🏽

This was so intense, funny and so informative. Mr Wasim Akram sir, you're not just one of the best bowlers, but so inspiring to many. Thank you for opening up about your struggles to the world.
I've watched the game since 94 or 95. I've watched a lot of bowlers, Walsh, Ambrose, Donald, Cork, McGrath, Pollock, Vaas, Waqar, Wasim, Srinath, Ntini, Flintoff, Bond, Akhtar, Lee, Zaheer, Cummins, Anderson, Steyn and many more. If, I have to pick only two most dangerous bowlers in this list, then it is Akram and McGrath for me. Steyn comes a close third. Now, remember these are the most challenging bowlers in the last 25-30 years. Hands down - these two bowlers were very very threatening. When Wasim Akram bowled, he looked like he would take a wicket with every ball. And that too in those days, when batsmen were very cautious and were not playing rash shots. So, I'd say taking a wicket in those days was more difficult. It is sad to see the game has changed completely now. But, Wasim Akram was the most dangerous bowler that I've seen on television, his skill was out of the world. Love for Qasim from India, great cricketer and also seems like a great person. I remember when we were watching the 2003 world cup Ind vs Pak, we were very scared for Sachin to get out to Akram. Because everything would be the same and one ball will go out and the other will come in, he was a really difficult bowler for even great batsmen like Sachin, Lara and Ponting too. Nevertheless, cricket was great and was shining in glory when Wasim bowled. I just don't feel that the quality of cricket is the same post like 2010s...but those days of cricket was outstanding. May be there is more money now, but not sure if the quality is good still - not for me. And I don't like everybody knowing everybody and hugging and laughing after the game - you cannot laugh after losing the fxxking game with your opponent. Cricket is losing something important - cricket is losing the need for players like Dravid, Root, De Silva, etc. It is becoming a powerplay, which is very very sad. My guess is: in the next decade, cricket will lose the relevance for Test matches and it will lose the its soul. And what will be left is power players playing for money. But, coming back, hats off to Wasim Akram!! A really great bowler!!
Im glad you guys got him on the show what an absolute legend, shame the interview wasnt long enough couldve watched it for hours.. for me hands down the best bowler, his iconic short runup, his numbers, master of swing honestly dont think we’ll ever see a left arm bowler as good as him. What a beautiful brilliant interview- you chaps are amazing interviewers - great listeners with astute questions and gave Wasim space to expound yet kept it classy. Delightful work chaps!
Wasim was the best ever. I had no clue about his cocaine addiction - cannot wait to read the book. I love his candidness about his addiction and appreciate his comments on culture and the need for it to evolve. A wonderful cricketer and more than that a wonderful human
Very noble and honest of Wasim to speak about his addiction and the mistakes he made in his youth. What people don't understand is that most Pakistani cricketers come from modest background and when they become stars overnight it's hard to digest the fame and glory. Sure this is not very different from Indian cricketers however they seem to handle it better.

My all time favourite Pakistani!! The great Wasim Akram! Can never be bored of watching him bowl or give interview!! Great video ! Lots of love from India

Great interview boys!!
Wazzy was my 1st pick every time in the old backyard test matches. Honestly the best memories of my life those days
Great interview guys, Wasim Akram was the best bowler I have seen till date, just his ability to outsmart batsmen was second to none 🙌🏻
Great chat! Wasim was a magician with the ball and a very handy bat. Would have been bossed the T20 circuit.
Awesome to see The Wasim Akram on TGC!!
Probably the best fast bowler to have played the game, Loved the interview.
What a great man. Damn honest and humble, certainly very intelligent.
What a pleasure to meet him in ok signing and now watching this interview. Really needed a 2 hour podcast
A LEGEND INDEED ……. MANY RESPECTS FOR THIS GUY ….. it’s true the older you get the wiser and humble it makes you ….cheer up Ian ….where’s your bad side ….ur so quite 😊
An absolute legend of the game!
Pakistan was lucky to have him.. Probably one of the best cricketers of all time.
My all time favourite Pakistani!! The great Wasim Akram! Can never be bored of watching him bowl or give interview!! Great video ! Lots of love from India
Wow !! 3 great interviews from the last 2 days 👌🏻👏🏻
A man who seems to have mastered the art of life and not just cricket. Great interview guys!
wow how much this channel has grown to be able to get interviews from all these legends. At this point all the cricketers might want to attend tgc because its getting popular all of a sudden.
I agree he mentioned every single person in his cricket life who coached or selected him., which shows his class. One of the greatest bowlers in the cricket world and a treat to watch :)
Brave. A word that comes to mind when you hear this Interview. A splendid conversation. Go TGC
Superb episode! Wasim is unlike any other cricketer in the world. Both on & off field. Love his candidness
What an absolutely a brilliant conversation with the great Wasim Akram
A true sporting great and a legend, so articulate and respectful. Such an ambassador for the sport - Wasim Akram, the one and only. Much love from India, always.
Most importantly - He made many of us love the game even more.
Although Pakistani don't know the class of this man Indians loves him and consider him as the goat of bowlers
Although Pakistani don't know the class of this man?? lolzzzz really?
Fantastic interview...Love the way the hosts are just directing the way the conversation goes and letting the great Wasim Akram speak!
What a great interview of the legend. Love from California. Thanks for the great memories Wasim bhai :)
Great Interview, could listen to Wasim for ages - Now we want an Imran Khan interview lol
Being a Wasim Akram speak openly about cocain addiction is not that easy especially in Pakistani culture. I know people might say Wasim probably trying to create a controversy to sell more copies, but think about it this guy have enough money to live a happy life. I am surprise how openly he talk about night clubs, Imran's relationships.. etc
Such a genuine and sincere guy Wasim Akram is. Very well done interview. Thanks boyz for wonderful interview.
